not to be a demon apologist and excuse the whole soul-eating thing but it was honestly so cute and sweet when the saja boys got the hometown hero treatment from the rest of the demons, they were SO proud of them like when someone from a tiny town becomes famous and then the entire town comes out to celebrate them when they come home
also very funny to me that celine and the huntrix girls spent most of the movie saying DEMONS ARE EVIL AND MUST BE DESTROYED and then the demons in question were just having a concert in the underworld and listening to soda pop on repeat and waving light sticks

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

It's impressive how Neil Gaiman vanished from the internet. Wish Rowling would do the same.

Username Origins - Tagged!
So I was tagged by @songofamazon on a "where is your username from" and while I don't have nearly as cool of a story I do have one, and boy oh boy it's nerdy...
Okay so when I came up with Jateshi I was a wee anime nerd but I didn't want to just use an existing word. And I had a dictionary, the internet, and enough knowledge to be dangerously dumb.
So jate is part of the casual farewell, and shi is death and I, being in middle school, felt this was a WORD that should exist. So I slapped them together and then looked up to make sure it wasn't a real word - and it's not! Not one bit!
But I felt SO COOL for making a word that (at least in my head) meant "see you later, death" and then I went even MORE edgy and went "Jigoku is SUCH a cool name" and so I used to slap them together and go "See you later death in hell" and how metal is that?
Anyways.
I went through a period of time, you see.
And the funny thing is I used to hate people nicknaming me Jate because they would say it "jate like Kate" and I hated that. But over time, well, it's actually been a nice thing. I use Jateshi almost everywhere, and I am called Jate a lot and I dropped the "last name" many years ago from most things.
So, well, that was what I did. :)
And then now I'm also called Luc/Luke a lot, so like...

It’s insane to me that Dragon Age 2 is sandwiched in between two WAY HUGER and WAY MORE SUCCESSFUL games about more traditional fantasy protagonists facing off against world ending threats and winning and it’s this…weird, raw, personal tragedy about how no matter what you do, you can’t always stop crisis and disaster from occurring. Like The Hero or Ferelden, no matter who they were, wants to stop a Blight. The Inquisitor wants to repair the sky. And Hawke, like, wants to make some money, hang around their friends, and keep their family and their adoptive city safe. And they can’t even fucking do that, so unlike the heroes before and after them. You spend seven years in Kirkwall until the game says, “yeah, no matter what, the prejudices and traumas and hurts of this world are Too Much for one person to stop them. The world changes, wars roll over the land, you cannot stop history, Hawke. You tried. You failed.” And then you just sit there, sixteen years old, listening to “I’m Not Calling You A Liar” and you’re like….well, I guess I really wasn’t a hero. Damn. I love it.
#dragon age 2#the reason I consider this my favourite DA game#is that it's a tragedy#and you can try and try and try but#you're one person#you can make changes but unlike a hero#you can't save the world#you can only save parts of it alone

Hey folks in the Portland Metro Area
There's an urgent call to action for the Multnomah Arts Center. That I've linked below.
Apparently on Thursday, Councilor Steve Novick submitted amendment #45 to the City’s budget, to PERMANENTLY close the Multnomah Arts Center as of September 1, 2025.
Multnomah Arts Center is a non-profit organization that hosts a variety of arts and crafts lessons for people of all ages and serves as a home to some of our local craft guilds. They also host a variety of free to access art programs in the summer.
They need comments from folks in city limits by TOMORROW 5/21/2025 to convince the city council to vote no on that amendment.

I can't do much but maybe this will interest someone. This cookbook is by a classically trained autistic chef, made for people with sensory issues. It's sold 1/6th of its initial run because apparently no one wants to have an autistic person interviewed on TV.
Apparently it's also very funny.
Spread this around! I bet someone here can use this.
