[ ID: screenshot of text that reads:
One of the biggest markers for maturity is when you become willing to disappoint the people you love in favor of what feels right to you, when you start to unravel the stories you’ve told yourself (or been told) about who you are and what you should be. These stories are the pillars that hold up the jenga-tower that is our ego. As we start to remove them one by one, the whole thing begins to tumble down. This is the process of individuation: becoming who you truly are instead of who you want to be for others. Disappointing people is practically a rite of passage in creating a life that is yours, rather than one your parents, family, friends, or even a younger, more conditioned version of yourself might have imagined for you. /ID ]

she's taught me so many things about nurturing a healthy ecosystem in our yard, and now we have so many charming bugs - the fireflies are in season right now, so many of them in our wildflower garden!
My timeline and dash have 90% more bugs now that I'm following @bugs-are-buddies
10/10 would recommend

Okay, this is pretty incredible. A 3D artist, consulting scholars and archaeologists, worked for a year and a half in Blender to create a reconstruction of pre-Columbian Tenochtitlán, complete with the surrounding landscape. It’s staggeringly beautiful, and—at least to me—gives a wonderful impression of the city as a place where people worked and lived and worshiped

a nice, calm afternoon on the shore of Lake Superior during our visit in late September, 2024. though temps inland were in the 60s, here the steady 30mph wind blowing over chill waters dropped temps into the 40s. only experienced sailors would brave such in anything small enough regular people can own
now imagine sailing a month later:

November 2024 along Lake Superior: much of the month saw sustained winds exceeding 50mph, with gusts up to 81mph
add freezing temps, and only the suicidal would sail into the blue waters beyond which one can see no land
Shout out to that guy from Florida talking to my coworker about wanting to take his sail boat through Lake Superior in November. He was planning on a little trip and my coworker was like hey man I don't know how to tell you this but you will Actually Die
*Lake Superior, in the far distance*: yes yes yes yes yes do it yes yes

did y’all know jumping spiders dream? they wiggle and twitch in their sleep.
paper wasps recognize faces.
rats laugh!
all these little lives that we label as ‘vermin’. as ‘gross’ and ‘creepy’. they are alive and they have as much of a right to it as any of us

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
