“So. We were thinking about going to another bar after this. You up for it?” Sirius asked, approaching James at the table he was standing at with two butterbeers in his hands.

“That sounds great, mate!” James agreed, nodding and taking the butterbeer Sirius offered. 

“Perfect! Pete and Remus-” Sirius started to say, but he was interrupted.

“Hi, Jamie.”

James looked up from his conversation with Sirius only to see Regulus standing next to him, a grin on his face. Instantly, James froze, his heart kicking into triple-time and his body growing hot.

“H-hi,” he answered nervously, ignoring Sirius’s eyeroll and not-so-subtle gag.

“I was thinking of going home soon,” Regulus said softly, taking a sip from the straw of his almost-gone drink and setting it down on the table, stepping between James and Sirius so his back was to his brother, “but I don’t want to go alone. Do you have any plans?”

“None,” James gasped a bit dumbly, unable to think at all as Regulus placed a hand on his chest. All he could focus on was the other man’s touch. “None at all.”

Regulus grinned broadly. “Perfect. I’ll just pay my tab, then.”

“Here!”  Again, with no thoughts on his head, he shoved his hand in his pocket and grabbed a handful of coins, giving them to a thrilled-looking Regulus.

“Thanks, Jamie,” Regulus purred, walking off.

It was only once James was able to shake his head and clear his mind a bit that he turned to Sirius and saw his annoyed expression.

“What?”

“You are so gone for him,” Sirius scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Pathetic.” 

But James could only grin.
