We're back! Sorry for our absence, with summer vacation we weren't able to continue the blog. However, now that school is about to kick in, we're back and looking for LGBTQ+ people to photograph! Remember that our services are completely free for you. Just drop a message in our box and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

The response to this project has been much more than we predicted. We are working on planning our first couple of sessions! That being said, we still have open slots before school gets out. Feel free to message us if you are thinking about having pictures taken.

It didn't look like her.
When I was looking through my girlfriend's senior photos, I couldn't help but smile. She was so pretty in her jeans, makeup and coat. But one thing struck me immediately, it didn't look like the girl I love. Sitting to the right of me was a gorgeous stereotype: a Vans and flannel clad gay. But captured forever was the girl she pretended to be in high school, a girl who she wholeheartedly is not. It occurred to me that hundreds of teenagers go through this same experience: being constantly photographed as someone they were not. Expression plays a big role in self confidence, it's hard to be comfortable pretending to be someone you're not. Whether that's because of gender assignment or traditional beliefs. That's where we come in. LGBT Portraits is a project whose goal is to give back to those who are forced to be someone else. In the smallest way, a free session of photography can radically change someone's confidence, allowing them to have photographic evidence of who they are. As we start up, we will only be able to offer free sessions to LGBT youth in Indiana with few exceptions, however over time we hope to expand to provide free portraits to queer youth across America. Let's affect queer self confidence one portrait at a time.
