Howdy howdy! I love your Game Chiki's Chase! How long did it take you to make Chiki's Chase? And how did you learn to make it?

How long it took:

It's hard to say how long it took because it happened over many phases:

as a student game project, it took 4-6 months for me & friends to prototype on top of our regular school work

I picked it up much later and did another 4-6 months of infrequent development for fun

I put 15 months of full-time work on it to release it in June 2022, and recruited help for audio/music/illustration

it's been 22 months since then, most of which I have worked on it full-time for content updates, but a lot of off-months where I did nothing related to the game!

I think it's safe to say 3 full years of work, give or take some depending on what you consider my "full attention"

How did I learn:

I learned pixel art when I was very young, for fun

I learned programming also when I very young, for fun, then for school, then for work. Game programming was always for fun though

I never "learned" game design, I just like playing action & roguelike games and those inspired what I wanted to do with Chiki's Chase

Hi, sorry I don't post here much, social media is hard to manage 🤡 Chiki's Chase has had major additions since the new year!

The 2.0 January update added Morgan, a shady shopkeeper selling unusual goods! There's new music, items, updated sprites, new leaderboards, achievements... now in 2.1, there is finally Japanese language support!
