HAPPY PERIHELION DAY

The Earth orbits the Sun not in a perfect circle but in an elliptical round. The point where the Earth draws closest to the Sun is called perihelion, which falls between 2 and 4 January every year. (The point where Earth is furthest from the Sun in its orbit is called aphelion.)

This year, @bookofstars and I decided we would celebrate, on Perihelion Day, our favourite Asshole Research Transport aka ART aka the Perihelion of the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland. Just in time, I have finished a little felt model of the Perihelion to accompany my little felt SecUnit, as you see above.

ART is based on this rocket ship pattern, Murderbot based on this robot pattern, Perihelion badge based on this logo by souldagger.

i spent the past week scurrying around to finish making this before system collapse release day, and should perhaps have printed it half a cm larger to make my life easier, but oh well! i'm actually quite happy with the size now that i'm not suffering over lettering detail.

@souldagger very kindly sent me their original perihelion crew logo design to use as reference! (their sanctuary moon design is available here to buy/print your own.)

I created a Taskmaster-inspired zine for @blaseballzinejam this year. I took my figurines of some of my favourite Blaseball characters and created dioramas of them carrying out various Taskmaster tasks.

This is roughly patterned in the format of a Taskmaster episode, so there's a prize task, a team task, two individual tasks. I had an idea for a studio task, but I decided to add in some interactivity where readers get to score the tasks themselves, and it felt antithetical to that idea to add in a studio task where contestants would be marked on a more objective scale of cold hard numbers. So I did away with that and swapped in title cards of tasks that I imagined for each character's best bits, which I also hope gets some sense of character across.

Anyway, I decided to let readers score the tasks so I wouldn't have to come up with numbers on my own after essentially doing the tasks myself and so that I cannot be outright accused of rigging it for Finn James. That also meant that tasks needed to skew more subjective, which was overall better for me because I prefer Taskmaster's artsy and whimsical tasks myself.

Overall this was a lot of work, but I had fun and that's what matters.

I made a poster for each of the historical strategy channels in the Crabitat and compiled them into The Bikeshed for the @blaseballzinejam.

This was my fun silly procrastination project when I wasn't working on Every Day I Do My Silly Little Tasks, although it brought me some grief when I attempted PDF crimes*. Mostly fun though! I'm proud of the bullshit I managed to pull together for StratGen and Hole Strat, as I had to sit and think for quite a bit before I finally came up with concepts I liked for both. (Fizzy Strat required effort, but the concept came to me immediately.)

My original idea for this project was to collage together different landscapes for each of the channels with gameicons.net assets so that the 'tour' aspect would be more of an actual holiday tour poster thing, which was inspired by the NASA/JPL Visions of the Future project. This proved to be too ambitious for me given various limitations, but if anyone wants to actually take this up in any form please go ahead.
