Illustrating some animation storyboards from my home office today! My Wacom Cintiq lives here and it’s much faster and more comfortable for me to draw with a Cintiq. This explainer video involves quite a lot of vehicle illustrations from different angles (I wrote the script and sketched the storyboards so intended this 😁) so used Cinema4D to model and cel shade some vehicles then drop stills of them in the storyboard designs. I plan to use these in the animation too. A behind the scenes peek at some character animation from a recent project. For this project I adapted an existing children’s book to a 4 minute animated story. Here’s a character rig in a composition doing a little jump. When I’m animating characters in After Effects, I often block out the poses and timings first with hold key frames (the little square key frames). Then I’ll turn them all to eased keyframes (the hourglasses) and adjust the timings with the value graph and speed graph. I use the hold keyframes as there’s multiple layers with keyframes and it makes managing them all easier while I plan and try out poses :) Software is After Effects.
