UK phonetics for subdued is [səbˈdjuːd] (with j), but Oxford dictionary uses ʒ instead.

Nascida em 1905, Nise da Silveira dedicou sua vida a psiquiatria e manifestou-se radicalmente contra os tratamentos agressivos, como Expoente da luta antimanicomial e contrária a métodos agressivos, a alagoana fez da arte uma aliada no tratamento psiquiátrico no país. Dedicou sua vida à psiquiatria e manifestou-se radicalmente contrária às formas agressivas de tratamento de sua época, tais como o confinamento em hospitais psiquiátricos, eletrochoque, insulinoterapia e lobotomia. Foi pioneira no Brasil na pesquisa das relações afetivas entre pacientes e animais, aos quais chamava de co-terapeutas.

Como reconhecimento à importância de sua obra, Dra. Nise recebeu condecorações, títulos e prêmios em diferentes áreas do conhecimento: saúde, educação, arte e literatura. Seu trabalho e seus princípios inspiraram a criação de Museus, Centros Culturais e instituições terapêuticas no Brasil e no exterior. Por meio de seu trabalho introduziu a psicologia junguiana no Brasil. Faleceu no dia 30 de outubro de 1999
