Stop Introducing Science to the Wizarding World
Science is detrimental to magic.
I've read a lot of fanfictions criticizing Hogwarts for not offering muggle subjects, but in my opinion, offering muggle subjects wouldn't really help much. The main subjects taught to kids are science, math, and language.
Witches and wizards could probably benefit from having a class that teaches them new vocabulary and sentence structures, but the amount of essays assigned to the students probably does a well enough job ensuring that the students at least know how to present information by the time they graduate, through sheer trial and error when the teacher returns the essays marked full of red due to grammatical errors, at least. They could offer Latin classes or something similar to help students understand the language they use in spellwork, but that's not really a class regularly offered to children and teenagers in the normal world so it can't really be called a 'muggle' class.
Mathematics is already offered, for those who wants to learn, in arithmancy. It's most likely a required OWL or NEWT for jobs that require a lot of calculations and the little math that is required in normal day to day life are already already taught to muggleborns in their primary classes, and to kids growing up in the magical world by their parents as part of their home schooling.
Science, I believe, is not only unnecessary but detrimental to the magical education process. Magic is something that has a lot to do with belief. Science imposes a lot of rules, laws, and principles that outlines what is possible, impossible, what's supposed to happen in a specific situation, etc. It is rigid. Magic defies the laws of reality. Teaching the students those laws would make them subconsciously believe in them, making them think that even with Magic, it is impossible. More over, they may even try to apply the laws of reality to Magic. I've read a few fanfictions where they applied chemistry to transfiguration. Where they must understand the chemical composition of both the object they are turning and the object they are turning it to. Eleven year olds were able to transfiguration a wooden match to a needle. Wood is an organic substance with carbon and hydrogen atoms while a needle is usually made of steel, which is an alloy of multiple metal atoms. Do you really think children know enough chemistry to be able to manipulate the protons, electrons, and neutrons withing an atom to turn carbon and hydrogen atoms to different metal atoms like iron and nickel? Of course not. But they were all able to do it as a first year, why? Because their teacher said they could and it's the first day of class, so many probably assumed that it's the simplest and easiest thing to do with magic. It's belief that makes it happen. Knowing the actual process that's happening would just overcomplicate things in their mind and make it difficult for them to visualize the bigger picture of what they want to happen. Instead of focusing on the match turning into a needle, they would instead think about the atoms turning into another atom and arranging those atoms so they form the desired shape. That may be somewhat doable with the match to needle transformation, but what about the later classes where they would be asked to change something made with different materials to another object also filled with different materials? Don't even get started with animate to inanimate transfiguration. How would you even explain cells turning into atoms? They don't have the same constituents of protons, electrons, and neutrons like changing between atoms do.
I really don't like that these fanfictions try to make the Wizarding world more like the muggle world. It's a different world with their own abilities. You can't expect them to do things like the muggles would. You can show them what the muggles do, and they can find inspiration to make a Wizarding version of it. Someone has probably already invented a spell that does the same thing a calculator would, a graphing calculator even, with the graph showing in 3D as a hologram. Some of the magical spells we see in the books are more advanced than even the present stage of technological advancement where AIs and robots are becoming more advanced. Especially household spells. They have a spells that makes the dishes wash themselves! A spell that makes a broom clean by itself! Those are imbueing objects with artificial intelligence all with one spell! The objects don't even have to be specially made to do these things, magicals can just buy a regular old broom from a store and wave a wand over it and boom! No more cleaning chores. Magical sensors are also way more advanced than technological sensors. They can detect intent, spells, forgotten thoughts (the remembrall), and likely more.
In conclusion, adding muggle subjects is not only redundant, but would hamper the progress of magical advancement. Similarly, converting muggle technology and following its progression instead of finding a way to make something like it with Magic would make innovating within the Wizarding world hard. Not to mention, while phones and computers are something that doesn't exist in that Wizarding world, the later technological advancements like AI and robots can already be done using spells, which everyone can do, so following the muggle technology progression can't really be sustainable for long anyway.
Besides, magicals have different needs than muggles. While the muggles' current primary focus is electricity and food, magicals power everything with magic, and while food can't be made out of thin air, it can be doubled from existing food. There's probably even magic that causes plants to grow quicker, and if there isn't, magicals don't have the same problem muggles do with space for their food crops. They can expand a space, plant a lot of crops, cast some spells that would provide all the nutrients and water needed for healthy plants, and they can have food right at their backyard. I've always thought magicals are very independent creatures. With the magic and classes taught at Hogwarts, they can conjure or transfigure everything they need, use charms to make their life easier, defend themselves with magic, brew their own medical potions, and grow their own crops with herbology.
What do we learn in school? How to do math we'll likely never use and science laws most don't even care about.

So I started a hp fanfic again and it's Tom Riddle-centric. At one point, he said something about the muggle world having instant long distance communication already - I assumed he was talking about email cause he used the phrase 'transfer of messages'.
But then I realized that Tom Riddle in his 20s is during the 1950s. Did email even exist back then? The answer is no. The first email was sent in the late 1960s and became widespread during the 1980s, if my research (quick Google search) is to be believed. People at the time only had landlines for communication so it's not like the Wizarding world was that behind, as they have the floo call network that works about the same.
Then, I thought if they weren't that late in that respect, are they also at about the same stage in other areas? So I started searching about quills and pens - one of the things people point out when talking about how old fashioned the Wizarding world is. According to this link,
The quills became metal tipped around the 19th century and the pens that we're used to, like the fountain pens and the ballpoint pens, only started to appear in the early 20th century. So, the Wizarding world is only late at most a century, and even then, it could be that they didn't want to transition at first because of all the quill based spells they have.
We don't really know how spells are created. For all we know, it's based on some really complicated math and star alignments. Changing the parts of a spell, like to make the quill spells work for pens, could also require a bunch of maths and complicated stuff. They have the dictaquills and spells like that to help them write conveniently still, so do they really need to change to a more convenient tool to write in, if it requires all that effort?
The late 1900s is when technology really started to advance. And fast. It must've been a massive whiplash to them so they were a little slow in the uptake.
So it's not really fair to say they reject all advancements of technology just because it doesn't mesh well with their magic, it could be that it takes a long time and a lot of effort and waiting to research a magic friendly alternative that does the same thing. Astronomy is one of their mandatory classes after all, what if doing some things in magic requires the alignment of these specific astrology objects or something?
Of course, they do still go around in robes, but maybe it's comfy? It must be so free down there.

If there are differences in light and dark magic, does that mean there should be dark transfiguration, and dark charms too? Cause all I hear about are dark curses and if that's all there is to dark magic, there should be no problem just keeping them banned. Cause what do you use curses for? Light spells are enough for self defense. Dark spells are more likely to cause someone serious harm so if you used that for self defense, then you could end up tried for excessive force, or worse, you could actually kill that person. It's way easier to just stupefy them. Faster too. And guilt free. If there are other branches of dark magic that actually have some use, other than causing excessive harm, then maybe they shouldn't call dark curses dark, it gives all other dark magic a bad name. They should call it destructive magic instead. That way, it's separate from ritual magic, mind magic, and other branches of magic that are considered dark.

The remembrall, while a useless device, is interesting in the theory behind it. It's a magical device that turns red when you forget something. While it's useless in that it doesn't tell you what you forgot, the theory behind how it tells you have forgotten something can be applied to different more practical things. How does it tell that you've forgotten something? Different detection spells work because they look for magic inherent to every living thing. But forgetting something shouldn't change anything about your magic, so how does it work? If the theory can work for things forgotten, then it should be able to be modified into triggering when someone tells a lie, or when someone knows an idea, or when someone believes in an idea.

When Harry and Cedric got pulled by the the portkey to the graveyard, they saw a suspicious figure walking towards them. At the time, Harry was already having an adrenaline rush because of the third task, and because of his adventures during his first third years of school, and being a Gryffindor, I would have thought that he would develop a 'act first, think later' approach to things. So what if, in a moment of panic and adrenaline, Harry hit the suspicious guy walking towards them with a stupefy, and immediately panicked and checked on the guy. He finds that it's Pettigrew carrying an ugly baby that looks like Voldy from his 1St year, so he hits the baby with a stupefy too. Then he takes the portkey and gets himself, Cedric, Pettigrew, and the baby who may or may not be Voldy out of there and back to the school. That way, Pettigrew can be arrested, and they have Voldy under custody where they can question him on how he is still alive and find the horcruxes from there. The events of books 5-7 will not come to pass, and a lot of people wouldn't be dead.

If Lily and James Potter knew they were in danger of being killed, enough so that they made some security measures (although a failure), why didn't they get a portrait made and enchant some of their wisdom and personality there, and hide and keep it safe in case they die. That way, Harry would still be able to get to know his parents somewhat and they could still guide him, even if they're not actually there.

Is it a sign that I'm jealous if I hate on the heroine of most shoujo manga?
Everything they think is all about love love love and getting the other's attention.
Please tell me if I'm being jealous. I'm currently at the point in my life where I don't know if I ever want to fall in love and if I'm just jealous then maybe I still do want to fall in love.
Like every shoujo manga, I immediately like the male characters, that could just mean I'm straight but you never know, and the female lead characters are so the same (?) Like they never change.
It's not even all the female characters that I dislike. It's just the lead.
Update: maybe it was just the bows that repulsed me. I didn't think Sakura was that annoying when she and Nozaki first met. Her hairstyle then was the one bow half-up do. Well to be fair, she wasn't in love with Nozaki back then so maybe they get annoying once they 'fall in love'?
Update 2: Ha! Sakura got rejected! You know I headcanon that Nozaki actually heard what Sakura said and the reply Sakura didn't hear was: "Yeah, I'm gay and dating Mikorin so you're out of luck, girly." Damn, I figured it out! The reason why I don't like the female lead is cause I ship the male lead with another male! And as long as the female lead is there, my otp won't happen cause sadly, most authors prefer hetero relationships. But, since Mikoshiba doesn't have a partner, unlike the other boys, and Sakura essentially just got rejected, that means I'm free to believe that Nozaki x Mikoshiba is canon!
In conclusion, it's not that I don't believe in love, I'm just a fujoshi
Update 3: so I've spent the night binge reading the manga of gekkan shoujo and I don't care what happens to Nozaki and Sakura anymore, I just want Mikorin and Mayumayu to end up together. They're sooooo cute. I hope they add more interactions of them in the mange soon. Also it's so weird that I actually like the hetero couples in this anime/manga except for the mains. Maybe Mikorin can just date the two Nozakis at the same time? Ot3?

How to know if you should date a person
Do you even know them?
If you know more than basic information about them (e. g. Face, name, age, birthday)
If no then it's probably just a shallow infatuation and you should forget about them. Good-bye.
If yes, then you're either a close acquaintance, a friend, or a stalker. Proceed.
Do they even know you?
If you know more than basic information about them (e. g. Face, name, age, birthday)
If no, then you're probably a stalker, in which case, stop cause thats creepy and illegal. Goodbye.
If yes, then you're either a friend or a close acquaintance. Proceed.
Test the Waters
Ask them to go hang out. Not a date, just a friend outing or something
Have fun, don't be nervous, be natural, don't fake yourself cause that's stupid and would never work if you want a real relationship, they gotta accept you for you and not just the ideal you (also applies to friendship if the next part doesn't work out)
Evaluate
Think of how you felt when you were hanging out with this person
Were you just thinking of kissing and being closer to them the whole time?
If yes, then just ask them out. There's still a chance a relationship will work but the friendship definitely won't. You'll just be torturing yourself being so close to something you can't have. Also if you're obvious and they figure it out, two things can happen, they'll be grossed out or they'll return the feelings. Just get the uncertainty out of the way so you can both move on.
If no, then you're either content with the friendship and have no real desire to form a relationship, or content just hanging out but wish to pursue a relationship in the future. This will lead to a 'I don't wanna ruin our friendship but I kind of want to date them dilemma'. If that happens, you're on your own dude. There's a lot of variables to consider but for me, I think that if you get jealous of other people hitting on them, it's better to just ask them out.
Btw this was also keeping me up at 5am. Why brain? why? I'm not even having difficulties with love. I should stop watching stupid shoujo anime with stupid people confessing to people and making drama.

I don't get confessions. Especially in anime. There's just no right answer.
It's usually one person being in love with another person for a while because of a moment that somehow made them fall in love (?) but the other person don't even know they exist. So when person A confesses to person B, of course they're gonna reject person A, they don't even know them. But for some reason, if person B says no, they'll be labeled a jerk or a heartbreaker. Especially if person B is a popular person and people just fall for them because of some shallow reason. You really expect them to say yes either, cause what do they know about person A? That they somehow fell in love within one interaction with person B and probably stalks them. Then once person A gets rejected, they'll fell sorry for themselves and sometimes even want to take revenge on person A. Like what did you expect? He'll suddenly like you when he hasn't even met you before? You're the one that got ahead of yourself.
But then what would you do if you suddenly fell in love? If you befeiend them first before confessing, it feels wrong cause you're getting close to them for your own gain. And not a lot of people want a friends that fawn over them.

Tfw you don't want to watch the season 3 of Free! anymore cause the ending of season 2 was so complete and they're all happy and content and more episodes means more drama and I don't wanna do that to Haru and the others... But then the fanfics all include characters that were introduced in season 3 and I feel like I don't even recognize the fandom anymooorrreee T_T
So either I suck it up and watch them go through another problem or I read the fanfics and slowly get to know the new characters there.
I don't want to do either yet so I'm gonna read mha fanfics till I feel up to it.
Oh and if someone out there has watched it, tell me if there are more Haru laughs in season 3. If there are, I'll definitely watch it just for that perfect perfect laugh.

It was the most lovely sound I've ever heard. Though if there has to be a story, I hope they make it about Suna joining Takeo and Rinko in their relationship. That part before the sports festival where All Might pulls Midoriya over for lunch to talk to him really annoys me.
He basically tells Izuku to use the sports festival to tell the world 'I am here'. Which is really stupid cause he had One for All for barely a month and a half and has zero control over it (control that All might should be helping him with. Seriously All Might! You're supposed to be his mentor! Teach him to not destroy his body! If you can't, tell someone so they can help him since you're obviously useless (if you can't tell, I really don't like All Might)). That's like asking him to go out there and break his arms. All Might is very lucky that Izuku is smart and resourceful enough to get through the first two rounds without using his Quirk (except for at the very end with Todoroki stealing their headband at the last minute). All Might is putting way more pressure on Izuku than a fiftenn year old can handle. He's basically still a kid! Why would you tell a kid that you're gonna have to retire soon so he has to hurry up and control the Quirk he got just two months ago and shoulder the responsibility of being the symbol of peace. That's mess up. Even if he masters it, it's not like he can be the symbol right now, he's still a first year. I really don't get why All Might is rushing Izuku when he won't even be able to do anything until he's out of school. And can we just talk about how All Might doesn't even trust that his fellow pro-heroes could handle the backlash of losing the symbol of peace. Humans are very adaptable. Things may be rough for a little while, but it will soon stabilize and everything will be back to normal. All Might shouldn't have even waited that long to find a successor anyway, the moment he realized his time limit is getting shorter and gell have to retire soon, he should've already been searching. Overall, I really really don't like All Might.

I find it ironic that Aizawa, an Underground hero, talks about the sports festival and standing out as if it's a requirement to being a pro-hero when he doesn't even like the media and standing out. Like dude! You're an underground hero! You're job is to not stand out! And I feel that he should know that the mainstream heroes are already overflowing and the underground heroes are stretched thin. So why doesn't he encourage, or at least inform, the class of underground heroes and their roles and advantages. It's really bad that in the whole first year of the heroics class, not a single one wants to go underground before Shinso. The introduction of the sportsfest is great timing to introduce the concept of underground heeoics too! Cause it's before they show they're cards to the world, which is a no-no for underground heroes. Not introducing it there also makes it feel like media presence is all there is to being a hero. Which is totally not it. Also can we just talk about how none of the three stages are about saving people? My God, it's all violence! This is why people think that there are no more true heroes! What do you expect when their school teaches them that being a hero requires a strong media presence, and that they can only get that by proving themselves superior through physical prowess.
Why is the whole thing a competition anyway?! And no, I'm not just talking about the sports festival, I'm talking about the entire hero system! What about being a hero requires you to be above other heroes?! Just work together dudes and dudettes!
