I've had the idea of this image for some time in my head, ever since we found out that my puppet druid Amento is the second artificial version of the jester in the original Ravenloft court. He's been having a tough time trying to live up to his past lives, and the fact that h̸̳̜͛î̵̙̦́s̴̝̳̆̏ o̴̧̯͗̓ň̴̞l̴̙̥̓y̸̹̒̒ p̷̟̱̼̱͉̋̓̓͒̽u̷͎̎̏͑͆̀ř̴̺p̶̺̦̑̈̕o̸̘̿̃̈́͑s̵̹̥͕͕̊̃͊ȩ̵̢̻͍̥͒̂̄ is̶̢͈̱̟̾̿͝ to̶̠͋ k̵̞̥̥̀̍̕e̴͔̩͗̈͠e̴̠̬͍̜̊͊̽́̊p̵̧̛̀̽ Ir̸̟̖̳̗̦͌͒͠ȅ̴̥͂e̴͍̽̿̓͐n̶̡̧̛̹̞̤͂͠a̶̧͔̪̻̮͒̈́̈́̎͑ h̶̬̼͈͉̄̒͐̀a̴̛̝̳͔͌p̴̪͒͌p̸̛͇͕̽͗̽ỷ̸̢̖̚ is not helping. He has met both of his past versions, and both of them feel very uncanny to him, like that strange repulsion you get when hearing your own voice played back to you. 🌚

Talking about the voices, we had a part where our party heard their own voices reciting the prophecy back at them, and I love imagining how Amento thought that it sounded like the voices of his friends + Pidlwick, as it has never occurred to him that they share the same voice. ✨

Had a super fun time back in autumn with @phuiscribbles and our friends playing a Candlekeep oneshot (that turned into 3-shot, like they tend to do). 💖

Such a great dynamic group, and these comics are an amazing compilation of some of the funniest moments in our game. It was a blast to DM! ✨

Got to play DnD for the very first time with my colleague friends @taigafore, @metesae, @withrapids in Finland. Here’s some of our characters in the one-shot campaign (ended up 3 sessions lol) + mini comics which are all based on what happened during our session. My character is Orion, an Aarakocra who is convinced that she’s actually 1000 yr old God reborn from ashes like a phoenix. She has the attitude towards the "lower beings" more of a necessity as she needs to remind everyone that it's just a matter of time till she gathers enough experience to rise back to the godlyhood 💅 And at the end of the story, statues of Orion & her 'peasants' are erected in town as symbol of heroes, just as she hopes for. I had such a great time with the session that I had to make some comics out of it (a good comic-making practice too)! Big thanks to @leenalecklin for being such a cool DM teaching us first timers how DnD generally work!

🌱 Welcome to my Blog 🌱

I’m Leena, Story Artist from Finland. In the most recent years I’ve been working as a Storyboard Artist & Story Supervisor in Gigglebug Entertainment, in various projects for Disney, Nickelodeon, and Warner Brothers. Currently I’m working in development, creating early story concepts for upcoming series pitches, as well as working on our own feature film project on the side with my project partner. 

In my spare time I love playing DnD and draw the characters and scenarios happening in the games I play. That’s mostly what you will find in this blog, as most of my professional work is strictly behind NDA.

I also have a scifi story project called "The Timtale", which you can find in this blog. It has been on hiatus for many many years, but is still very dear to me. I do return to it every now and then, so maybe in 20 years it will actually become something or other, who knows. 

I tend to disappear for half a year, then crawl out of my cave to rapid speed post my stuff for some time before I disappear again. So if you don’t hear from me, rest assured I’m just hibernating and will be back sooner or later.

Main Cast of our Curse of Strahd Campaing - or at least most of it

I've been having a little project for my own enjoyment and drew a lineup of our CoS main characters - mostly our PC's and couple NPC's. Amento is my reborn puppet druid, while the others in the party are Matra human paladin, Tera half-elf rogue, and Varis elf bladesinger wizard.

Eustebio, our human bard, I banished to the NPC page, although he was one of our original PC's. His player had to drop out of the campaign around a year ago and we haven't seen his shady bard since. And I just had to put Pidlwick II in the PC page, as he's almost one too. I'm very happy how Ireena turned out, as I'm not super fan of her original hot lady design and I've always imagined her more of a "good looking, but in the end just a normal girl next door" type. Strahd I had to draw couple times and I'm still not 100% happy with him but I'm getting there.

Amento was cool for 1.5 seconds in the fight, then he got bonked in the head and decided to flee. ❤️‍🩹🌱 Kazan the Blood Spear was not amused about this cowardice (and the fact that it seems like all our enemies has no blood for it).

Amento is my reborn puppet druid in the Curse of Strahd campaign. And he's still quite convinced that Kazan has probably mistook him with someone else as the future leader of its Berserker Armies.

Pidlwick II and III 🎭

Amento has been having a stressful journey figuring out his past as Pidlwick III. In the castle he met his first failed version Pidlwick II, which definitely creeped him out.

Now he lives in denial saying that they look nothing alike (they do).

I wasn't too keen on the official design of Pidlwick II, so I just drew how I imagined him instead. Also our DM added in the story that he has a second face in the back of his head, and the head rotates 180 degrees between happy and sad expression when needed. It's so creepy I love it.

Amento is my reborn druid in Curse of Strahd campaign. I had no idea what the story was when I was designing him and decided he would be a puppet. It fits so well with the story it's almost uncanny.

Breathing is something you don’t think about until you can’t do it anymore.💀

Story of Frill being brought back is something that has been hiding in my folders for several years unfinished. I’m still not quite happy with it, but I guess it’s time to accept it and move on to something else. 

Frill is my DnD character. A skeleton bard with a lot of package to carry on his bony shoulders.

Amento is slowly getting his memories back, but at what cost? 💔

First Ireena just straight up told him that Jester outfit would look good on him (mmm...RUDE?!), then he dreamed about it the next night. Also he most likely met himself in the memories of the past and it really freaked him out. I imagine it being like hearing your own voice recorded and played back - you know it has to be you, but somehow it feels completely off. 

Amento is my wooden puppet druid I play on Curse of Strahd campaign! He’s a sweet little boy getting increasingly conflicted about his part in this all. 💦

Our DM made Amento with an AI, so I had to draw a fan art of them both 🤣 It is reassuring to know that my characters are too hard for the bot to draw correctly. AI Amento is so unsettling. 

Just a disclaimer, I’m not a fan of AI art - I think it is really hurting the art community - and I’m posting the first AI-generated piece here just to explain my own drawing under it.

Amento naked turnaround 🍑

Amento is my puppet druid who I play in our Curse of Strahd campaign. He can’t remember much about his past, but he has a weird scribble on his back that seems like a clue! No spoilers in the tags please! I don’t know much of it yet! 🙏🏻 We have found out that he probably was a jester in the castle 400 years ago, but how he turned into a puppet, I have no clue.

I got very annoyed by the fact that I couldn’t draw Amento in a way I wanted to, so I decided to make a full turnaround of him. I haven’t made one of my own character since Tim, so this was so much fun!

The wooden boy with the borrowed soul 🌱 Amento is the character I play in our Curse of Strahd campaign. He’s a wooden puppet druid - who apparently wasn’t a puppet at first at all! He is looking for his druid master Vladislava who disappeared one day leaving only her cloak and hat behind. Amento didn’t remember anything about his past at first, and the memories he is now getting back are making him just more confused. 💦

I got a drawing frenzy last weekend and drew Amento in so many outfits! His normal outfit consist of a cloak and a hat that were left behind by his master when she disappeared. Under the cloak he has his own Vistani clothes that he doesn’t remember where he got from. The night gown Amento borrowed once from another player when his own clothes were soaked, and the jester costume I drew because we found out that Amento was a jester in his previous life - it’s also what mini-Amento wears. 

I’ve been enjoying this campaign so much 💖

I love your Strahd character. I think mine and them would get along. Sotiris is also a resurrected druid with a large hat and a leaf cloak, though he's an old old man. His sister was a druid who pulled him into the roots to save his life, and he came back as a blight. Uses his big hat and cloak to hide his face in the same way. A sweet cowardly healer who turns savage with his Shillelagh Spear when you hurt his friends. And if he ever met Amento would feel a need to watch over this sweet and scary plant. Anyway love your art a ton, its so very Aesthetic~!

Ah thank you! Sotiris sounds like an amazing character. 💖 I think Amento might get confused about someone calling him a plant, but anyone with a leaf cloak would definitely become his friend, hehe. 🌱
