I made a pixel lockscreen for my friend since he loves Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Another day, another Pokemon card was created. Thank you James De Los Santos for trusting me! I hope we can see more Pokemons in Karategi!

An early highlight for the month of July.

Finally the physical copies of my pixel artworks will be in TOYCON PH: 2024. My dream of making art and put into events are starting to become a reality. Ofcourse with the help of What's Your Point, Epic Delta, and Total Dibs

BTW these artworks aren't sold anywhere, so make sure to drop by their booth! I wish I could go and see them by myself, but let's see!

THE MONTH OF MAY WAS THE BEST SO FAR.

I just want to share some highlights of my life for the month of May hoping that it might inspire other artists or aspiring artists just like me who took courage in freelancing.

1. This month was my highest in terms of income as an artist. In doing illustrations, pixel art, voxel assets, posters, etc, I've earned around 42k. Tho there's a possibility that it's just a spike, but at least I have living proof that it's possible to surpass my previous salary when I was an employed designer. With this, I can plan ahead carefully so that somehow it could stay within its range.

2. Became the lead artist of Pokeverse with the referral of XOVOX LABS. With 3 months to draw and design everything, it feels good to see your artwork printed throughout the event. I am very thankful to be part of this event despite the "community" issues thrown around them.

3. I've been working with What's Your Point since January, and this month I was promoted from being a Graphic Designer of Quote Posters to an Illustrator for their comics. This couple are the most humble clients, or should I say friends, that I've worked with. WYP is the backbone of my freelancing and will continue to work with them as long as they need me.

4. With connections to WYP, I was referred to as an artist for a Twitch Streamer from Japan named RYEPUNZEL. I've been doing streaming assets for myself but this is the first time that I'll be doing it for someone else and as a side hustle. So far, she's been asking me for more assets after another, which means more profit for me.

5. I was able to give my son, Viggo, a pool party in a private resort. TBH I wasn't sure if I got enough to provide everything for his birthday, but I guess luck was brought by the wind and gave enough to make it happen. Of course, this would not be possible as well without the help of our family and friends.

6. I've been supporting my partner for a year now with her studies in the Alternative Learning System - San Mateo. It was a daily challenge for us in terms of expenses, finishing multiple modules, and balancing our time as a family. But with perseverance, after more than a decade, she finally graduated.

7. My dream of selling physical copies of my artworks is finally coming to reality. In collaboration with the WYP team, we've created a pixel art/fanart Sintra board called "PixoPop". Wall displays that are perfect for collectors who have shrines/altars of collectibles. There's a big chance that you will see them at an upcoming Toy Convention in the Philippines, hopefully!

8. Last but not the least, the MANANAYAW SHIRTS! I did not expect that I would still sell Dance-related apparel since I assume everyone knows that I am transitioning from a performing artist to a visual artist. But Rommel Domingo was entrusted with a brand that was very popular before. My stocks for Mananayaw Shirt are now SOLD OUT! and now I, Stylez Apparel, WYP, and Rommel are planning an event around the last week of June or the first week of July.

A lot of great things happened despite of challenges in life. Honestly, I am not sure if I would still earn this much for this month but at least I am living a dream as an artist because I am earning from doing what I love and at least being able to provide and support my family. I have to ride the flow with expectations of reality but hopeful with plans and goals. I've been in a tough spot financially as an artist before, so if anyone is reading this that had gone through a rocky road, you can still do it. Naive it may sound but as long as you are doing what you love and plan to improve it, new doors will open regardless of a number of doors that closed before. You just need 1 good door that will lead you to countless opportunities. Let's do art and be hopeful!

MY (HYPERPOP?) STYLIZED PORTRAITS

Honestly, I'm still not sure what to call this kind of art style, but I made sure that there were consistent features for each portrait such as the same background but in different hues, white line art for the hair, and added some sparkly effect over the hair.

I would put this approach as a service/commission. Probably around P250-300 I guess. (It's not that easy).
