Eddie’s mom always tells Eddie that he’s her whole world and she’d die if anything happened to him. Every day she lets him know that she would die if he left her. He feels so much guilt and responsibility towards her.

He has dreams about having to save her (save her from what?). He’s never quite able to. Not in IT’s illusions, not in his dreams (nightmares?)

He has the same dreams about his wife. He has to save her but he can’t. She cries out to him and guilts him for not being enough. He wakes up feeling weak.

Richie reminds him of the amazing things he’s done. He tells him he’s brave. Eddie doesn’t have to imagine saving Richie- he saves him in reality. He runs to Richie feeling newfound strength.

At least he dies knowing that he could save someone he loved, that he was in fact enough.

in my most recent re-read of IT i actually noticed something - i think It was specifically out to kill eddie because he pisses It off in the tunnels both times, he’s the one that injures it the most. he is the biggest threat and It recognizes that.

as kids, he’s the one that attacks the eyeball when no one else will, yelling “this is battery acid, fucknuts” and kicking and attacking it. everyone else joins in after he starts screaming that no one else is helping and “i’m doing the mashed potatoes all over it and i got a broken arm!” and then they’re able to move past it.

not long after, a giant bird appears and divebombs eddie, attacking him twice and scratching him bad enough it tears his shirt up, and ignoring everyone else until mike literally throws himself on top of eddie to protect him and stan starts yelling bird names to get rid of it

as adults, they run into georgie in his rain slicker and with his missing arm in the tunnels. he tells bill it’s his fault he died, bill deserves to die because it’s his fault, etc. eddie tells bill that it’s not george, kill it now, kill it while it’s small, and georgie turns away from bill to glare at eddie and eddie “reeled back and struck the wall as if he had been pushed.”

and then, obviously, eddie is the one to attack in a way that severely injures It in order to save bill and richie, and It is finally successful in killing him.

Do you ever think about how Michael 'Mike' Hanlon faced pennywise as a child and decided then and there that he wouldn’t let another child fall victim to him how he spent the next 27 years in Derry in a place that traumatised him and his friends researching a way to kill it for good how unlike the other losers he didn’t move on from this life, how he didn’t forget, how he never got to move on from what happened in Derry, how he tried his absolute best and in the end was the main reason everyone would be safe from then on
