Hello guys, I am Meoww!!!!
I like to write stories, taking existing concepts and transforming them, where each one always has something to tell, something to teach, and something to make you reflect, something deep within.
There's no need to be creative when inventing a concept or a plot. Because not all Disney princesses were the same, even if the plot is the same.
All series, movies, novels, and so on use concepts that have been reused a thousand times before. But what makes them special, different, and remarkable?
the characters
I don't write novels or fanfics, I roleplay. I roleplay with a single person, from whom we create accidental OCs (children/parents of other characters from x fandom). And as I mentioned, I like creating stories. So my only roleplaying partner suffers from my cascade of crazy ideas.
After months of creative stagnation, I returned to writing a new plot as usual, utilizing those OCs as in all our roles. And it was right there that I realized something: no matter what world the characters are in, their life story will always be the same.
That original character, created by the abandonment of his parents, will always be abandoned in every universe, in every plot, because without that event, that character would no longer have an identity. That character wouldn't be who he would be.
Because the character is the one who directs the story, not you.
And what does this have to do with Miraculous and fanart?
Miraculous is living proof that characters are not allowed to behave like characters.Miraculous is living proof of how the production itself manipulates its characters to do what they want and not how they would behave in that situation.
Many will think of Chat Noir/Adrien, but I'm thinking of Marinette/Ladybug. (I will discuss this matter when it is my turn to talk about Marinette, because I really have a lot to say and none of it is bad.)
No matter how much the producers disrespect the characters, their origins can never be changed: because for a Miraculous to be a Miraculous, Adrien must be born and Emilie must die. And it's been confirmed that in another universe, the same thing has happened: Emilie, in all her forms, must die.
Emilie must die for both Gabriel and Adrien to have their conflicts. Emilie must die for the problems to come to light, because this is where the family falls into the hole.
The Agreste family was always an abusive one, but it was Emilie who covered it up instead of resolving it, which is why, at the time of her death, everything seems so chaotic and depressing: Adrien starts wanting to go out, and Gabriel starts being openly harsh and more distant. And there are many points in the story where it seems like Emilie was the emotional support for both of them, the pillar when that family was always broken and Emilie was trying to tape it back together.
It was seen in the Paris Special that both Adrien and Gabriel can view Emilie's death from two perspectives. In fact, if you notice, Gabriel and Adrien's story in both universes is the same, but Marinette's is completely different. I repeat: "No matter how much the producers disrespect the characters, their origins can never be changed".
Gabriel has two paths: overcome and take care of the son Emilie sacrificed. Or be the Gabriel we know so well. In neither case does Gabriel love his son (in fact, I don't think there's a universe that loved Adrien from the start, and that ugly frog doesn't tell me anything), but in the first case, he tries (like Amelie did with Felix: she didn't want him but learned to love him; in fact, she loves him as her son).
As for Adrien, it would be the same case, but it would always depend on Gabriel's choice; if his father decides to get over him, Adrien ends up like Claw Noir, which is quite logical for a 13-year-old boy or older with a father who has a hard time dealing with him and is always busy. In fact, in the special, this (emo) Adrien calls him "a selfless and very busy man." A very normal situation for a preteen if we take away the magical aspect. However, if Gabriel decides to be the villain and not get over Emilie's death, Adrien automatically matures emotionally (no one should deny that Adrien doesn't have a very high emotional intelligence) and decides to be selfless about the issue, because for the family not to end up collapsed, one of them must be strong, and that is Adrien. Even so, there is an episode where he reconsiders granting his wish, and in fact, in the special, the original Adrien admits it, because not even he could get over it.
At this point, Emilie becomes this mysterious, omnipotent being, which, in my opinion, is terrifying. Because in every episode that featured her character, it was an episode that sparked a strong conflict between Gabriel and Adrien.
But you know what terrifies me or gives me a bad feeling? Emilie when she was alive.
We shouldn't talk about the dead, but I can't keep quiet.
Emilie might have remained a good person, even a good mother, but I can't help thinking that she was part of the abuse toward Adrien. I can't help thinking that Gabriel and Emilie loved each other more than their son.
Both Adrien, Felix, and Kagami are confirmed sentiencers, but none of the latter two behave like Adrien. None are as submissive and justify people to the smallest degree. In fact, Kagami has shown much more character, even though his mother, Tomoe, has been just as harsh and controlling as Gabriel.
They'll say: "But it's because Felix and Kagami both carry their amok, but Adrien's amok is Gabriel's, so that's why he justifies his abuse."
So, why does Adrien justify his cousin in the episode "Felix"? Did Felix also have his amok? Why does he even seem to justify Marinette's obvious bullying? Did Marinette control him? And I could give many more examples and I'd never finish.
It's not because of the amok; it's because from a young age, he's been shown that any sign of violence was for a reason, justifiable. At least if he was the one receiving it.
It's recently been seen that Gabriel's harsh behavior had been brewing long before Emilie's death, and it's clear that Emilie was no stranger to this behavior.
And if you're thinking about it: I firmly believe that Emilie justified these attitudes instead of confronting Gabriel, since Gabriel has said how rebellious and stubborn Emilie is, and I think it's obvious that whatever Emilie said to him, Gabriel was on his knees serving him (otherwise, he wouldn't have accepted that she had Adrien, or been so crazy about her to the point of saying "he can't live without her"). However, in the series, barely three months had passed since her death, and Adrien already had a submissive and repressed attitude toward his father (and I assure you, that attitude isn't built in a day, it takes years).
Both Emilie and Gabriel had control over Adrien; so why is Adrien's childhood dream "to be whatever my parents want me to be"?
I should emphasize that it's a childhood dream, and Emilie was very much alive in his childhood. So why didn't Adrien dream of being Spiderman, Batman, a prince, or some such nonsense? Emilie spent time with him, controlled him, and yet she didn't give him the privilege of thinking about himself? Of being more than just Emilie's son?
If she couldn't face Gabriel, why didn't she give Adrien that privilege? Of dreaming? Nathalie, sick and almost dead, told him to be his own person. But Emilie, in Adrien's childhood, didn't do anything? Just create a video when you're dying and then say that Adrien is free?
Do you want me to be truly free, or do you just want me to be free because you can't play mom anymore because you're going to die?
Because the second option makes me think.
And one more thing, why is he allergic to feathers? Neither Kagami nor Felix have similar allergies.
Is it so Adrien can't use that Miraculous? Did you know he'd use it at some point? And why would he use it?
Why did you know Gabriel might ask Adrien for help?
One more thing, besides possibly justifying Gabriel's every little negligence. Why did Adrien decide to run away from home just three months after Emilie's death? Was he never curious? Or, like in his childhood dream, never had the chance? Was he not allowed to?
That's why Emilie terrifies me. Everyone seems to love her, even Felix loves her, even though he knows what it's like to be controlled, to have your identity taken away, and to be treated like a thing, and yet he still loves her. They want to convince me and idolize Emilie as a good person when this evidence exists, and when every time they focus on her, it's a super-horrendous Gabriel and Adrien episode (great examples: Chat Blanc and Ephemeral).
But you know what terrifies me about all this?
Emilie was never a bad mother. I'm convinced she gave Adrien hugs and kisses, cared for him like a mother. But she never loved him as a person until she could no longer be with him.
Neither she nor he loved him for who he was, but for how he would serve them.
That's why Adrien in my fanart is so different from how he was shown in the series, because it seemed cruel to me. I thought it was horrible that he still has the same hairstyle, when that hairstyle was created by Gabriel to be exploited as a labor force. And I know it's more of a common mistake to make characters have the same hairstyle as children and adults, and that the producers of Miraculous are very lazy, but it seemed cruel to me, and I changed it.
I feel like this change in Adrien's hairstyle, this type of hairstyle that's very common in children, speaks volumes about his life; it speaks to the fact that he could have had a moment of peace. The one in the series just tells me that since birth, he's never had anything. So I just wanted this child to have a childhood where he could dress up as Spiderman and have McQueen Crocs.
Tumblr media
I don't hate Emilie. I never hated her, and I never will.
I love her as a character. I love that she moves the world so much even though she's dead, how she destroys what I try to maintain by being so invisible. I love that she's mysterious because she causes so many emotions that you don't know which one is true, and you'll never know because only she has the true version, and she's dead.
It doesn't matter what Adrien, Gabriel, or the world tells us about her. Only Emilie knows.
That's why, when I drew, I kept her face hidden, cut out, covered up, to maintain that aura. And because I love how in old cartoons, the adults couldn't see her face, and they should have used that technique for Emilie and Gabriel.
Thanks for reading, I'm sorry for being inactive.❤
I wanted to talk about these topics from Gabriel and Emilie, but it got too long, so next time you know what we'll talk about and what the fan art will be.
I love you, bye bye💕!!
