Hi, I'm thinking of joining the Navy and training as a medic but I want to know a bit more of what it's like? Could you give me any info? X

My opinion, don’t do it, go to Tafe, become a nurse. Though the medic’s I've worked with have all been pretty good people.

When time flies, catch the wind.

Apparently I used to like writing, so I think I might just give that a whirl again. So I did rejoin the Navy and it was all I wanted it to be, I also met a new man. The other one broke up with me the day before I left to rejoin the Navy - fuck that guy he was self loathing anyway. So I was having a great time, until maybe 4 months in and a higher ranked sailor decided to stick his foot up my skirt (really wtf guy?). Piece of shit. Not gonna lie I became a little jaded after it was reported along with another incident and nothing was done.  Fast forward 2 and a half years and I’m in line for promotion, I did all the courses, was ready and set. But continuous life at sea gets a little frustrating and I actually wanted to have a life. Didn’t have any cool stories other than the places I went to. Just missed being on land to be honest, wanted to call the house I bought, home. I spent 2 months (in total... so a few days here a few days there) in the house I bought 2 years prior with that new man. Anyway, it became to tedious, it was the same shit different day kind of routine that I just didn't want anymore. 

What happened then? I left. I didn't get stuck in a rut and too scared to leave defence because the big bad world is a scary place and defence is a nice cosy easy place to get by, I left. 

Also I didn’t like supporting an organisation that allowed predators to continue with their jobs... because I bore witness to a CPO allowed to stay in the workplace after sexual harassment and harassment allegations were made by not only myself but 5 other females and 1 male. Then even after that that same CPO was allowed to continue that harassment and stuck again. #FTN as far as I’m concerned the whole organisation is fucked. From the training of both sailors and officers to the complete negativity every single day from about 80% of the people who work there. I’m sure just about every person who joins is the same, its not what they were expecting and not in a fun happy wow this is so cool way, but in a WTF did I do way. I had such high hopes for it that were just let down by higher ranking people who have no time for anyone under them even though thats half their job, hope squashing, simple minded assholes, pessimistic, lazy, hard-done-by-just-ask-them fucking wankers. I could rant about this for a very long time. The Navy is a decrepit cesspool. Again can’t say it enough, FTN.

Good god am I better for leaving. I have a new job, that I’m enjoying thoroughly, can’t give out any of the gory details though, or any details. But I’m bloody loving life. In my house that I can now say I actually live in, my clothes are away, I have to worry about what I’m going to cook to eat, I am -almost- a normal person. Wow. I actually didn't know what it was like to be an adult until I had to actually look after myself. 

That new man, is now not so new anymore and he is absolutely brilliant. Kindest human I know, a real gem. Unfortunately he's still in the Navy, but hey what can you do. 

I now have 2 blue heelers and a ginger cat. They’re all wonderful little creatures that I hope spend a very long time with me. I’m sure they will. 

So that is life up until now. I’ll keep you posted I’m sure.
