The years had been hard on Percy, whose hair finally matched his age. Though Vax still found him as beautiful as the day they met, Percy didn't. His fingers would trace the lines on his forehead from years of frowning as he tinkered to pass the time. His eyes would sadden as he looked at himself in the mirror, distain in his eyes at the smile lines at the corner of his still bright eyes, from years of pretending.

And Vax, well, he hadn't changed a day. He looked the same as the day he stepped through that portal, and though he had grown and aged, he didn't look it. And he'd see the look in Percy's eyes, the quiet question about whether he'd changed as much as he had.

So, Vax stood facing Keyleth, taking a few deep breaths.

"Are you sure about this, Vax? I dont know if I can change you back..."

"I have died every day, waiting for him. I have watched my family grow, live, and age. And I... lingered. I have never been more sure of anything in my life."

Percy woke to the feeling of a warm, familiar hand stroking his cheek and opened his eyes lazily. His beautiful, youthful lover would be waiting, and he'd... be reminded of how he had aged.

But, as he took hold of his hand to kiss it, he noticed a difference. It was Vax's hand, unmistakably, but it looked different somehow. The fingers looked skinnier, the skin less taut, and the veins more prominent.

He sat up, frightened and confused, and his eyes met those of his lover. Soft, world-weathered, and wise. Just like Vax. When he smiled warmly, Percy noticed lines at the corners of those eyes he loved so much, laughing lines. Real, unlike his.

And long, loose, silky locks, with white strands in between.

"Vax! What did you do?"

"Im making sure people dont think you're a pervert, Freddie."

"Oh, shut up. You look..."

"Like a silver fox? I know. It's time to look my age, darling. And I've spent a lifetime waiting to grow old with you."

"And when Im gone, Vax? Your face will forever be a canvas of the life we've lived, and you will see it - and me - every day."

"I won't, because I will follow you into the dark. I told you that Id never leave you again, and I don't mean to. You will leave this world in my embrace, and then I in yours. Your soul will be the last one I guide, and where ever you go next, I will be there."

"You'll give up your mortality, your job - your religion - for me?"

"I have served a life-sentence, I have served enough. You are my life, Freddie. And I won't live a moment without you."
