This my friends is what #endometriosis looks like? Am I pregnant? No I had a cyst burst in my stomach, and it swelled up to this size, and it’s extremely painful to move most of the time. We affectionately call it “endo belly.” But I still tend to my responsibilities. No rest for the wicked my friends. The other picture is the bruising on my lower back from the heat pad that gives my lower back and stomach pain relief. That never goes away as long as I have pain and need the pad, which is everyday. The bruising doesn’t hurt, but it’s my exterior reminder of the chronic illness on the inside, no one can see . I try to find the humor in everything, even when it hurts; so my tramp stamp is a cluster of bruises. Life with endometriosis isn’t easy, I miss social events, can’t commit to too many things unless it’s work related. I have to prioritize, I make sure I make a living, then shut down 99.9 percent of the time. Stress makes it worse! As of now there’s no cure I’ve been told. Only a temporary reprieve if I become pregnant. Well that’s in God’s hands. I know he doesn’t give me anything I can’t handle. So I got this! 💪🏻 But I don’t get to forget about this condition hardly ever. Monday night dinner NBD 🤗. Farfalle with, ground spicy sausage,spinach, Brussel sprouts,green bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. A well rounded meal, and I got Mr. Make Life Pretty to eat a hefty amount of veggies. I for one was craving spicy so doused mine with Parmesan cheese and chili flakes, that’s a pic of Mr. Make Life Pretty’s serving. He can’t handle the spicy like I can 😉. I say, the spicier the better! I know I’m a day late, but I want to tribute Grandpa Make Life Pretty! With a loving happy #internationalelderlyday Grandpa Make Life Pretty, is 95 years old and I am his last living relative. He lived during an age that horse back was the only source of travel. I get my equestrian talents from him and my mother 😉! He’s seen the world change drastically before his very eyes; greeted 90 decades with grace and dignity. I have to brag some more, his only ailment is tinnitus. At 95 that’s amazing that he doesn’t need one medication to help him prolong, or make life more comfortable. He’s a happy, content and quiet man. A man who fell in love and married once, and in 1977 when his wife (my grandma) died, he never re-married and spoke of her always with such love and affection! He was an amazing father to my mother, and is a loving grandfather to me. Tonight’s dinner has a touch of my French heritage. The chicken breast was seasoned with moderation and the veggies; mushrooms and zucchini al dente and moderately seasoned as well. La pièce de résistance was my brussel sprouts (deconstructed) sautéed in olive oil with sliced red pears and a touch of salt, then simmered in fresh basil, and honey. Making a delicious topping to the chicken breast. To round out the dish, I used Farro as my bed to the chicken and veggies. All these flavours, and textures made Mr.Make Life Pretty raises his eyebrows. Sunday nights are for #pastadinner (s)! Ever since I was a child Sunday Monday mom, and or dad started early morning making the sauce and letting it simmer for at least 6-8 hours. The house smelled amazing and we’d all get caught sneaking a taste of the sauce through out the day. Well the tradition is alive and well! Mr. Make Life Pretty gets caught red handed, and I have to make extra sauce because he loves it so much! Tonight I made the yearly linguine sausage bolognese. I say yearly because, it’s not the healthiest of sauces. So it’s a treat and we really enjoy carrying on the tradition from my childhood. This recipe and others will be available soon! Today this is what my chronic illness looks like... My blood pressure has been on a decline for a while now. The endometriosis has triggered my defense mechanism of when I’m stressed, my bp drops; it’s very difficult because I get so tired, that I nod off if I sit for more than 5 minutes. The pain doesn’t help the situation either, or stress that I can’t seem kick. I’m usually on the money at 120/80 blood pressure. But I count my blessings and know that it could be worse. At least I can get up walk around and try to get my body to wake up. This too shall pass. I’ve surpassed this before.
