What happens when both a,b are zero. Can we define gcd(0,0) = 0. Then ax + by = c has a solution when c is a multiple of zero, the gcd(a,b)
Hello, sorry for the late reply. The definition of the greatest common denominator strictly says that not every component is zero. In your case, either a or b has to be nonzero to define its gcd.

Quick update: I’ve decided to use the textbook Apostol for analysis, since it is more rigorous than Rudin. However, I will not ignore Rudin but use it at times where it is needed. Here is the page for some sections of Chapter 1 in Mathematical Analysis by Apostol. I am going to do Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and more.
