I saw a post the other day saying best friends who get with your ex is not ok, so much so as to getting rid of your best friend.

I remember a friend of mine dating my ex, going so far as to even trying to convince me to dump him without telling me she secretly wanted to be with him. I never really saw it as an issue and even now, it hasn’t effected my friendship between either of them. I supported them both giving her advice when she needed it, being the shoulder she’d cry on when she was having troubles with him, shared my genuine happiness for the both of them when things were going well, and even though they eventually broke up, it ended up being a really good/healthy learning experience for the three of us.

When you say, “I just want you to be happy” you’ve got to mean it, even if it means you’re not in the picture any more! No, it’s not easy and yes, it will hurt, but how much more will you hurt forcing someone to stay who just wants to be free? That sense of “deserving” can tarnish any possible future friendship, reconcile and do so much worse for your mental health.

Do not lay conditions on those who aren’t yours to boss around to begin with. You made your life decisions, now let them make theirs. There is no moving forward without letting go of your past so just do it! And remember, life is too short to hold grudges so if you want to get back with him/her, drop that pride and get back with them!

Ps. This does not condone cheating in any way, just so no one’s confused.
