Last 100 days of productivity post / studying for exams
Well... its here!
Day 100/100 // 100 days of productivity!
I’ve finally got to the end! I thought that I would never get to the end of this when I started! Since my last exam was yesterday, I thought that I would make this post as a how I studied for exams!
~ Quick disclaimer though... I’m clearly not the best student out there, and some of the bits and pieces which I’m going to say I should’ve started weeks ago! But we learn as we go, and it will just make me a better student for next year! ~
1. Find the learning objectives for your subject at the beginning of your subject. For me they were in a document called the ‘student learning guide’. In that it basically contained all info about the subject, assessment, learning objectives etc. They could also be given to you on a weekly/topic basis since generally the learning objectives won’t be general throughout all topics.
2. When you have found these learning objectives at the end of every week (or end of every topic) go through these learning objectives and relate this content that you’ve learnt back to these objectives. You could do this in different ways, on word, mindmaps, any way you want really. You may be going “Mel, this seems pointless, if I have my notes which I’ve taken throughout the topic, then why at the end do I need to then put my notes under these objective things?” Well! These “objective things” are what your exams or any major assessments will be based off! If they are the things which you are meant to have learnt throughout the topic, then obviously you are going to be tested on them in some way! So basically, do it! (Just don’t be concerned if you don’t add all of your notes in, lecturers and teachers always give you more info than you need, so this is an awesome way of working out exactly what you need to know and what you don’t!)
3. I know that this is something which everyone always says, but keep revising the stuff which you learnt early on throughout the semester/term/year/whatever it is! I’m the first to admit that I don’t do this nearly enough, but even if it is an easy topic compared to others, you will forget bits and pieces of it and if you don’t continue to go over it, it will make those last couple of week leading up to exams 10x harder!
4. Leading up closer to exams now. Go back to these summary type things of your notes to do with the learning objectives and just double check that you have covered all of the statements in the objective, and if not fill them in! Or if you think that something may need to be added, add it in!
5. Do practice exams/questions! If your school or uni give you access to practice exams, questions, or past exam papers, then you should 100% do them! They are the best way of preparing yourself to the type of questions that you should expect to see on the exam. By doing these you will familiarise yourself with the wording of the questions, and what general info they are after. I know for my uni, we have an online learning system thing, and in that for each subject there are forums. One of the best things to do in these forums coming up to exam time is any questions or may have in relation to the practice exams, or even if you want your answers checked, is to post them in the forums and generally teachers will normally answer you and tell you how you were going!
6. The night before your exam or the morning of, do whatever makes you feel confident and puts your mind at ease. If that is doing last minute cram of any sort, do it! If you just want to lay on the couch and watch tv, do it! If you want to make a cheesecake (that may or may not have been what I did), do it! I’ve seen plenty of things before saying not to cram the night before as you will stress yourself out and so on, but if that stops you from stressing, then do it! There is no right or wrong thing to do before your exam, do whatever makes you feel at ease!
Well, that what I did to prepare for exams. I hope that it may help some of you prepare for your exams whenever they may be. Remember, if these tips don’t work for you then thats fine! If you already have really good preparation for exams, then keep doing that! Just find what works for you and do that!

Day 99/100 // 100 days of productivity
An old picture today... why? BECAUSE I FINISHED MY LAST EXAM TODAY!!!!!!!! I’m so glad exams are over! Its practically perfect timing since this post is the second last one out of the 100 days of productivity challenge! I think for the final post tomorrow I’m going to do kinda like a masterpost on how I prepped for exams! Let me know if you think that would be decent or not!

Day 98/100 // 100 days of productivity
After I finished my exam I did some revision for my exam tomorrow. Thankfully (sort of) this exam you can’t really prepare for so I haven’t had to really revise all that much for it

types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize you’ve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if you’re feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you can’t seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. it’ll help bring you back.
if there’s something else going on in your life and you can’t get it off your mind: write down what’s going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. it’ll help you work things out.
if you’re just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and you’ll hit REM and you’ll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if there’s a crash course video online about it or draw out what you’re trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you won’t shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they won’t absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend who’s not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
