Now we on pomni’s ass for getting to know Jax? For not being Ragatha’s best friend? That’s it I’m out. Pomni can chose who she wants to hang out with - without this being a huge diabolical issue she has.

She’s kind to Ragatha, she defends Ragatha a bit even when she’s heard two negative things from two different sources. Pomni doesn’t have to suck up to Ragatha and be her best friend she’s already her casual friend. It’s weird to think pomni’s in the wrong for not “valuing” Ragatha enough.. when she has apologized to her and has been rather kind to her. She doesn’t HAVE to be more just because you want her to be friends with Ragatha. She is figuring things out.

She laughed at Jax, that’s her own prerogative. There could be a few reasons why she wants to befriend maybe. Maybe it’s because she likes to give chances to the people in her life. Choose to be empathetic then judgemental. There could be so many reasons, but being a bad friend is not one of them.

Pomni doesn’t owe anything to anyone. No matter how nice someone is or isn’t.

Foreword: This is not a Jax apologist post. Feel like I have to say that beforehand before people put words in mouth. (Also I will block anyone who gets weird about Ragatha in the comments. I don't have time for all that).

On one hand, I definitely agree with the majority of the fanbase that Jax should be held accountable for his behavior. He's a rat bastard and has only recently shown he could potentially change for the better.

On the other hand, the way some fans treat him like Satan for the things he does seems like a little much, mostly due to the physics of the digital world.

People constantly bring up his behavior during 'Poachers Paradise' and the deep fryer incident tm as examples of him crossing some major line. Yet in context to the world they're in, it isn't any worse than the other bs he gets up to.

I mean, they live in a world where they can be stabbed multiple times, and it's treated as a minor inconvenience at worst.

Yes, in real life, dunking someone in hot oil and hunting down your friends with a gun and then biting them like a dog would be horrifying.

But they're not in the real world.

In the context of being in the digital world, I'd say these events are roughly equivalent to pushing your friend into the pool and shooting someone with a nerf gun before play biting them.

Note: This is Ragatha in her next immediate scene after the deep fryer incident tm.

She's, like, 99.8% fine. Only has a bandage, and seems relatively content all things considered. (Also, if what Jax did was actually dangerous, I don't think Gangle, even while going through a manic episode, would have left Ragatha in the fryer like she did). Still shitty of him, but not even remotely as much of a murder attempt as people inflate it as being.

Also, when Zooble calls the vote to end 'Poachers Paradise', it isn't because Gangle is actively in danger from Jax's behavior. It's because he's acting like a weirdo and making everyone uncomfortable. (Still bad, but not as bad as the people misinterpreting the scene as an active attempt at cannibalism make it seem).

Just like how I can't take a lot of the bad faith Ragatha posts seriously, I can't take people acting like Jax abusing the physics of the digital world like some big moral event horizon seriously either.

He's a bully and a troll, and that's bad and should be treated as such, but acting like he's some sort of supervillain or a hidden agenda antagonist seems like almost as much of a bad faith read as the people trying to paint Ragatha as some secret abuser.

If I'm meant to see Jax as an outright villain and not as a mild antagonist at worst, he needs to do something that's actually genuinely heinous even within the confines of the digital world. Otherwise, Zooble routinely delivering (very justified) retaliation in response to his shitty behavior is enough for me.
