the more I think about the mutiny at Terror Camp, the funnier it becomes. like... that was only their second stop. imagine you are on a road trip across the continent, you make it to your second hotel of the journey, and suddenly everyone is pulling guns on each other, one of your team leaders got stabbed in an arby's parking lot, the guy you hired to keep everyone safe is now openly mutinying with some rat guy who wasn't even supposed to be on the trip in the first place, and now you've ordered both of those guys to be hanged for their crimes. your dog is dead, the rat guy ate it. one of your other team leaders gets lost and almost immediately starts chewing on his shoes. the rat guy took your only doctor. several people got mauled by a bear.

and it's only. the second. week. of travel.

And here's the reveal of which one is correct. Unfortunately I'm not a gif-maker, so you will have to put up with my mediocre screenshotting abilities. I've put everything after the answer under a read more because some of them get a little violent/gorey.

One guy starts losing it when he becomes convinced he can see ghosts.

Amazingly, this does not happen. One guy is afraid to go down into the hold because he (and apparently some of the others) think that they have heard the voices of their dead friends.

But he gets through it with the help of a lantern, and there's only minimal freaking out and definitely no actual seeing of ghosts.

And another guy is understandably upset after he thinks he saw the monster devour someone's soul, but that's a soul, not a ghost.

So even though there is a lot of spooky stuff and a lot of guy's losing it, this is the thing that didn't happen.

Second place/an honorable mention goes to:

An officer throws a big party on the ice and wears a dress to it.

I realized after making it that this might not technically be one hundred per cent correct depending on how specific you want to get. There is an iconic scene in which James Fitzjames considers wearing this iconic dress.

He doesn't end up wearing it to the party. Instead he wears a different dress. (Getting screenshots of his costume was weirdly difficult though. The party itself is chaos.)

For clarification, he's dressed as Britannia, a feminine figure representing the spirit of Britain. He's still dressed in female costume, just one that is probably a little easier to justify.

It could be argued, however, that this is a robe, rather than a dress, so I dunno. I totally intended for this to be one of the true answers, but it might be incorrect on a technicality depending on how you want to define things.

As for the other answers:

A character suggests watercolour painting as a suitable alternative to gay sex.

Yeah. I actually love this scene. For context Irving caught Hickey messing around with another male character a little earlier.

The monster puts most of a guy down a hole so a funeral is held for just a leg.

Yeah, this happens. Just showing the leg funeral bit because the part with the hole is a bit messed up/gorey.

A guy wraps himself in forks so it will hurt the monster when it eats him.

This happens and it is badass. Blanky is so cool.

Charles Dickens helps campaign for a privately funded rescue operation.

Behold, The Terror's version of Charles Dickens.

This doesn't just happen in the show but happened in real life, because he was a friend of the Franklins.

A body is found but it's the top half of one guy and the bottom half of another.

This doesn't even mention the fact that it's the monster that does it. It's messed up.

A doctor sets himself and half the camp on fire while dressed as a clown.

RIP Doctor Stanley.

Hail the size of bowling balls.

Honestly this fucked me up the first time I watched it. That hail is too big. The weather needs to calm down.

A character complains because another character does his own shaving.

And it's adorable. I'll be honest, I put this in as a 'that's too mundane' style red herring and because I love this moment and I love Thomas Jopson.

I'm glad you all had fun with this poll and that it had the unintended side effect of making so many of you want to watch this wonderful, strange show.
