THE FIRST TIME

Continuing with the conversation, have you ever wonder about the first time… There are first times for everything, but when in comes to a woman’s first time we all know what it means. Well in this case I don't think we are thinking about the same first time.

As I said, there are first times for everything, but have you ever wonder how many first times does a women have when it comes to her body, its discovery, its sexuality, its reproduction, its development, etc. well… A LOT!

I want to talk about a specific first time, the first time we use a tampon! Do we lose our virginity? do we know how to do it? does it hurt? well, all of these are questions than went through our mind at one point before making the decision to use tampons. But the reality is that we are there alone, no one is gonna go with us to the bathroom and share this experience with us, sure people could explain how to do it, give comfort, but no one is really going to be there taking your hand and helping you, the reality is:  in this first time you have no one!

So there you are, alone in the bathroom with that little friend, scary, small, white little cotton friend. And lets not forget about the options, which one is better, should I use the one with the applicator, or should I use my finger and end up all bloody and messy. How do I feel more comfortable, how do I put it in, ugh such a huge decision.

Nothing is left but to try, just go and get it over with once and for all.

There you are, ready to stand up and face the world, your friends are waiting, everyone is anxious to know how it went, how it feels, so you open the door and go outside the bathroom, give your first step… and… HUGE PAIN! is this how it feels? are you supposed to feel the thing between your legs every time you make a move? Oh lord, why? why did I do this? so you give a fake smile, its okay, I feel… weird… but… ill be fine….

So pretending everything is okay, you put on a bikini and go out to the swimming pool and try to relax, 5 minutes feels like 5 hours, you couldn't be more uncomfortable so you decide to talk. I don't think I like this, it hurts! it feels bad! I wanna take it out!

Laughs…

You put it wrong!! you are not supposed to feel anything, go back and do it again… AGAIN? fuck, there I am facing my little cotton friend AGAIN, the both of us alone. This time I’m supposed to push it until I cant anymore, it is supposed to be at the very end, so I put the whole thing in, push the applicator and release the tampon.

Once more, ready to face the world. worried about the pain, first step, nothing, second step nothing, I feel nothing!! And there is where I realize I have a new best friend.

THE TOILET SEAT

Sitting down thinking of the things we don't talk about, those little things we normally do but that we keep secret. Secret from our friends, our family, even ourselves. Sitting down here I started… I started to say them out loud, asking other women I know if they do them too. Are we too scared to tell the truth? maybe once I say it, everybody will.

So just as friends, casual conversation, no pressure, I asked… What do you do that is not accepted and you know it, but you do it anyway and just never tell? What are those things that you keep as a secret because you are afraid you are the only one that do it?

I got an answer, maybe a silly one, maybe an important one. But deep down I know, I do it too, she does it too, maybe we all do it and just pretend we don’t. So, she said, you know what? I seat down on public toilets, YES! finally another woman that does it too! so, exited I said: “I knew it, I couldn't be the only one”

And the thing is, that is so fucking hard not to seat down on the toilet, do you know the amount of strength thats needed to pee for 2 minutes without sitting? it is almost impossible, and I'm not saying we are all incapable of doing it, some women are experts! they do this very elaborated squad and hold it for hours until they are done. But… Im not that kind, I like sitting, and relaxing, and knowing that all my fluids are leaving my body in a comfortable way.
