genuinely one of the worst things that’s happened to television in the last few years (exacerbated by streaming services) is death of Filler. going from 20 episodes to 8 because “we didn’t really need that episode where the main characters went to the beach right? it had no long lasting effect” but we DID!!! we needed to see how they act without the Big Bad Plot and to establish the dynamics between the characters and lay in the sun (do they forget sunscreen? how do they react to a thieving seagull? do they get buried in the sand or do they do the burying?). the plot isn’t everything. the action doesn’t hit as hard without the quiet moments. give us character development and our little scenes back

OMG PLS TELL ME ABT THE PUZZLESWAP AU !!!!!!!! i wrote a whole thing about yami atem but i need to see what other people are cooking im dying out here brother!!!

OKAY!! SO!! basically in puzzleswap, everyone who was in a millennium item is swapped with the item user, ie: yugi-atem, bakura-yamiba.

since there was never a pharaoh atem, the puzzleswap atem is a (relatively) normal 16 y/o boy chillin in japan until he accidentally awakens yugi's amnesiac spirit within a pop-up pirate toy and is now possessed! uh oh!

miba "yamiba" kazuaki has been possessed by his middle school best friend, ryou, since his unfortunate passing on the day of their middle school graduation (see comic wip below)

and since there's no pharaoh, there's no tombkeepers, so marik grows up (relatively) normal. he & atem were childhood friends until atem moved with his father to japan and they lost contact (marik was still young & didn't really understand what was happening -> abandonment issues)

puzzleswap just follows atem & yugi (plus some yamiba & bakura cameos) in their adventures as they try to discover yugi's memories to help him pass onto the afterlife :)
