Recientemente, se me ocurrió adquirir una cámara análoga, pues siempre había tenido la curiosidad de ocupar film más allá de una point & shot de los 90. Estas imágenes fueron tiradas con una Nikon N80 y Sigma 28-135, en Kodak Pro Image 100, sobra la Av. Álvaro Obregón a finales del año pasado, en la exposición de alebrijes en la Ciudad de México. Son scans de las ampliaciones, espero pronto conseguir un scanner para negativos y hacer yo mismo mis revelados.

Latley, I've been wanting to work with film. When I was a kid, I had some old point & shoot cameras, it was the 90's.

So, I bought a Nikon N80 with a Sigma 28-135 3.8-5.6 lens, not so fast and not so luminous but yet it can give a nice depth of field for close ups with a little bokeh and seems to be nice for landscape (I'll upload some more later), also a zoom with a nice focal lenght.

These were shot with this Nikon and Kodak Pro Image 100 fresh film, no edition, just as they came from the minilab. I scanned the 6x8 enlargements , because I have no film scanner yet.

All of them were shot at the end of the past year, during an Alebrije* parade in Mexico City.

I will keep on working on film and hope to achieve better results.

* Alebrije: are brightly colored mexican sculptures of fantastical creatures. Pedro Linares is known to be the creator in 1930's. Story tells that he got very sick and in delusion he saw a forest wit strange colorful creatures that had parts of different animals. Usually these are made of "papel mache" or "papier-mâché" and are known and made in most of mexican territory.

En el marco de los movimientos a partir de la "desaparición" (asesinato) de 43 estudiantes normalistas de la Normal Rural Isidro Burgos en la comunidad de Ayotzinapa, en Tixtla, Guerrero; se han gestado manifestaciones a todos niveles, ya no sólo impulsados por las familias de los normalistas, ni de la comunidad, se han rebasado barreras geográficas, económicas y socioculturales, no es sólo el estado de Guerrero, ni sólo las Uiversidades públicas y privadas, ni el D.F., es el PUEBLO el que está fastidiado de gobiernos corruptos y coludidos en el narcotráfico.

Funcionarios, criminales y gobiernos completos que permanecen impunes y la población ya está harta.

Muchas ciudades en el mundo se han solidarizado y han puesto atención a la problemática en México; no es actual, lleva años y el detonante tuvo que ser la descarada desaparición de 43 estudiantes, total, qué son otros tantos muertos más, pero ya no, no aguantamos ni uno más.

Meanwhile in Mexico. Due to the 43 killed teacher-students, protests have had place almost everyday since september 27th (the date they were killed).

I want to thank all citizens around the world who have gave us a little of your attention to know what is really happening in Mexico, all the people that has sympathized with us, all the foreign media who are actually telling the truth, because our TV, Radio, Press is sold and working just for the government interests, which clearly is not its population.

1. Remains of my great great grandparents, Cayetano and Maria Feliciana, in the family mausoleum.

2. Cempazuchitl flowers, left over a grave. In Mexico, we celebrate Dia de Muertos (day of the dead), to remember our dead relatives and friends, each year on november 1 and 2. People go to the graveyards and clean them up, decorate with some flowers and candlelights. This cempazuchitl flowers grow at ths time of the year, the bright orange brings a little life after death.

Presentación del primer material de la Molcajete Jazz Band, en la Crisanta, D.F.

Formada a mediados del 2013, Molcajete Jazz Band tiene una mezcla de ritmos latinos, con jazz, funk y sabor mexicano.

Integrada por Santiago Victoria Rosales (teclado), Manuel Yescas (batería), Luis Adrián Flores (guitarra) y Francisco "el Toro" Mendoza (bajo), esta banda dará mucho de que hablar con la precisión de sus acordes y el suave conjunto de ritmos y un groove poderoso en vivo.

Los Gatos Rockabilly

Lo prometido es deuda, finalmente me liberé de un poco de chamba y ya tengo listas algunas fotos con Los Gatos, estelares del show el sábado pasado en La Caverna, donde también tocó Wrokk junto a otras bandas.

Un gustazo poder convivir con ellos y echar el trago de manera cercana, una gran banda y grandes personas.

Los Gatos (Rockabilly Band)

Finally I could upload this set from last saturday gig. Los Gatos were the headliner band of that night, where also played Wrokk.

Los Gatos is a band from Mexico City that plays rockabilly, they've been active for more than 15 years, recorded 4 studio albums, played in big festivals (such as Vive Latino) and keep rockin' up to now.

I feel glad I could be in that show and have the chance to talk to them and share a drink, great band, great musicians, great people.

Reinterpretación y readaptación a cuento posmoderno, en un soporte gráfico, a modo de captura de pantalla de un editor de textos, a partir de  una conversación en whatsapp, que denota las dificultades de comunicación actuales, comparándolas en el pasado, causadas por la dependencia de la inmediatez que brindan los canales como celulares y el uso de redes de internet en estos, y la falta de este servicio.
