Inktober day 13: teeming. In my opinion it's all about teeming with unnecessary feeling, spectres of emotion that twist and roil all around us in our backgrounds, haunting and irremovable, attached to us, part of who we are. Inktober day 3: Poison. I was listening to some choir music that had "bring us from darkness into the light" themes in it, and I really enjoyed that feeling of oppression and depression, being relieved by natural forces. It was my •°. birthday today, and as a treat we all went to a needle felted dog making course at the @wirksworthfestival #zantiumstudios in #godfreyhole We made some truly cool, first time felt-making dogs, and each of us are inspired and motivated to do more. Four little fourlegged friends have joined the family.

I drew for the first time in an age, and if felt very therapeutic. It's so easy to get drowned in "not enough time" "don't feel like it." when really, as well as giving yourself time to recharge, you just have to make time for yourself to do art, with the freedom and structure to just do what you need to do. #art #illustration #figure #body #pencil #fineart #story #narrative #figuredrawing #lifedrawing #lifestudy

It's been a month and some since handing in final assessment for university, and it's been a hugely transformative time, it would feel like everything has changed, because in a way it has. For me and •°. we have been refurbishing our home, a momentous task at the best of times, involving some serious overhaul and demolition of old for the new. (Gleefully carried out by me, armed with a hammer and drill and some serious heft.) A very exciting time, if a bit exhausting too. Sanding down these lovely pieces of yew wood has been the first "creative" (as in art) thing I've started since university ended, and is the first step in getting my art-mojo-chi back. My final year degree show exhibition display, featuring three comics from volume II of my collaborative project YPHI. My series of comics are all based on the Solstice (ironically it was the Summer Solstice the day before yesterday, good timing Katherine.. it just shows it took you an entire year to finish this project!) with themes of loss, guilt and redemption, while celebrating relationships, souls finding new purpose, and reunion. I've had feedback from many people saying they're very wistful stories, and with that I am happy to agree. To me, they're all about finding a sense of 'home' and belonging when bewildered or adrift. The setting up of the Degree Show Shop helped me find the time to photograph all of my wares for my soon-to-be online shop! Perfect opportunity taken. I love making each postcard, print, sticker, magnet and book look the best it can by adding the small personal flourishes like a few flecks of gold that make the individual pieces shine.

Was so wonderful to see #WalsallCollege Art and Design BTEC show down in the Saddler Centre, some fantastic work on display and so great to get to meet the students and be inspired by them and their hard work. Every year I see something new, something exciting, and it's lovely to get to see these students on their own Art Journeys, on the same course I studied. So proud of the hard work me and my mates put into cleaning the studio, painting the walls, building worktables out of raw materials with the help of our lovely volunteer carpenter. So disgusted by the thoughtless and ill-considered drunkenness displayed by peers in our class. Thanks guys, you proved you're so cool and so hip. Best comment I've received so far is "You'd think 3rd Illustration students would have done better graffiti, but you can see that shit on any street corner. No better art than delinquents."

My first drawing after assessment, ah, thank goodness I'm not broken after so much university work. It's ok people, my art-qi is still in me. What a strange day I've had.

My university year started with finding objects and using them as parts of my stories and finding narratives relevant to them.

Assessment is finally handed in, and in ten minutes of torrential rain, we found a leak right next to the window, just in time really, because I then discovered the ideal way to present work is not in a puddle, and moved my work in toward the centre of the room. Literally, so glad it rained and showed me that it was going to flood the room. I have worked as hard as I possibly could have, and I hope the results show, even if I haven't managed to my full potential because of recent changed in circumstances. Either way, I'm happy with what I presented in the time I had, couldn't have done better, even with another month or another hour. (That's a lie I could have done so much better with more time, but hay ho there you go. In the time I had, I did well.) So grateful to everyone who supported me through this interesting time of change. You're all beautiful, gorgeous and wonderful friends and I couldn't live without you. Thank you to all my followers too, for being patient while I got assessment out of the way. New art is on the way!!

Doodling at #mcmcomiccon while playing Merchant in a giant real life video game. #reallife It's such a blessing to draw for drawings sake, rather than because I have to finish it before the world implodes. Was such great fun at ComicCon, got to meet so many awesome people and it's so rewarding to hear what people think of our art. Glad everyone could come see it and go home with what they wanted!!
