Boom Sonic.exe (janky.exe or reboot.exe) AU

Since it’s the Boom universe, he’s gotta be a lil bit of a silly exe and unhinged so his story goes like this:

While in development for a reboot show for Sonic Boom, the animators were having a lot of issues with rigging Sonic’s model for some reason. No matter how many times they tried or what they did, they couldn’t get his head to attach to his body. (I might change it to: “While making Sonic’s model, the team working on him all got drunk, did crack, etc.” Because it’s funny). There were many other complications but his usual appearance looks fine aside from the floating head. Originally they were gonna get rid of the scarf/bandana and change it to something else, like headphones or a necklace. But due to the head being unable to attach, they decided to keep the scarf to try and hide the fact his head is sorta just floating there but change the style and colour. Because of Sonic’s janky model he sometimes glitches out, he randomly clips through things in very obvious ways (like going through walls or fazing through objects), his body occasionally stretches in unnatural ways or limbs completely detach from his body, etc.

It’s kinda a running gag in the rebooted show, but not exactly for Tails. Being Sonic’s best friend and a genius, he wants to do something to help fix Sonic so that he can move normally without worrying about breaking. On the surface he treats Sonic’s issues just like everyone else, but he’s always trying to invent something that could help Sonic since he’s the only one who knows how it really affects him. He even started wearing a sweater that hides his neck so that Sonic won’t feel alone or too self conscious.

Although Sonic is smiling and being cocky on the outside like he normally is, he has his moments where he shows his true emotions. When he thinks he’s alone or when it’s raining, he sometimes cries. He secretly gets jealous of others since they’re all properly rigged and don’t have any problems like him. Sometimes he’ll lash out either verbally or physically. He once punched Tails in the face, cracking one of his goggles.

Since the animators are too lazy to fix Sonic, that means that no matter what Tails does, he can’t fix Sonic. This gives Tails some self-esteem issues but he still tries to help no matter what.

The characters are aged up a bit which is why Tails has the brown on his ears (I was gonna make this a little sadder which is why I aged them up because of the themes I was gonna add but I decided against it because I didn’t want it to be too heavy on the angst). I’m redesigning them both and will be designing the other mains, plus I’ll add other characters who don’t show up in the og show because why not. You’ll def see a style change with the new designs because I’m still developing my Sonic art style.
