“Her heart was heavy because it was open, and so things filled it, and so things rushed out of it, but still the heart kept beating, tough and frighteningly powerful and meaning to shrug off the rest of her and continue on its own.”
— Helen Oyeyemi, from Mr Fox.

DESTROY the idea that being soft and submissive at the expense of your own happiness is something to strive for. STOP GLORIFYING SELF SACRIFICE.

I cannot count the times I asked myself, “how can I runaway from myself?” I realize now that every time I wanted to escape myself is when I really needed me the most..
feeling lonely tonight.. yearning for an intimate touch

daily reminder that it’s not healthy to feed yourself nothing but positivity and completely deny your less pleasant emotions. in order to grow within yourself you must be able to acknowledge and understand all of your emotions, so that you may deal with them accordingly. cry if you need to, break things, sleep all day— YOU decide what you need to do to take care of yourself based off how you are feeling.
if you deny the existence of unwanted emotions, you are invalidating your own emotions and perpetuating those negative emotions by not facing them.
