Another piece from Frieze Art Fair (I couldn't see an artist plaque, so if you know the artist please update me). I think this piece spoke to me so clearly as I have been medicated for depression before. We're told these medications are safe and effective, but I disagree. 💊 I have never spoken about my depression publicly but being that it was world mental health day yesterday, maybe I should. The only safe and effective medication I've tried for depression and anxiety (including panic attacks and boughts of agoraphobia) is meditation. 👌 I'm not a doctor and I would never suggest anyone stop taking their medication but when I decided to come off mine, I meditated. I now have a very regular practice and it helps me stay off the medication which made me feel numb and gave me electric shock feelings in my brain.🌩️ So this is to all the sufferers out there. It gets easier, just breathe. Always take it back to your breath. You, your breath and that's it. Simple, safe and effective. Meditate: not medicate.
