Just (day-)dreamed of a ttrpg concept: Called "You meet in a tavern" it's a oneshot system which is set in a tavern and meant to be played in an actual tavern or pub.
The players get into the role of their characters sitting around a table and telling a stranger or a friend who wasn't with them of something they experienced.
The Gamemaster playing that friend/stranger might question certain events by calling for dice rolls. On a fail the telling of such events is a lie the GM character sees through. On a sucess it's unclear, whether it's a well-told lie or if the event actually happened that way. If characters disagree on how something happened they may roll opposed checks that anyone supporting their version may join in.
The GM directs the story only by asking questions based on what their character heard happened.
One day I might work out more details on this. Maybe. But till then maybe someone can turn my crude ideas into something fun.

A large part of the remaining 7% is some Chinese writer hyping one of the guys and demonizing the other because he thought a ruler in their own time sucks and can be compared to guy 2.
The "historically accurate" movie: Bleebus and Blorbus were fast childhood friends, but grew apart in adulthood due to political differences, eventually becoming bitter enemies who led opposing armies at the Battle of Shitty Hill, an era-defining conflict which culminated in a one-on-one confrontation between the two, who wounded each other terribly and died arm in arm.
Actual history: Bleebus and Blorbus met once when both were in their thirties. They had functionally identical politics, though they regarded each other with mild distaste because one of them spoke French. The Battle of Shitty Hill was a relatively unimportant border skirmish in which Bleebus died from falling off a horse; Blorbus didn't show up at all, dying ten years later of complications from syphilis.

DS9 Plot idea: Quark tries to smuggle something between pages of old Earth books. While confiscating these Odo stumbles upon one from a certain T. Pratchett.
He immediately is fascinated by how the character Sam Vimes approaches being a policeman and decides to turn into and emulate that man. Chaos ensues as Odo, in a strange looking guard uniform and what looks to be broken shoes, patrols the station. Major Kira is very much annoyed. Sisko is extremly amused.

There's at least two of them. So yes please for the love of Om don't use DnD for this.
Just saw a post about wanting to run a Discworld game using DND. My sibling in Om, there's already a Discworld ttrpg and it's so good, please use that instead.
#discworld#ttrpg#also realised this sounded rude so my apologies i just get frustrated with dnd ports#not to get into discourse but please don't play discworld on a combat/resources oriented system i beg of you#dnd has it's uses but definitely not here

The last days of the petition against conversion therapy are FASCINATING to watch. I have been following it pretty closely for almost a year now, and the progress was, above all, steady. There was this jump when some algorithm in Finland picked it up, but even that was local.
And now, everyone is panicking.
Which really shows.
These past three or four days, multiple countries have reached the threshold. Even more notably, the number of signatures in total, the ones that we need to get one million of, are growing rapidly. There are only 400'000 signatures missing. Two days ago, it was closer to 600'000.
You can see the progress here:
Consider joining the fun by making everyone around you sign it!

The entire second paragraph reads like a Pratchett footnote.
i hate the word opposite. so often the things we call opposite are related in every way except one. lets call them dual instead. duals dont have to be unique. just. in some way opposite. they're a pair actually. friends.
war and chinchillas are way more different than war and peace. but we say war and peace together. war and peace are not opposites, but duals. they grew up together. they are pals. war has never even met a chinchilla.

Ok, now someone do a similar thing with "A wizard of earthsea". (Sadly can't do it myself as I only own the audio book.)

Be thē̆r non-kin that algebraic ǧēmeter can not corrupten?
Commutative ring theory? Oh, surely you mean affine scheme theory?
Group theory? Oh, you mean the study of discrete group schemes over a separably closed field?
Galois theory? I think the expression you're looking for is "integral 0-dimensional schemes and their étale fundamental group."

Also for every metric on the respective manifold. I want flat torus earthers - people who believe we live in a pacman level.
there should be a flat-earth-like conspiracy theory for every 2-manifold. show me the real projective plane earthers

Me introducing my fundie homophobic conservative dad to both Nightvale and Discworld circa 2014 was such a baller move honestly. He liked them at first too. He was like ‘wow, this reminds me of Shakespeare.’ He is obsessed with Shakespeare. A few years later he realized it was a bunch of queer woke bullshit and blocked me, but it was fun while it lasted.
