I recently went to a comic con cosplayed as Atsushi and I met another bsd fan near a booth with bsd poster prints for sale and the fan held up a poster of Akutagawa and said “look it’s your husband “ to me and I love that sm😭 the sskk community is amazing irl too hehe

My headcanon is that the Yokohama police force know exactly who Poe is.

But they also know he’s constantly around Ranpo. And not one of them has the patience nor the will power to fuck with someone Ranpo cares about.

They want to live to see tomorrow thank you very much.

I agree completely, I think it’s really sweet and monumental for them if the name jinko/weretiger goes from something derogatory to something heartfelt. It’s something personal to them and I love that. I think Atsushi should definitely call Akutagawa “Ryuu” one day though, that would make my heart explode 🙏

I'm genuinely curious when will Asagiri make Akutagawa call Atsushi as 'Atsushi' instead of Jinko.

So, unpopular opinion #1, but I don't really care about Akutagawa calling Atsushi by his name. Don't get me wrong, that'd be awesome if that happened and it'd surely be of huge emotional impact!!! Something sweet I definitely wouldn't complain about lol. But you see... I find it plenty sweet by itself that Akutagawa has his personal way to address Atsushi. As their relationship progressed and now that we know Akutagawa must care for Atsushi, at some point the epithet completely lost any insulting connotation and started sounding a lot more like a friendly nickname– something Akutagawa insists on using to tease Atsushi and something Atsushi keeps complaining about with no real annoyance, something that is part of that banter and messing up with each other that is so typical of sskk. It feels very personal to their relationship, something that is special to them. Maybe the Atsushi Akutagawa sees is not the Atsushi everyone else sees, and that's why he has a different name. Maybe Atsushi likes to be special to Akutagawa. Maybe what sskk share is only theirs, and it's impossible to frame or put in words: it's something that they have and that is otherwise impossible to understand from the outside and that sometimes assumes a specific form and a unique language, such as Atsushi being Jinko rather than just Atsushi. Again, the nickname just speaks to me of how intimate and familiar and connected they are; I don't think Akutagawa calling Atsushi by his name would necessarily signify an improvement for their relationship.
