We are all human
I have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. These mental illnesses look different for everyone. If you ever met me in public, you would not think that I deal with either of these things. I have a very bubbly, outgoing personality and 9 times out of 10 you will see me with a smile on my face. I am generally very friendly. The point here; Just because someones mental illness looks different than the given stereotype, doesn’t mean they don’t have that mental illness.
Major Depressive Disorder looks like this for me; I have a hard time getting out of bed, I over eat, most days I barely have energy to brush my teeth. Sometimes, I go for days without showering. I struggle to get things completed, such as homework, making doctors appointments, adulting in general is very hard for me. I procrastinate because I don’t have motivation. I have more meh days than the average person.
What Generalized Anxiety Disorder looks like for me; My brain is on 24/7. I am constantly thinking about something. I am worried about the things that I say and how it will make people perceive me. Right now, I am worried that someone who is reading this is going to think that everything I write here is a lie, and that I am a terrible person who is just trying to get attention. When someone glances at me, I just assume that they are judging me in someway. My anxiety causes me to lie about the way I am feeling and I create a mold for myself to step into every time I meet someone new.
At the end of my day, I am HUMAN just like everyone else. We are all people living this thing called life, and we all struggle with different things. You are more than the mold you have created for others. You CAN’T control the way others think about you, no matter how hard you try. There are 7.9 billion people on this planet, and not every person you meet is going to like you. THAT’S OKAY. You aren’t for everyone and not everyone is for you. Be yourself. Those who stick around, are the people who can love and appreciate everything that you have to offer, regardless of the flaws and insecurities that you have. You wouldn’t expect someone to change for you, so don’t change for other people.
Treat everyone with kindness, INCLUDING YOURSELF.

I finally finished Jane Eyre. It was really good! I watched two different media adaptions of it, that changed my perspective of Rochester. Overall, it was a lovely book and I love the symbolism and feminism that Bronte brought to the table.
Now I’m shaking things up with a reread of Eragon. I absolutely loved this book the first time I read it. I love all things dragon. I started Eldest right after but I had such a hard time getting into when I was a teenager, that I never finished it.
I started working again, as a delivery driver, so I decided to pick up some audio books from the library. I had picked up the 3rd installment of The Mortal Instruments when I was in high school and, obviously I had no idea what was going on. There is a ton of hype surrounding this series and I wanted to give it a go.
I’m waiting to get a hard copy of “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka. I’ve read this one before as well, but I do have to reread it so I can keep up with my Lit class assignments.
Also, my uncles girlfriend has great taste in mugs, as she got me this one for Christmas and I just can’t get enough of it.
Thanks for reading!

Fahrenheit 451, I have given up on trying to physical read it. I’m going to try the audiobook version and see if I can get past chapter 1.
Jane Eyre has proved to be quite the interesting read. I’ve been bouncing between physical reading and listening.
Also pictured; my latest embroidery project. I’ve been working on this whilst listening to Jane Eyre. I have 3 other projects that I had intended to do before this one, but for whatever reason, this is one I decided to do.

I listened to this series over the last two years and I love Julie Kagawa. I first discovered her at my local library and I was so taken with her Iron Fey Series, I finished what was currently out within days. She actually has a new book coming out soon that I’m pretty excited for!

A Book To Read
Title: Talon(Talon #1)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Pages:449
Synopsis: To take her rightful place in the Talon organization, young dragon Ember Hill must prove she can hide her true nature and blend in with humans. Her delight at the prospect of a summer of “normal” teen experiences is short-lived, however, once she discovers that she’s also expected to train for her destined career in Talon. But a chance meeting with a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, St. George soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian is tasked with hunting her down. But when faced with Ember’s bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything the Order has ingrained in him—and what he might be willing to give up to uncover the truth about dragons.

My current reads. I’m reading Fahrenheit 451 because it was next on my TBR list. Jane Eyre is on my TBR list, but I started reading it now because I am in a Lit class that requires it.
These past few weeks have been a nice refreshing break for me. I was previously in a rigorous nursing program, and by the end of the semester I was so stressed, depressed and anxious that I wanted to move to an island and stay there forever. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can handle the amount of stress that nursing school entails. I made it quite far, but at this point, I thought it best for me to pick a different field that will allow me the time I need to properly learn the material. I’m still contemplating what field I want to go into, but I figured I would get my AA degree in the meantime. I’m excited to take some classes that are less hectic, yet still demanding that have consistent schedules. And to all you nurses out there, I’m glad you made it through nursing school hell. You’re probably an amazing person, who deserves all the things you could imagine. You are truly dedicated to your profession. Thanks for doing what you do.

Finished! This book was an excellent read. Normally, I am not one for politics, however the way Orwell writes about them kept me engaged. As I have stated before, I was first pointed towards this book because many believe that the political aspect of the novel mirror the direction that American politics could go in. Truthfully, while I did see some parallels, there wasn’t enough for me to think that George Orwell was a psychic that could see the future. This novel was a well-written dystopian-themed novel, that will make you think about the way you see the world. Perhaps it may even lead some to treat others with more kindness. It reinforced, for me, the necessity of individualism amongst peoples. 10/10 would recommend.

Latest read! I have a feeling this one will go MUCH quicker than the last two. I already started it and I have been sucked in by the story. Excited to see where it goes. I’ve been wanting to read 1984 for a few months now, because I’ve heard about the political parallels. I intend to read this book purely because I love dystopian novels. This is a novel that will consistently make me think how amazing the human race is. How we grew up, the things we have overcome and the lives we have lived so far, really do shape our perception of things. To be where you are now, is a beautiful thing. Be proud of who you have become and the things you have done.

I finally finished “A Separate Peace”! What an interesting read. I had seen some other posts about Gene and Finny’s relationship, and how it can be perceived that there are romantic undertones to the writing. I have to agree with this. The way that Gene idolizes Finny goes beyond wanting to be like him. I think that John Knowles wrote the story in this way because he knew that openly gay characters would be frowned upon. It didn’t quite end as I expected, but it was still good, nonetheless.

Yesterday, 12/26, I drove three hours to this bookstore in Jacksonville, Fl called “Chamblin Bookcave” and I was NOT disappointed. I picked up 23 books and spent $130 dollars and if I had picked up a basket, I would have gotten more. I walked in and was immediately hit with old book scent. Counting the days when I can go back. Definitely check this place out if you are ever in the area. Totally worth the drive for me. I could have spent hours and hours in this place. The video only shows a small portion of the store.

He is currently reading the LAST PAGE of this book that he has never read. He keeps skipping through the book and reading random sentences. I just had to vent about it. To each their own but what a disservice he has done to himself!
Also, I’m still reading “A Separate Peace” but I’m almost done! It’s an intriguing story.
I’ve been embroidering a bit as well. I’m currently working on this cactus scene for a family friend.
I hope everyone has been and continues to have a happy and safe holidays!

Please ignore my horrible photography skills and messy desk. I finally got to start reading this week. I have been so busy with work and school, I haven’t had the energy to read. Schools over and my schedule is finally steady. Here’s to hoping this book is as good as everyone says it is. This copy of “A Separate Peace” was owned by someone who either had to read it for a school assignment or liked to underline sentences. It has lists of underlines, highlights and even some doodles. Personally, I don’t like to write in my books. Textbooks included. But, I like that this copy is well worn. The corners have been dog eared, and the spine is worn enough that it bends well when I need to read with one hand.
Am I the only one who can’t read a book if I watch the movie adaption first? Movie adaptions ruin books for me.
