The greatest version of Raoul to ever exist is the one who lives in my imagination, where he is properly nourished, loved, and appreciated.
no one understands the emotional release this gave me

Now that we've seen Tom Francis sing Sunset Boulevard while walking around the theatre and Rachel Zegler sing Don't Cry For Me Argentina from the balcony of the London Palladium, I have a few ideas for Jamie Lloyd's next Andrew Lloyd Webber production.
Phantom of the Opera where the title song is filmed live from the sewers. All I Ask of You is done on the actual rooftop of the theatre. The audience becomes part of the mob for Final Lair. The chandelier is a bunch of expertly placed spotlights.

I wasn't aware that Alexander Skarsgård was capable of this level of earnest, childlike wonder.
Murderbot's self-insert OC!
LOOK AT HOW HAPPY IT IS
Probably delirious too but i think the glee is real. The special interest excitement is so real.

Full high quality scans of the 1881 in universe newspapers that were dropped at 6 newsstands in Manhattan this morning. Thanks IG user elissa_rizzo for both quickly snagging and sharing with everyone!
Note the two Le Monde Nouveau from 1880 and 1881 were not dropped. Looks like the front and back are different but the inside are the same which explains some of the timeline wonkiness.

Valjean gets them dark-washed, but he's been wearing them so often for so long that they end up fading.
all previous les mis discourse is dead. it’s time for a new era of analysis.
would valjean be a light-wash denim or a dark-wash denim guy?

I know for a fact that the people of Metropolis would get into fights with outsiders over this.
Rando: What’s his deal anyway?
Metropolis Citizens:
Dont get me started on the people of Smallville ...
Im headcanon that talking shit or hating on Superman in the DC verse is like hating or shit talking on Keanu Reeves or Dolly Parton
#superman#clark kent#i just KNOW for a fact that Clark being superman is just an open secret for them

Jason alone had so much potential. Why did he have to be nerfed so bad???
The "who's the most powerful demigod" argument is genuinely exhausting.
A character's worth isn't determined by their power.
And it's especially annoying because Rick writes powerful characters and then gives them obnoxious setbacks so they're not more powerful than the main character.

Lois literally asked him if he was sure that he wanted her to interview him. She's an investigative journalist who's used to asking hard questions, there's a reason she chose and pursued that specific topic. Lois asks hard questions that require hard answers.
And OF COURSE Clark is going to be frustrated! Anyone would in that position! In matters of life and death, why would you waste any time wondering about the political implications of your actions? (people *were* going to die)
But that doesn't erase the consequences either, no matter how good the intent is. The situation is complicated, reflecting the complexity of the world they live in. Two things can be true at once.
This scene depicts who Lois and Clark are at their very cores. A woman willing to uncover the truth at any cost, and a man trying his best to do good in the world. I wouldn't have them any other way.
So many annoying things about this take, another in a long line of Snyder fans presenting this movie in the worst possible light to make their fav look better, but what really irritates me is how it reduces Lois by implying she's just a poor, defenceless woman being shouted at by the mean man when the scene clearly shows her going at him like she would any other interview subject, not holding back, pushing his buttons, getting him on the defensive, and when he calls her out on this ("This is how you're gonna to be?") she like "Fuck yeah this is how I'm going to be, Superman." And yes, this is still preferable to the mopey stoic statue that is Snyder's Superman. Superman is not a robot who stares blankly into the middle distance, he should be able to get upset, frustrated, angry, and have heated debates with the woman he loves, who doesn't exist in the story solely to be calm, loving and supportive like a good faithful girlfriend.
If you think Lois Lane can't handle a man shouting and needs to be coddled, you really don't know or respect Lois Lane.

I had accidentally spoiled myself before watching the series, so I was lowkey horrified to see it happen.
Their reactions were absolutely golden however.
started watching north of north shoutout to the writers of this for their brave but controversial decision to introduce the audience to the character of alastair the way they did lmao

I agree with you so much, i tend to stay away from certain corners of the fandom, not because i hate Erik, but rather i don't like what they're turning him into. He's meant to be unhinged and compelling (with tragic elements), not a Dark Romance ™️ protagonist.
And if my handle is any indication, I absolutely adore Raoul de Chagny. He's been done so dirty over the decades (not just years, DECADES). He and Christine deserve a moment of peace together.
I’m a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera, and Erik is one of my all-time favorite characters — but I HATE with every fiber of my being most of the interpretations people have made of this story. Which creates this cognitive dissonance because, yes, I like the musical (the original one, that sequel they made is a narrative abomination, but whatever) and I love the songs and all that… but Lloyd Webber’s version completely kills what made Erik so interesting by romanticizing him to the extreme and ugh. Plus, it’s the reason why the brunette Christine Daaé became so widespread, which always grates on me. Or the reason of Raouls bashing and hate and sorry but Raoul is my son. But if there’s one thing I truly despise with my whole soul, it’s Phantom by Susan Kay. People treat it like the goddamn bible and honestly, if I start talking about it, they’ll have to lock me up. There’s so much wrong with the characterizations in that novel I could literally write a college essay about it, but the Raoul bashing has reached absolutely unforgivable levels. Like, Raoul de Chagny has never done anything wrong in his entire damn life and I’m honestly so tired of the people. That, and the Christine in Phantom is an insufferable Mary Sue, and Erik… I mean, whatever, I’m gonna shut up. I swear I’m gonna shut up because if I don’t, they’re gonna have to lock me up.
I love the original story because Erik is a total psychotic maniac throwing tantrums like my five-year-old nephew, and he’s clearly several screws loose and we love that for him. I’m rereading the book right now and seriously, what a ridiculous character. I adore him so much. He’s such a fucking lunatic, seriously — I love him so much. It’s like, Erik, you’re 50 years old, what the hell are you doing with your life? But at the same time, you get him, and you grow attached to him. And also, Leroux is super ironic in his narration, and you can really feel the influence of the emerging Freudian theories of the time, with so many analogies in that sense, and it’s just such a brilliant thing.

If Victor Hugo can do it, why can't you?
generally you shouldn't write run-on sentences because they get confusing and it doesn't give the reader a break. that doesn't apply to me though my run-on sentences are fun and understandable and they have a rhythm to it that makes you want to keep reading
