I feel like the platypus is objectively the most punk animal to exist, firstly because it just doesn't give af what it looks like, it's vibing being itself and if that bothers you, well it's not their problem.
Secondly because of the middle finger to biology conformism by being one of the only mammals to lay eggs instead of live birth (shout out to echidnas, this post highkey applies to them too) and it's also one of the only mammals to PRODUCE VENOM (along with solenodons, some shrew, vampire bats and slow lorises [which shout out to those guys for being the only primate to produce venom])
When I tell you I need a little punk-ified cartoon platypus drawing!! And I don't mean Perry (tho that would also be great) but I just mean like, a literal real looking platypus with like, a mohawk n shit

I love the Jurassic Park franchise, yes even the Jurassic World movies but if they actually go through with another movie (given the info we have), I will simply end myself.
Firstly, I just think Jurassic City is a stupid name.
Secondly, Dominion pretty much wrapped up everything for the major reoccurring characters, even from the first fucking movie, so they'll probably be doing what they did with Jurassic World and essentially jumping to a different point in time & focus in the universe, which will be a lot to keep up with given that while yes, Jurassic World did the same thing with introducing a essentially whole new cast of characters (with the exceptions of Dr Ian Malcolm and Dr Henry Wu) up until Dominion where they then had everybody from the franchise in the past come together, Jurassic World came out FOURTEEN YEARS after Jurassic Park 3. Yes it was a sequel but it was overall meant to mostly be an introduction to the franchise to a whole new generation of watchers, whereas Dominion came out in 2022 and this new movie is supposedly going to come out in like 2025 or something, that is objectively too close together for movies to be released when they are meant to be a part of the same franchise but you are switching to a completely brand new cast of characters because all you are going to do is isolate the audience who fell in love with the previously existing characters from not that many years ago!!
Thirdly, they're supposedly looking at Scarlet Johansson for the lead, which no hate to her, but honestly can we please work on, oh idk, discovering new actors?? People love that shit!!
Fourthly, kinda jumping back to point 2 and adding onto point 3, while yes, Chaos Theory, the sequel series to Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous has been confirmed to come out this year, as far as we know it's a spin off and we only have confirmation about ONE main character returning and honestly??
I'd rather see a prequel-sequel that's meant to be set between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion focusing on the Nublar Six, how they react and overall just a movie that actually acknowledges just how fucked and terrifying the world of Jurassic Park actually is, plus as much as people might scream that it'll be "forced diversity" a live action movie involving the Nublar Six would open the door to see an absolutely amazing diverse cast of actors that we either don't really see at all or especially diversity that we don't see on screen together ya know??
I know that may be kind of counterproductive to part of my argument in point 2 about how switching to a new cast of characters might be confusing but a lot of people who know of Jurassic world have seen or have some context of Camp Cretaceous and therefore it wouldn't be switching to a whole new cast that is never actually been introduced because it has been very formally introduced.
Also can we please get a check in on Zach and Gray??
(Also also totally not asking cuz I wanna see Bumpy find Ben after being taken to the mainland... What...)

Since one of my favorite things is to reject canon in favor of head canons, even when it spits in the face of things that aren't just neat little canon facts but are like, full blown storylines, I'm just gonna say this:
The water tribes are/should actually be matriarchal.
While yes, there are real world cultures that have the moon being a masculine deity, the majority I can think of consider it a feminine one.
Tui (the moon spirit) is the first water bender and the source of water bending FOR water benders right? And while I know in the show Tui isn't gendered (as far as I can recall), that wouldn't necessarily negate the people of the water tribes viewing the moon as feminine, which I think, objectively would be really fucking interesting.
Like think about it!! A group of people learn how to do a powerful thing from a deity they view as feminine which would then sway their feelings to some degree about gender and gender roles in regards to the feminine of their people??
I don't care if the explanation is that the men of the Northern water tribe view women as something to protect and therefore that's why they don't teach women offensive water bending, I don't care if you're response to me logic-ing that away with the previous paragraph is "plenty of cultures can be contradictory about their views of female deities vs how they view real women" because IRL Cultures haven't learnt LITERAL SUPERPOWERS from their feminine deities!
And also, even if you keep the belief of "the men protect the women is why men learn offensive bending while women learn to heal with it" cuz I still think that learning bending from the moon, a feminine figure, would've led to water tribe women being more "significant" i guess is the word I'll use, in a cultural context, it would've led to them being considered the leaders, their thoughts and opinions having more weight and say over a mans, men marrying into the womens family, ect, even if women chose to only use healing water bending.
Point being, I need a fanfic where both water tribes are more matriarchal in nature and I need it to focus on Sokka cuz jesus christ how interesting it would be.
Just a silly little story about a non-bending man in a matriarchal bending society, gods the ANGST WE COULD ACCOMPLISH WITH THIS!!!

i am sorry but the sentence “stop complaining about [name of a tv show] because they might cancel it” sounds so crazy to me. we shouldn’t be afraid of giving valid criticism because the streaming platforms are little bitches that cancel shows after 1-2 seasons. this is insane. streaming has really ruined television wtf

This is proof that capitalism is not about freedom. Not even close.
In a system that values freedom, it would be expected that people would value living over working.
This is the same mentality as those who claimed to value freedom but owned slaves. They want freedom for themselves while everyone else serves them. They still haven't grown out of that.

Worship the Ashes by AKA_Green on AO3 gotta be like, my biggest S-tier Avatar fanfic fucking EVER. Like don't get me wrong, the slow burn was fucking SLOW, but it is SO worth it. Like yes give...
Wait sorry, one moment.
‼️[SPOILER WARNINGS]‼️
.
.
.
Okay, now, YES give me polyamory, give me redemption (possibly) of an originally antagonistic character, give me more elaboration on Jakes relationship with his brother, give me characters being multifaceted, give me SO MUCH WORLD BUILDING, give me FUCKING AMAZING DISABLED AND QUEER REP!!!
Straight up my only critique is that there are admittedly a LOT of OCs but they take their turns being background vs plot relevant so while it does take a bit to keep up, it's overall very well done I think. I love it so much, y'all would have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

This is going to be an unpleasant post but I need to talk to y’all about heat stroke in dogs. I am an ER vet and I am seeing firsthand the death toll that this heat wave is taking on our pets. In the past two weeks, for every single weekend shift I have worked, we have had at least one DOA with a body temperature over 107 degrees. One of them had simply been on a 20 minute walk at 5pm. All of them were brachycephalic (short faced breeds like pugs and french bulldogs). Their owners were in shock that this could happen so quickly, and their grief lingers with me.
If you have a dog, and especially if you have a brachycephalic dog, you need to familiarize yourself with the signs of heat stroke. Do not take your dogs out in the heat of the day, be aware of the pavement temperature, and always have fresh water available for them. When I am outdoors with my dog I am checking on him constantly. This heat wave is extremely serious; I need you to keep yourself and your pets safe.

I can't tell what would be better, Mo'at and Eytukan being young parents or "old" parents. We know Neytiri and Jakes kids are (mostly) teenagers by the time they're in their 30s, meanwhile when Neytiri was 18, Mo'at was (from what I could find) in her 50s, which means Neytiri wasn't born until her 30s, which again, Neytiri and Jake already have teenagers by.
On its own that means either
A) Neytiri and Jake are definitely considered young parents, even though by Na'vi standards they are definitely adults and Mo'at and Eytukan had children at what is considered the average for the Na'vi
OR
B) Neytiri and Jake had kids at what is considered normal and Mo'at and Eytukan had children "later in life" which idk why, but seems so cute to me.
I also just think that it's an interesting conversation to have given that the Na'vi life span is longer than a humans, some sources saying about 100 years, others saying up to 160ish years, AND they mature/reach adulthood faster than a human, so what is considered old by their standards? Mo'at is old being 50 because Na'vi mature around 16 or so? Or young because the Na'vi can live to 100+ years so she would be at the oldest "middle aged"?
The Na'vi lifespan also leads me to question gestational periods, if they have something akin to menopause and if so when that would hit, and if not/not til notably later than humans, would it be weird or completely normal for say a pair of Na'vi parents in their 70s to have children as old as 50 AND as young as say, 20 or so?
What do you guys think?
