Writing in the Midst of Being Busy/ Having Writer's Block

Hello again!

I wanted to talk a little bit about writing when things are busy, as well as writer's block.

I'm someone who tends to get a decent chunk of writing done during these times or shortly after.

Lately I have been busy prepping for finals which means I've got a lot on my plate, but it doesn't stop me from thinking about my story. In fact over the past few days, as I've had a class project come about that involves literature, I have come up with something that could help my story move along but I've yet to put it to paper.

Don't be discouraged by being unable to write in busy times. In fact take some time to write a few notes to yourself about thoughts or feelings you have about your writing.

Ive had writer friends who sort of beat themselves up about not being able to write due to a goal they set for themselves. Whether that be a certain number of pages written a day or words. It also tends to come with a little bit a of guilt in letting your audience down as a writer, no matter how small or large that audience may be.

Sometimes you need a break from writing and being busy may be a good excuse, but needing a break is also just as good of an excuse. Especially if you've been hitting a writers block, which happens to everyone at least once.

For me, when I have writers block I tend to have a lot of art ideas so I begin sketching and such. And when I have art block, I tend to have a lot of writing ideas. I understand this balance isn't something for everyone, but it may help to just be creative in other ways other than writing.

I hope this little tid bit helps what you may be going through. Sometimes a break is needed and goals aren't met the way we want. The ultimate goal though, is that our writing becomes complete in a way we can be happy with. Whether you're writing a novel on your own, or you're posting said novel(or short stories, etc) online in forums.

Introduction

Hello! My name is Journey and I am a fairly Novice writer.

My goal is to write a trilogy by the time I'm 30. I am 24 right now so I have six years. This is a huge undertaking but its a dream of mine so I am here to make it true.

My books are going to be fantasy with a real world twist.

Here I will be introducing my books cryptically as to not give too much away!
