Advice on Short Story Submission
Hello!
I've recently completed a couple of short stories, the shortest is just under 2,000 words and the longest is a little over 7,000. There's a lot of information about places to publish online but it is a tad overwhelming. Any advice on what publications or contests or whatever to try? They're mostly outside my normal genres, so they're just kind of idk normal, maybe vaguely unsettling, but not fantasy or sci-fi.
Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks for the tag!
"You can do it"
Arlin- "You can do it. There's not a person here who doesn't have complete faith in you."
Stephen- "I mean, you can do it, you know?"
Adnain- "I'm sorry, can you not do it?"
Nina- "You can do it. Maybe not well, but you certainly can do it."
Jude- "Of course, you can do it! I didn't spend the last ten years training you so you could not do it, that's for sure."
Dominic- "Sorry, were you talking to me? It's just that I was reading that some Philosophers in the capital have this idea about...."
Tagging: @laurendoessomewriting @fayeiswriting @frostedlemonwriter or whoever feels like jumping on!
Your phrase is: "That's the wrong way."
Character Voice Tag
Thanks for the tag @illarian-rambling this was fun!
Here are the rules: Rewrite the line of dialogue from the person who tagged you into the voice of your OC’s! (You can include a short beat of action to help establish character if you want.) Pass on the tag with a new line of dialogue.
My phrase: "Why are you holding my leftover pasta?"
Your phrase: "That's rude!"
Tagging: @mikathewriter @dyrewrites @sleepywriter00 @owlsandwich @annakayy - have some fun with it!
Warren Howard: *Peer's over the top of his newspaper and reading glasses* "You'd better not be thinking about eating that. That's my leftover pasta."
Karou Morgan: (Shy Karou) "Uhm... the container of leftover pasta? That's mine, right? It's okay if it's not, but I was wondering if I could eat it because, you know... pasta is my favourite."
(Aaaaand not to so shy Karou) "Hey, put that down! That's mine!

Seven Line Tag
Rules: Post the last 7 lines you wrote, or edited
While the girls were still trying to figure out how they had been on the stage a moment ago, and now appeared to be in some storage room, they neglected to notice that the room had already been occupied when they fell in.
The girls weren't entirely at fault for this, falling through a trapdoor, particularly when one intended to simply put their foot down on solid ground, as floors typically promise, can be very disorienting.
Paul understood how they felt because he had fallen through many a trapdoor himself. He wanted to tell them that the more times you experience the floor going out from under you, the better you get at getting back on your feet afterwards. The girls probably wouldn’t have felt too comforted by these words, because they’re strange words to hear. But Paul was himself, rather strange.
This is for my upper elementary chapter book! Just the first draft.
I'll tag @sunset-a-story @chargoeson @willowiswriting and anyone else who's interested!

Instead of working on my actual WIP, which has a completed and detailed outline and dozens of pages of world building documents, I have spent the past two days working on a Tale of Despereaux-esque children's novel about an unlucky girl who everyone thinks is a witch.
I can't tell if I just want to procrastinate desperately or if this is genuinely starting off as one of the most charming things I've ever written. I've written like 5k in two days and it's good? My beta reader says it's giving Good Omens energy and being compared to Terry Pratchett is making it hard to let go of it.
Probably going to keep writing that, so now I have two WIPs. For now.

One of my favorite writer things!
I think it's really interesting where we give imagination free reign versus where even in fantasy, there's a demand we stick to things that are 'realistic'. Every book is a fantasy in some way, and it's interesting to see what parts of real life we're choosing to keep even when we're building worlds we have control over.
People are out here imagining dragons, but openly queer characters or the world choosing to adapt to support characters with disabilities instead of rejecting them is going too far.

Writeblr Intro
Hello! My name is Kit. I am new to writeblr, but very old to tumblr. I live in the US, I'm 26 and use she/they pronouns.
I've been creeping on the tags for a while, but I finally made a blog just for writing. I'd love to share updates on what I'm writing, excerpts and talk about writing with other writers.
I'm currently writing my first novel, it's young adult high fantasy. I've written about 40,000 words in the universe, but I've recently finished a more detailed outline. So, I'm starting the real rough draft now that I know more of what I want to say.
A lot of my characters are queer and disabled, like me. I want to write books that are magical and that a lot of different people can see themselves in. I think fantasy serves as a cool conduit for imagining what the world could look like beyond a lot of the power structures we take for granted.
I'd love to follow other authors, particularly ones that are also working on longer term projects. I think it'd be cool to get feedback from people, or find other people who have been doing this longer and talk more about their thought processes. I'm open to following writers of all genres since I read them all and think there's so many cool things to learn from different styles!
Any advice on how to get started is appreciated, will be following anyone that interacts with this post.
I look forward to getting more involved in this community!
