I am excited to announce, again, that I am back on track for Asides and Champion of the Dead, with new release dates! Asides will be available if you sign up for my mailing list, completely free of charge, starting June 30th. Champion of the Dead will be available from most online retailers starting July 31st. It is so exciting to finally get to bring these two books to you. Asides is a short…

Update on Illness and Where the Book Releases Stand
I’m feeling better these days. I no longer have to dress the wound, I have more energy back, and it doesn’t kill me to sit at the laptop and get work done. But since Asides and Champion of the Dead got delayed anyway, I’m doing one last quick round of line edits on Champion. Just minor tweaks here and there to improve the quality of the prose, as well as fix any last minute typos that slipped…

Illness Has Taken Me Down
I had an emergency surgery which required a couple nights in the hospital. I’m doing better now but it also sidelined the last minute preparations I needed to square away before releasing both books. It’s looking more like Asides will be released early June, and Champion of the Dead early July. I know it’s disappointing. Hell, I’m disappointed too. I’ve been wanting to get both of these out for…

Book announcement, and it's a Two For One!
What’s better than one book? Why two, of course! May 31st I’ll be releasing books 1.5 and 2 of The Guardians of Gaia! Asides is book 1.5, and it’s a prequel collection of short stories with some bonus personal AU fun stuff thrown in. Champion of the Dead is book 2, and it’s the direct sequel to Savior of the Damned. The best part is Asides will be free for signing up to my mailing list! Champion…

My ADHD is Finally Medicated
I have struggled all my life with undiagnosed ADHD. Part of it is because I’m AFAB, and ADHD tends to present different in people Assigned Female At Birth. Part of it too, was racism. Because I’m Asian, there was this pervasive belief that “Asians don’t get learning disabilities.” Even my own mom would say things like that and she’s my Filipino parent.  As a result, I was a mess. My grades were…

We Have to Talk about Neil Gaiman
I have pulled back a lot from writing recently for personal reasons, which is why I’ve been mostly quiet on here and on social media. But something happened in the literary world, and I have to address it.  Neil Gaiman was never one of my heroes. The works of his I read were okay but not much my thing. I still used to admire him, though. His ability to consistently write books that so many…

I Can't Wait Anymore: New Book Announcement and Cover Reveal!
Want more of Savior of the Damned, but can’t wait until Champion of the Dead is out? Fret not! Coming soon is Asides. It’s a collection of short stories, some prequel shorts and some are AU adventures I created just for fun. Equal parts harrowing and delightful, they were originally written just for me. Some of them were meant as my own personal collection of backstory, some of them were written…

Getting Over the Holidays
Every holiday season is the same. I start out okay, then slowly slide into a depressive spiral as I’m hit with reminders of the past; most of my traumaversaries are in the holiday season, after all, especially around Christmas. Every year, on medication or raw dogging reality I find that all I can really do is white knuckle it through what’s the hardest time of year.  There are a variety of…

Hope
I’ve been avoiding talking about politics on my platform because it’s still so small, and I’m still so new, but it can’t be dodged forever. I’m a mixed-race, bisexual, disabled transman. My existence shouldn’t be controversial but it is. It always has been. I’m old enough to remember being called Oriental as a slur. My mom and I used to be told to “go back to where you came from” sometimes when…

TW: Grief
TW/CW I talk about the death of my partner in this.  I’ve mentioned a few times on social media that I’m going through a nasty divorce. My soon-to-be ex-husband wasn’t a good man, and I got tired of how he was treating me. I spent a couple of months formulating an escape plan when a well-meaning triage nurse reported my ex for domestic violence just a few days before Christmas last year and…

Champion of the Dead is Off to Beta Readers and More
Champion of the Dead is off to beta readers! Huzzah! This is my third round trying to come up with a satisfying sequel. It wasn’t that it was harder than the first, or that the other attempts weren’t good, it was that, well, there was a lot to sort out after the end of Savior of the Damned. Where did the book pick up after that? What parts of the story linger on after the end of the first?  What…

Happy Pride!
It’s that time of year again where queer people the world over celebrate their right to exist. We’ve come a long way since Stonewall in the 60s, but the fight isn’t over. Current events aren’t going to push me back into a closet I’ve been fighting to stay out of most of my life, though, so I’m running a promo on all platforms. My .99 cent books are free right now until the end of June on all…

New Story Published!
2rulesofwriting.com published a short essay of mine on sleep and mental illness. Mental illness isn’t a dirty word. Nearly 1 in 4 adults living in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness in their lifetime. Not all of them are lifelong, and many of them can be managed. But because of stigma surrounding mental illness, many don’t seek treatment until it’s destroyed their lives, if at all. So…
