Writeblr Intro III

Time for (another) writeblr intro!!

I'm Lucky (she/her, not my real name), I'm in my 20s, and I write mostly fantasy. Thematically all my work is about grief or siblings (or both) and usually has something to do with religion/mythology despite the fact that I was not raised religious in the slightest. I also have some fanfic under my belt for Buffy (that I wrote as a teenager) and Ace Attorney (that I'm currently writing as of June 2025).

The reason this is my third (I think) writeblr intro is because stories don't come to me fully formed and I often change things as I go, meaning a lot of my character intros, wip intros, and writing snippets are incredibly outdated. With the rise in AI scraping, I'm hesitant to post my writing on tumblr (yes, I know about the ai scraping on ao3 and no, I don't care enough about that to hide my work from guests because I didn't make an account until my late teens and I hate to think that I'm taking the ability to lurk away from people). All of this is to say that if you decide to look through my blog, I'm grateful but don't expect frequent posts or anything.

THE SONG OF THE GOLDEN & THE DAMNED/THE SONG OF THE VENGEFUL & THE DEAD: My high fantasy reimagining of the stories surrounding Siegfried the Dragon Slayer. Combines aspects of the Volsunga Saga, the Niebelungenlied, and Wagner's Ring Cycle into one story about a dragon slayer fated to die and the ones trying to keep him alive.

TBD fka FEATHERED WINGS & BROKEN SOULS: A story about a struggling young artist, a girl with wings, a princess from another land, and the corrupt god-king murdering his way to power. Quickly, Viola realized this would be a nigh impossible challenge. If there was any organization to their filing, she couldn’t see it. Last names were mixed together, Caldwell next to Peterson next to Izmane next to Wilson next to Fitgerald next to—

Viola backpedaled. Yes, it was right there, Izmane in a tight hand. The file was hands down the largest in the box and it was easy to see why. Folders with increasingly worrying names like witness statements and bullet casings  and autopsy report and Viola Izmane painted a clear picture. They’d combined the files on Donovan Izmane and  Reina Izmane into one convenient tragedy. A sudden death and a violent murder, connected by papers and the daughter left behind.

She retrieved the last folder in the line—Viola Izmane: Evidence—and opened it and did not consider things like curiosity and cats.

The folder was absolutely bursting with papers. Transcripts of interviews and interrogations, notes on her relationships with Beckham and Lily and Cyrus and James, copies of her written statements, an artist’s rendering of her as a weeping child, an artist’s rendering of her as a cold teenager. She was crying in both sketches, but only one of them looked believable, and she realized the reason for the size. They’d combined her mother’s death and her father’s murder into one convenient file. They believed in a connection. Shit.

Viola took the second drawing, the one of a sixteen year old with blood on her skirt facing away from the artist’s pencil, folded it in quarters, and slipped it into her pocket.

If you use generative AI to write, you're not a writer, you're barely a software user.

You're generating autocorrect sentences. That's not creation, that's just statistics at work. If you don't want to write, don't try to be a writer! You don't have to be a writer, or an artist. And you also don't have a right to being either, just because you feel like it. You also don't have a right to running the Olympic marathon, just because you feel like it. You gotta train for the marathon, and you gotta write to be a writer.

Letting software patch words together for you is not creation. Oh, and you're making yourself stupid and destroying the environment, so yeah, just stop.

the fact that all of tumblr is collectively obsessed with mermaids and every year in the month of may, every single fandom starts creating fanarts of fictional characters as mermaids... and Yet! mermaid stories practically don't exist in popular media, we don't see mermaid movies, tv shows, video games being made... there is an untapped market and interest for this genre (let's call it that) but corporations are totally not aware of the things people would potentially like to see more of
