Unfortunately I won't be able to run the Langblr Secret Santa event this year (2021), because of my new job, new studies and old responsibilities.
If anyone wants to take over and host such event, please go ahead! And in case of any questions, send me a message :)

Kimbundu Resources
Hi @unicorns-eat-pizza, I was your @langblrsecretsanta for this year! I saw that you were interested in learning Kimbundu but that you also felt like you didn’t have enough time to study it, so I thought I’d give you a list of low-effort and easy to access resources to get you started (hopefully you haven’t used all of these already). Best of luck with your studies, Kimbundu seems like a really interesting language!
(also I saw in your bio that you speak Portuguese, so I’m hoping it’s okay that some of these are only in Portuguese)
Music
A playlist of music in Kimbundu (Spotify)
A Youtube playlist which has a lot of songs in Kimbundu subtitled with a Portuguese translation
Basics/Grammar/Vocab
Greetings & Basic Phrases
To Be
To Do
Pronunciation & Prefixes
Plural formation (Explanation & Exercises)
Articles & Prepositions
Proverbs
Channel with more introductory lessons
Kimbundu sets on Quizlet (all very short)
Let me know if any of these don’t work or are the wrong link, and happy learning ^-^

Hi @tonguemadeoffire! I’m your emergency Santa :) Unfortunately I’ve never studied any of your target languages, so I won’t attempt making a post about grammar or vocab, but instead I’ll share with you some interesting things that I’ve found on youtube and other places :)
Mexican Sign Language
I don’t know how fluent you are in LSM, so I’ll just link everything I find useful:
A playlist with basics of LSM
A Look Into Mexican Sign Language
About deaf community in Mexico
Visiting the Deaf School in Mexico City
You can also just have a look at the entire channel Deafinitely Wanderlust :) It’s has a bit more “international” approach to sign languages, but I think the content is interesting anyway :)
Christmas Signs in ASL / Señas Navideñas en LSM  (and you can check out the entire channel Dynamic Hands ASL & LSM)
Brazilian Portuguese
Speaking Brazilian Language School - a youtube channel full of learning videos!
Easy Brazillian Portuguese youtube playlist
Brazilian Portuguese Slang
And this is something to read - I thought it could be interesting to you, since you like history and anthropology: Indigenous History and Anthropology in Brazil
Latin
And something Christmas-y at the end :D I like this version of Gaudete! Gaudete! Christus est natus (a Christmas carol in Latin), it’s performed by a choir of Polish friars from the Dominican Order :)
youtube
(here are the lyrics with translations)
* * *
So that’s it - I hope you found something interesting to you in this post :) Happy Holidays and all the best in New Year!

langblr secret santa
hi @europastudier ! i was your secret santa, and here’s what i made for you!
here is a google drive with phone wallpapers inspired by france and sweden!
Tumblr media
some law-related french websites and swedish podcasts - i love listening to podcasts in my target languages! even if i don’t understand all (or most) of it, i’m still getting used to the flow of the language.
7 sites juridiques à ne pas louper
le service publique de la diffusion de droit
un projet encyclopédique d'initiative universitaire consacré aux droits du monde et aux sciences juridiques et politiques
sveriges radio
mordpodden - en podcast om verkliga mord
Tumblr media
and here is an interesting law i came across when going through french content!
in france, the toubon law mandates that a certain percentage of broadcast songs and programs on the radio and TV must be in the french language. as of 2016, this percentage was 35%, down from the 40% mandate that had been in place since 1994.
enjoy!! 🥰🌲❄️🌍 (@langblrsecretsanta)

Langblr Secret Santa 2020
Hello @hauntytrieslanguages , I am your Secret Santa for @langblrsecretsanta . Your description said you are interested in Scottish, Japanese, and you like horror. I combined this into a Japanese horror mood-board and a Scottish horror mood-board. I myself am interested in both as well. During the process it was exciting to see how different the mythologies are and where they are similar in themselves.
The mood-boards based mainly on how the horror mythologies appear to me. For Scotland, it’s more of a green and grey image with stone castles, moss, forest and creatures and restless spirits, while Japan embodies more of a craving of vengeful spirits and blood.
It’s not a very Christmas spirit, but I hope you had some nice days and you can visit the countries of your target languages after the pandemic.
Do you know this website? Here are alternative travel tips that include curiosities, unusual, spooky and creepy things and places to visit. It’s certainly worth browsing through the 30 or 40 pages.
