Simple. Insightful. Hilarious. It has been a while since I've posted and I feel that this is a great one to get back in it. I watched it several times and laughed out loud every time. Great job. Love it!

This website is awesome. The design is just breathtaking. It organizes a lot of information and presents it in a way that is easy to understand. The Flash programming is awesome too! It is the little details that make it so cool. Every part of the website is interactive. There are so many items to play around with while you learn about Sarif Industries. The company is a fake created for Deus Ex, a video game.

Holy Sh#t! This is awesome. Skittles you always have the weirdest commercials, but this one is even better because of the interaction. When I had my finger on the screen it made me feel like I was participating instead of viewing a commercial. There are a few other videos like this, but this one was my favorite. The Hitchhiker was a close second!

Agency: DDB, Paris
Client: Tropicana
I cannot believe someone did not think of this before! DDB used 2,500 oranges to power this light panel that read, “Energie naturelle.” So what is the point and why is this so cool? Oranges have natural energy that can spark your own personal human circuits as well. This is a great execution to illustrate the insight into how the human body gains energy.

I think this is an awesome commercial for a couple reasons. They didn't even show any sports reels like pretty much every other sports commercial. It is honestly the way people pick their teams too. This type of visual execution is awesome.

I can't wait for the world to be like this! There is so much potential with this kind of technology. Very exciting!

Though I think the concept could be pushed even further, it is a neat way to utilize augmented reality in a print ad. I also really like the fold-out print ad itself. I can imagine VW enthusiasts putting it up on a wall in their garage. You can begin to see where print ads are going; as far as interactivity at least.

VCU Brandcenter: Building Global Brands
Filmed and Edited by Ye Sung Kim
Voiceover by John McClaire
Art Director: Ye Sung Kim Copywriter: Lane Karczewski Copywriter: Bill Carlson Creative Brand Manager: Amanda Rue Creative Technologist: John McClaire
This is a campaign awareness video for Original Penguin clothing. Our objective is to bring Original Penguin back to life by letting the consumer take control of how it is viewed through different experiential tactics. We want to challenge the notion of a "lifestyle brand." Who is to say what your lifestyle is? How can a brand tell you where you fit in? Times have changed. The consumer has all of the power.

Today's Friday Forum speaker at VCU Brandcenter, Adam Creeger, talked to us about the role of a Creative Technologist in the industry and at AKQA. He showed us AKQA's Christmas card from 2008. I can't believe I've never seen this. I love it when digital goes physical or as Joshua Bletterman from TBWA\Chiat LA says, Phygital.

Isn't innovation awesome? I found this on fellow Creative Technologist, Jeremy Williams', tumblr page. It's a video a group of people created for Google Demo Slam. He mentioned to me that this was a great example of cloud computing and I agree. Three people made this with just Google Documents! We are going to be seeing more industries collaborating and using cloud technology in the future. Probably, the most awesome title of a 450 page presentation ever too.

This was an experiment/TV commercial to prove how much business people want their personal space. It was a smart and humorous way of selling airline seats. It showed how when people have their space invaded they become anxious and paranoid. Also, it made me curious as to why didn't they just create more space and not put an empty seat? Then, it hit me that it creates a physical barrier and increases the feeling of privacy that a passenger would experience. It is a cool concept to make empty seats to fill seats. Lastly, I love the facial expressions of the people being invaded too. How awkward!

Robyn Interactive Beat Machine
Check out this website. I've seen this beat machine idea done before, but not the way Robyn has done it. All of the different beats have a visual attached to them. Also, I love the old-school look and feel to it. Check it out!

Client: Sony PlayStation
I just came across this TV spot in an old AdFreak post from May 2010 titled, "The 25 Most Epic Ads That Aren't '1984'." It was for the Sony PlayStation 2 in 2003 and I am pretty sure only ran in Europe, but it is definitely epic. It also won a shit load of awards. I just love the way it was shot. The first thing you notice is the Shirley Temple song in the background. The dirty/gritty feeling you get really depicts how competitive it can get during online gaming. I have been a diehard gamer ever since that Christmas in 1989 when I was given a NES and this commercial is very much the feeling you get from gaming. It is an odd, but amazing feeling to know that you are 1 of 1,000,000 people that are playing that game right at that moment. This commercial depicts the never-ending struggle to be the best and remain at the top. Lastly, I guess I have good taste because, according to this website, it won a ton of awards. Cheers!

According to Puma, "This whole production is about everything in between the games we play. It's the good stuff, without all the drama." They definitely make it look like fun to be those people. Plus, the clothes look dope. I love how the execution brings in a physical/handmade element. This could have been a cool store-front display too! Either way, the art direction and production of this campaign is awesome.

This was my favorite Super Bowl commercial this year for three reasons. First, I drive a VW Jetta 1.8T so, I already love this brand. Second, I was a huge X-MEN comic/card collector during my adolescence and I remember fantasizing about having super-powers too. Thirdly, in layman's term, Darth Vader is a pimp.

This is an outdoor interactive store-front advertisement. Besides the fact that I am obsessed with my Motorola Droid, I think this is a really neat idea. Interactive outdoor advertising is one of my favorite executions. It has been proven that interacting with a brand will have a larger influence on the consumer. The longer you can keep them entertained the longer they will remember your brand and how much fun it is!
