Bask under the glorious Palawan sun with the first of its kind Avara Nature Yacht Club.
Imagine this: The sound of waves crashing on the shore and the sunlight peeking through the window wake you up on a lazy Saturday morning. You slowly open your eyes, afraid that you’re just in the middle of a dream. But you’re not. You stand up as you feel the gentle sea breeze touch your face. You go out of the porch and look at the horizon. You take your time to enjoy the beauty of the blue skies and the deep sea. The yacht will be waiting for you whenever you’re ready, anyway. That’s the promise of Avara Nature Yacht Club—the easy life of the seaside.
Established by the Seaside Premier Development Corporation, Avara is the first of its kind nature and yacht club located at Calauag Bay in Taytay, which was Palawan’s first capital.

The plan for the exclusive resort was formally unveiled at the Grand Hyatt Manila led by its President and CEO Ms. Veronica C. Young.
“After many months of sailing and voyaging aboard bangkas and riding waves, we found the perfect island in Taytay, Palawan to be the home of our pioneering project. It is with a great pleasure to present to you tonight, Avara Nature and Yacht Club - the first of its kind in the Philippines, bridging the middle class to the lifestyle of the rich and famous. As Seaside Premier Development Corporation’s flagship project, we aim to redefine seaside living, where nature meets luxury,”
she said in her opening remarks.

Avara, which means Sunshine Island, is an eco-luxurious resort that use solar panels as a source of renewable energy, utilize a recycled water treatment system, maximize a hydroponic garden, and take advantage of other eco-materials available.
Its accommodation is inspired by the Maldivian architecture. Members can choose to stay in a one-bedroom Water Villa with jacuzzi, two-bedroom Water Villa with private infinity pool, or one-or two-bedroom Beach Casitas. Aside from the villas and casitas, Avara members will also have an exclusive access to a two-bedroom yacht with crew for an overnight stay or for cruising around the island and nearby areas. Avara’s yacht features two cabins and a family room in the lower deck; a living room, a kitchen and dining area, and a plunge pool in the main deck; and an open dining space and a sun deck in the fly bridge.
The Avara Island has nothing but the best facilities for its members. Guests will first experience the Avara service upon their arrival at the dock or the harbor. But the ultra-luxurious resort also has a helipad for those who will be coming in by air. VIPs also have the option to skip the reception and go straight to their accommodation. There will also be a boardwalk open for development to entrepreneurial Avara member. Meaning, Avara members can also be concessionaires to open their own business—it could be a coffee shop, a grocery store, a bakery, a souvenir stop, and similar ventures. As support to the member-concessionaires, Avara will ensure that the business will be the island’s lone supplier for the specific product. The island can also accommodate as many as 100 guests at their main dining area and at the grill restaurant. But guests will have more dining options since Avara includes a poolside bar, a seaside bar and lounge, picnic areas, and private dining venues. Avara is fully equipped with a gym, a water sports center, a tennis court, and a golf course to those who want to keep up with their fitness routine. The island also has a playroom and nursery, spa and massage cabanas, a bonfire area, a clinic with an in-house doctor and nurse, and a gaming area for the enjoyment of the Avara members. At any given time, Avara will host up to 300 members to ensure quality service.
As a promised paradise for those who love the beach, Avara offers a myriad of water action such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, jet-skiing, banana boat riding, stand-up paddle boarding, wind surfing, scuba diving, island hopping, and fishing in coordination with neighbor islands. The resort also provides options for on land activities like trekking, biking, and vegetable picking. There are also a lot of activities that Avara members can enjoy outside its vicinity. After all, Taytay, Palawan boasts of picturesque sites like the Canique Waterfalls, the Lake Manguao, the Irrawaddy Dolphins in Malampaya Sound, the Fuerza de Santa Isabel, and the Church of Santa Monica. Taytay is also hope to a paradise-like hidden valley that gives tourists a bird’s eye view of the pristine, idyllic coastal areas of the municipality.

Last October I threw an advance birthday celebration with a few of my blogger friends at the Sundowners Vacation Villas. The place may ring a bell for most of you given the online presence of the said resort, or the many times it had been featured somewhere, from that famous travel website, to your favorite blogger's well-curated gallery. Their beautiful white and blue architectures reminiscent of the famous Santorini has sure caught your eyes at least once in the many hours we spend online. Sitting on the top spot of tripadvisor's list, it's a no-brainer that I'd choose Sundowners not only as the setting for my pre-birthday bash but also the ideal place to welcome my manila friends to my beloved province, Pangasinan.

To accommodate a group of insta-savvy individuals, such as my friends, it takes an aesthetically pleasing place to keep them hyped up the whole trip haha. Gone are the days a good comfortable bed and a sumptuous complimentary breakfast can give one a memorable stay, these days, the interior and the overall look is as important as the quality of service the hotel offers. In short, it has to be instagram worthy, and in my opinion, Sundowners sure has that in the bag.

Let's admit it, in this age of social media, where most go by the saying, 'no photo, didn't happen', we tend to make sure we capture as much memories as possible, may it be for our eyes only, or for the public to see. It quickly became the norm, that it somehow became an issue, breeding a new generation of people who puts more attention to taking photos and videos for the sole purpose of social media content and online validation, rather than living in the now and seizing the moment. I myself has been guilty of this that I've actually once addressed it an entry in the past. read here. I have since then tried to change my ways and I can go on telling you about my more recent realizations, but hey, we're here to talk about the trip, aren't we?

So going back to our trip, It isn't actually my first time to be in Sundowners, I was lucky enough to set foot in the place a year ago when it was still partly unfinished and in the process of turning into the paradise that it is now. I then was able to go back and experience it in a grander scale, when it hosted Zalora's first ambassador's vacation aka the #Zcruise. On my first stay, we were treated to the Panoramic villa which was for me then an already superb choice if you're up for some splurging, but I wasn't prepared for what they had to offer on my next visit. It's given that they'd up the ante considering they're inviting over a big group of influencers & celebrities, but they sure gave us more than what we expected: in the form of a 600sqm, 2 storey, 7 bedroom villa, or what is popularly called now as the Master Villa.

From what I experienced from that epic getaway with my #Zcrew family, I promised myself to go back and relive the beauty before I turn a year older. Fortunately, Sundowners was generous enough to offer my dream birthday week. It was only the most fitting location to throw a party where we can assure of a private and intimate time, plus granting us a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila without having to fly out. the perfect getaway, indeed.
We arrived on a perfectly sunny day, and from then on everything just went as i wish it would be. Call it a birthday miracle, or the universe just being in our favor, It was a delight having Mr. Sun around in the middle of a typically rainy month. The perfect backdrop for our 3 day and 2 nights stay. I mean just imagine having fashion bloggers in a picturesque place only to have it ruined by a gloomy setting or worse, a downpour #nightmare. kidding aside, It was still surreal how everything fell into place, because I admit the planning process was the opposite. Nothing new considering our busy schedules and conflicting commitments, planning trips with my blogger friends is never easy but it always ends up fun, nevertheless.

Our first day was spent mostly getting familiar with place. besides going around our villa, we all went our ways, together with our photographers, and just scattered around the whole compound exploring every nook and cranny and appreciating each detail put into the whole place, and of course, while scouting #ootd locations along the way, which is very typical when you’re around fashion bloggers and instagrammers haha You bet we made the most out of every instagrammable corner, taking several photos in each one making sure we scored the winning shot.

On the second day, a bunch of our other friends started to arrive, that's when the party really started. From spending the whole afternoon in the pool area, blasting our jam, chilling with a beer on hand and our fave bag of chips on the other, to playing games and just getting drunk the whole night. It was just what we all needed, a break from events, client works, and social media. It's such a good sight, having to spend time with your friends sans your phones and all those gadgets, just the classic good time genuine interaction brings. We tend to undervalue that these days.

Third day came and it started to sink in that it was our last day in paradise. but we didn't let that get in the way for us to make the most out of each remaining moment. We ate in our hearts desire and savored the food that was available there because to be honest, Sundowners has one of the best hotel Menus. What I liked most about it is that they offered variety, something most resorts don't put much attention to. We're used to the usual international or Filipino breakfast sets, which is also good but, in Sundowners, they have more like: Persian, American, and my favorite, Dagupeno cuisine. Yes, they really have a section in their menu inspired by my hometown. You can say that was a biased opinion, but what I can assure of is that everything that we've ordered were nothing short of delicious and not to mention, affordable.
To sum it all up, our stay was definitely one for the books. As cliche as it sounds, there's nothing more I can say to express how everything just went the way we expected plus even more. I would like to give a shoutout to the folks over at Sundowners for being so accommodating and offering us nothing but the best, from their smooth service down to their big smiles every time. Couldn’t have spent my birthday week better.

“I wish I was already 21”
I remember thinking to myself a couple of years back, constantly envisioning how great life would be as an adult; free of restrictions and just living my life the way I want to, sans any parental permission or the people’s judgments; the rebellion as they like to call it. Now fast forward to 2016, where all I can wish for is some scientific breakthrough to stop me from aging and be stuck in teenhood forever, I ask myself, why did I ever crave to be in this endless turmoil that is adulthood?
If given the chance to go back and meet my younger self, besides calling out my style choices--or how i thought getting a mohawk on my sophomore year was a good idea--I would most probably tell myself that wanting to turn 21 for a yes to a week-long trip with friends on a far away destination isn't worth it; that getting in with the adult crowd isn't as cool as it sounds, or that having control in everything really isn't the power I've always wanted to have. That getting the last say for a decision and being held responsible for the consequences is something I'm not ready for just yet--and don't even get me started with the bills.
In short, i could just tell myself, Adulthood is a trap. I have long romanticized being of legal age, being in full control of your life and having the final say in things; It may have rooted from the number of times back in the day where I wasn’t taken seriously when I was trying to make a point, or those days i wanted to order a regular serving of my favorite pasta, but was just given a kid-friendly portion(lol). Whatever it was, it made me crave for some sense of superiority, something I always though adulthood would give me.
Technically, I was right. but it not only gave me that, but a lot of other things as well. Things that came with adulthood, which mostly, is something I’m not prepared for, nor expected. That’s when I started to think, is this really what I want? Do I want this amount of power? Can I take this amount of responsibility? Do I really need a fucking set of IDs besides my school ID?!?
By the time I was about to turn 18, I was slowly accepting my fate and preparing myself for the amount of stress and pressure I’m about to get into. I started setting short-term goals, goals I wish to accomplish before I officially graduate from my teen years. I became eager to experience things, explore new boundaries, and just be out there and enjoy the remaining days of what seems to be then, my freedom. I tried a lot of things, majority of which I failed, but I accepted the failures, nevertheless. I committed mistakes, made choices that didn’t produce the best results, and rushed into a lot of decisions without taking things into consideration, nor taking a step back to contemplate on how the outcome will be.
It was fun, exhilarating and quite refreshing to be honest. It got me excited to take on a new day, something I rarely felt the years back; but it was reckless, and most of all, it felt unnatural. Everything was so fast-paced, it felt rushed, somehow forced, to the point that there are days I just sit and think to myself, am I really doing this because I want to, or because I just feel pressured to do so? I end up questioning the fulfillment I get from the experiences and wonder, am I really doing this for myself, or is it to feed the constant pressure of my youth? To make me feel I actually did something with my teenhood, and accomplished a lot of things in an early age. because, let’s be honest, didn’t we all want to be that overachieving teenager we see on magazines or hear about on the news, for once in our life?
My road to 21 was basically a roller coaster ride. I did things I never expected I would do--of peer influence, media, or just purely pressure. I let things influence my decisions and people manipulate my actions. Remember when they said “Do your thing and don’t let anyone dictate you” they’re right, it’s not just some cliche quote you stumble upon google or your timeline. Do I wish I’ve took that advice more seriously back then? Yes, but do I regret having to learn the hard way? No. I took it as a blessing, because without those circumstances I would most definitely still be that guy who lives to please for the wrong reasons and therefore be another wasted youth abducted by the sick system that is today’s generation.
With all that pressure and the sudden influx of responsibilities that came with turning 21, I felt nervous, scared, to say the least. Imagine being thrown into a room and be forced to take a test you don’t even know of and be expected to get perfect results. You end up questioning yourself and all the things you’ve learned from school and ask why adulting 101 isn’t part of any curriculum. You feel depressed seeing people of your age doing good so far and there’s you, still figuring out how to ask for an extra tissue at a fast-food chain. It’s crazy.
But one thing I learned is that I’m not alone. A lot of us, if not all, went through this phase, the adjustment from a stubborn teen to a full-functioning adult. Some may have mastered it earlier than most of us but what’s comforting is that we all are just figuring out how things go, and this goes on forever. Nobody has perfected the craft and that’s okay. I’ve always thought that I’m not prepared for the responsibilities--and never will I be, and that I don’t know how to handle adult situations, but the thing is, there’s a possibility that the person beside you is feeling the same way; and if that doesn’t reassure you that everything will be fine, then I don’t know what will.
Eventually, everything will fall into place, it might seem hard for now, maybe even impossible, but hey, you got through high school didn’t you? that’s some hell, and if you got through all that drama and bullshit, then you can surely adult lol kidding aside, what I just wanna say is that I may sometimes look like I know what I’m doing, but trust me, I don’t. as well. We’re all just learning here every step of the way, we will commit mistakes, and that’s okay, that’s part of the process. What we shouldn’t forget is to enjoy and just live while we’re at it. Inside, we’re all still the kids that we were, and we’ll always be that “clueless adult looking for an adult without realizing you’re actually that adult but you still look for an adultier adult, someone better at adulting than you” adult. you feel me? haha

Long time ago, when rock concerts was at its peak, where crowds flock to sing along –and recording every highlight was the least of their priorities. Band tees would symbolize one’s fandom. not only is it your average overpriced cotton tee, but it signifies one’s interest to a certain degree, sort of like a badge of loyalty. I mean what better way to say ‘I actually went to their concert’ than a shirt that says you did.
Fast forward to 2016, where we line up for concerts to be in a sea of smartphones and be surrounded by people who’s most likely there for the sake of posting about it; the then-sacred band tee is now just another piece of clothing that gives anyone an easy ticket to looking cooler and more ‘badass’ than they actually are. Do you really think that hot instamodel on instagram has Slayer on her music library? I bet not.

With a multitude of fast-fashion brands hungry for the newest trend, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of these shirts on store displays and digital campaigns anytime soon. Just recently, H&M released a collection of vintage merch-inspired tees featuring the classics like Nirvana, Gun’s & Roses, and Metallica. Pretty sure we all saw that coming. But as it normally goes in the fast-fashion scene, with every trend that crosses over to the mainstream department, their expiry date unfortunately comes with them. It’s only a matter of time until a new fad falls prey to the ruthless industry and be labeled as another disposable trend.

This movement, similar to how it is with the skateboarding community, may cause an uproar from the real metal and rock fanatics, and be considered as another case of cultural theft ...buuuut that’s another story, something too critical for me to delve into for now haha

You can call me Christian Green. kidding.
The weather hasn’t changed a bit ever since the past few weeks; one day you’re dying of heat exhaustion and the next day your hopping from one rain puddle to another. A daily heads up would’ve been great, something to save a pair of white sneakers from a muddy misfortune, or a poor guy prepped up for a cool weather--only to be drenched in sweat the whole day. but who are we kidding? when did the weather become anything less than the ruthless bitch we all know and hate.
but as annoying as it is, we can’t forget the fact that we get to use that portion of our closet we’ve always loved but never had the chance to--because *heat*--and play around with layers for a change. A layer or two is fine, anything more than that is a guaranteed case of sweaty underarms; but hey, the #SweaterWeather don’t come often, so you could expect me abusing the chance.

I came up with this monochromatic ensemble the moment I saw that first raindrop on my window and felt the cool wisp of air come through. For layering maniacs, much like myself, that could only mean a go signal for that sweater you’ve scored at an end-of-season sale a couple of months back, or that bulky bomber jacket you’ve been wanting to show off.

No ice humanoids here.
You’re probably wondering what this post have to do with the title’s reference, sorry to disappoint your eager GoT hearts, but there won’t be any season 7 promos here; just some guy too lazy to think of a blog title for an outfit entry. My apologies, but hey since you’re here, might as well read on and see more of this look. Clickbait much? lol
If you noticed, I’m really into the whole over-sized movement that is currently making waves in the fashion scene. From loose tops to XXL trousers, looking through catwalks and magazine spreads lately would make you want to get a size larger or two when buying garments for the season.

Wore my black crew neck long tee from Cee Market(@_ceemarket on Instagram) and paired it with my oversized trousers from Exclusively His. Now I know Exclusively His is known for custom-made, tailored-to-perfection pieces, but it’s fun to shake it up sometimes for a fresh and more trendy approach. I also got the hems slightly frayed, to give it a raw touch.

I threw in my white denim jacket from Zara that had this tattered details that I thought would complement well with the raw hem of the trousers. I wanted the outfit to look dapper but at the same time laid-back, and I think the raw details gave that right amount of unpolished vibe, enough to make the whole ensemble look somehow effortless.

It’s never too early to give hints.
Ever been in those days when you scroll through your favorite online stores and can’t help but make a list of things you’d want to wake up to on your birthday--or if you’re lucky-- under your tree this holiday season. You’re not alone my friend, we’ve all been that kid writing to Santa on Christmas eve and had our share of make-a-wish moments at least once or twice. Thankfully, Shopback’s cooking up something for us that can possibly turn this daydreaming session of ours a reality. read on to find out..
In case you didn’t know, Shopback.ph --which you can know more about on my recent entry, here--is having this really cool contest for bloggers. Basically, all you have to do is to create an entry featuring a list of products from Shopback’s extensive list of merchants that you’d want to have, much like a wishlist; Include why you want them, and how you can save on these items if you get it through ShopBack, and stand a chance to get your hands on each one, or even more! Easy right? Now if that doesn’t make you compose a wishlist stat, then I don’t know what will.

By now, you’re probably starting to create an entry inside your head, or maybe even picturing yourself wearing every single thing from your list already--like me haha. but hold your horses for now and spare a few minutes to go over their full mechanics and learn more details about the contest, here.
Here’s my wishlist:

1. ASOS Wool Mix Overcoat In Khaki
Overcoats may not be considered a staple from where I live but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to have this piece I came across on ASOS a few days ago. Besides the color, which obviously is my favorite, its basic silhouette and the material used made it a more perfect piece for the season.

2. ASOS Faux Suede Biker Jacket In Tan
This one caught my eye while browsing through jackets on ASOS. It’s a new take on the classic motorcycle jacket. Lesser on the tough appeal but a notch higher on the trendy side, this jacket gave that right amount of update we all wanted for this wardrobe staple, and I sure want to get my hands on it, asap.

3. Dr Martens Original 3-Eye Shoes 11838002
I have always been on the look out for the perfect derby shoes and this Dr Martens pair I found on ASOS might be the answer. It has the classic shape that I love but with the signature sole that the brand is known for which I think gives the pair that unique touch.

4. ASOS Bomber Jacket With MA1 Pocket In Camel
Unless you’re living under a rock, you’d know by now that bomber jackets are the new black. Everyone from famous celebs, to our favorite online personalities are throwing these bulky cover-ups over their outfits, may it be formal or casual. A bomber jacket can take any look to another level much as this white number I stumbled upon ASOS.

5. ASOS Leather Biker Jacket With Belt in Black
This is a no-brainer. A black leather jacket is one wardrobe essential worthy of your investment. It never goes out of style and is considered a classic. I have a few leather jackets on my rack but I’m still on a hunt for the perfect motorcycle jacket, and so far this one from ASOS might be the answer to my James Dean daydream fantasies.

Boracay like you’ve never seen before.
Back then, powdery white sand and crystal-clear shores would come to my mind whenever I think about Boracay. An escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and definitely a place for tranquility; Years passed, and a few labor day weekends later, the island we all know and love has been stripped off it’s pristine roots and is now an emerging destination for nightlife and hangover-guaranteed rendezvous.
Last month, I was Invited over to the island again with my fellow bloggers but this time, for a relaxing and a more private experience in the comforts of this premiere beach sanctuary, Rieseling Boracay. Located at Bolabog beach, The resort offers majestic beachfront views minus the bustling crowd, giving us a pleasant ambiance of the island life that Boracay is originally known-for.

The whole place is designed to reflect the Filipino lifestyle, with insta-worthy suites uniquely decorated with indigenous furnishings and interiors, the resort would surely capture the eyes and hearts of any self-proclaimed instahoe, much like myself haha

One thing I love about this resort is the privacy it offers. Since it isn’t located at the main beaches, it gives its guests the same white beach views sans the busy crowd that’s always present when you’re staying on the other side of the island. With the resort offering only around 13 different but equally cozy suites, It almost feels like having a beach all to yourself!

In-house guests can enjoy the resort amenities including Rieseling’s very own Beach bar + Cafe--which in my opinion serves one of the best complimentary breakfast on the island, a swimming pool, meeting room, In-room massages, and my favorite, free WIFI. Also, guests can avail room service from 7am-10pm.

Another thing I love about the resort, is the location. It offers a tranquil atmosphere conducive to private bonding, yet, just a stone’s throw away from the famous white beach. So you can peacefully relax over their in-house cocktails at the pool area during the day, and go harder on drinks and dance the night away at the usual white beach clubs, like Epic Boracay.
Sadly, I didn’t have any photos from our night out at Epic but it sure stood up to it’s name. We had the most epic time partying and drinking that got us into all kinds of (good)crazy, like crashing dance showdowns and inviting foreign strangers over our VIP table that the folks at Epic was kind enough to offer us--Thanks again! btw, if you’re wondering, yes, that turned out well. They’re actually some really cool foreign volunteers on a vacation. we still get in touch thru snapchat lol The night may have resulted to an epic hangover, but hey, It’s Boracay haha It was all worth it at the end, i should say.

I’ve also learned that Bulabog Beach is the island’s watersports capital, noted for its attractive, laid-back community vibe. So if you’re tired of the usual nightlife in Boracay, let the folks at Rieseling introduce you to other fun things you can do in the island; besides, the beach is just a few steps away from your room. Now who said staying on the other side of the island would be boring?
My blogger buddies and I got to try the Mermaid lessons all thanks to Rieseling Boracay in cooperation with the Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy. It was initially offered to the ladies, and us guys got the paddle boarding lessons--which was also fun. but hey, who wouldn’t want to experience being a mermaid--or merman in my case, for once? HAHA

On the second day of our four-day trip, we were invited over for lunch at the Villa Contessa. It’s situated along a cliff on the east side of Boracay that gave guests of their balinese-inspired home a more stunning view of the Bulabog beach.
Besides the opulent interiors and picturesque views, the food as well did not disappoint. The owner was kind enough to cook it all for us, and you can definitely feel the love and passion in every bite you take on each scrumptious dish she place on the table. Tita Tootsy, as we call her, did not only offer good food, but entertainment as well. She always had interesting stories to tell and funny comebacks in between. Her energy was always so high and infectious, she’d get you dancing on your feet on a hot afternoon. I can definitely say that our trip wouldn’t be as fun and memorable without her.

To make our getaway more relaxing, we were all brought to the multi-awarded, Mandala Spa and Villas Boracay to experience their signature treatments and services. As someone who enjoys a good pampering session, I probably was the happiest to know about it being part of our itinerary.
The whole place is huge, and unlike the usual spas in the city, Mandala is more of an estate where you get treated to a villa of your own, one of many that spread around the lush-filled sanctuary, ensuring privacy and a more satisfying retreat.

On our third day, we got to have the famous Boracay Suncruiser all to ourselves. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, given that we got to spend the whole afternoon on board Boracay’s ultimate party boat with nothing but good food, good drinks and great company. The huge inflatable slide and the two-storey high jump-off pad made the experience even more fun and exciting. With all that going on, being stuck in the middle of the ocean surely never felt so good.
A lot of things happened in those four days and as much as I want to share every detail with you guys, I don’t think any of us would have the time and effort to read the whole thing lol but I sure am thankful to have been part of this, nevertheless. And as I end this entry, I would just like to give a shoutout to kuya Melo of Outoftownblog.com and the kind folks at Skyjet Airlines and Rieseling Boracay for an unforgettable trip.
Oh and to the cool #TitasOfBoracay aka the owners of Rieseling Boracay, can I just say that I never met any owner as welcoming and hospitable as you all are. Thank you for the fun conversations over your signature cocktails and delectable food that you all have prepared with love, and for bringing us around the island and introducing us to the other side of Boracay I never even knew existed. I could only wish to be as cool, fun, and energetic as you guys when I grow old lol Surely, I’ll never forget you guys, till next time!

Rain, rain go away ..but not really.
Saying the weather’s pretty bad the past few days is definitely an understatement–that is, if you’re in Dagupan. I would’ve been somehow happy with the news if I was a student unprepared for a certain quiz, or a lazy-ass dodging a meeting that could’ve been just an email, but no. We’ve been experiencing heavy rains non stop in my city since the week started, and as a twenty-year old struggling through the early stages of adulthood, this is just not acceptable. With rising floods and heavy traffic everywhere, cancelled plans and postponed meetings, yes, it may bring in the layer weather we all know and love, but the rain just like to suck out not only my productivity, but my will to live as well. #halfjoke

Moving on, as stressful as it may be to go from one errand to another on this bipolar weather, my daily routine must go on. These are the days when I feel very thankful for the internet and the whole online technology thing we got going on. The privilege to tick things off our daily agenda with just a few taps on our phones, oh aren’t we lucky.

Not only does it help us with our errands but with our ‘me’ times as well–in my case, shopping! I think we could all agree that an online retail therapy session from time to time can cure a rejected output/proposal, a failed attempt on flirting with a potential cutie, or the usual feud with a marcos apologist on some comment box online, you know, the daily struggles. Online shopping is like that friend of ours who offers their food, and genuinely wants us to have some. In short, they’re God’s gift to man.

So a few days ago, I was scrolling through one of my favorite online shopping destinations, Zalora. It’s actually a thing of mine to visit from time to time and see If there’s anything worth adding to my cart or at least my wishlist. It’s an oddly satisfying process for me and somehow gives me joy despite knowing I won’t purchase most of the items I include on my list lol #virtualwindowshopping

Anyway, I stumbled upon this pair of shoes that I really liked and I knew I just had to have it, so being the compulsive shopper that I am, I instantly filled in the order form and clicked purchase. This may sound all typical–specially of me, and might get you wondering why the need to share this with you all, but unlike any of my past online purchases, I managed to save money while online shopping this time.

For those of you who still don’t know what Shopback is, it’s an app that gives you cashback rewards for your online shopping! Yes, you heard that right, it’s basically like being paid just for buying stuff you like, cool right? It’s very easy and convenient as well, You just browse through hundreds of their merchants and click on any store you like, you then get redirected to the selected merchant’s site(stay on that page all the way), shop as usual and make your purchase on the merchant’s site, and tadaa your cashback will be automatically added to your ShopBack account within 48 hours! So, remember the pair of shoes I mentioned? I got them at a steal thanks to Zalora coupon codes and the 12% cashback from ShopBack!

Coat, Zara
Buttondown, Topman
Pants, Uniqlo
Shoes, Zalora

So if ever you find yourself feeling guilty on splurging on another pair of white sneakers, maybe this will help HAHA but kidding aside, I really think Shopback.ph is a great app specially for us fashionistas trying to make the most out of our online shopping experience. You can look at all the fashion stores available on Shopback here!

Boracay in less than 30 minutes? yup, it’s possible!
Last July, my blogger buddies and I were invited over to the beautiful island of Boracay by the cool folks of the Rieseling Boracay–Yes, that instaworthy island sanctuary that’s been gracing my instagram feed lately. Although, as eager as I am to write about our relaxing getaway and why I find the people there cool, let me just share to you my unforgettable experience with the guys that brought us there.
“Sky Jet Airlines is the first boutique airline in the Philippines. SkyJet was founded in 2005 and officially began commercial operations in December 2012. The airline flies from Manila to three exotic local destinations: Batanes, Palawan, and Boracay.”
So the night before our trip, I being the lazy-ass procrastinator that I am, was still packing for a four day getaway without a single info about the itinerary, flight details or more so our airline–well except for the time of the flight, of course. I have this annoying tendency to only care about my trip the day before, it sucks but trust me, I’m working on it lol
As I finished throwing clothes onto my luggage, I immediately checked my email for updates, and there I found the organizer’s mail …that was sent to me two days earlier *insert facepalm meme* I could blame my unorganized mail for it, but who am I kidding haha. So come 2am, I traveled to Manila from Dagupan, and went straight to the airport, which–for the first time ever–made me the first person to arrive at a call time*confetti* Yes, I might have arrived 3 hours earlier which i lowkey regret, but hey, for once I’m early.
It was my first time riding Skyjet, and to be honest, I didn’t knew such airline exist up until I saw our flight ticket. Sponsored trips would usually book us CebuPacific or Air Asia flights–PAL if we’re extra lucky–so I really didn’t know what to expect on our flight then. I had to do a quick research on the said airlines while waiting at the passenger’s area just to assure I was in good hands, and thankfully, we were–based on a lot of good reviews that I stumbled upon online.
First thing I loved about my experience with SkyJet, is there were no delays! Having flights that were on time is sort of a rare occasion for me, so being able to board the planes–to and from Kalibo–smoothly at the exact time given sure was a delight. Second, They allow up to 10 kilos of checked-in luggage and up to 7 kilos hand carried bag, and as a guy who never understood “pack light”, this was good to hear. Third, they offer free snacks! okay I know this isn’t necessary, but other airlines don’t offer this anymore. I know it’s a small gesture but their attention to details like this says a lot on how they treat and value their passengers.
I also noticed how they handle turbulence pretty well compared to others. We all know this is something we experience most of the time on a flight; that annoying part where you suddenly feel like you’re on an off-road adventure, which, if you’re unlucky, could last for a few minutes. So I was impressed on how it wasn’t as bothering compared to other budget airline flights, add in the pilot’s constant updates and reminders, it sure made us passengers felt secured and in good hands. The cabin crew we’re consistently nice as well and are always quick to accommodate to each passenger’s concerns and needs all throughout the flight.
For a tiny aircraft, SkyJet airlines sure exceeded my expectations. I might have underestimated it at first, but it has proven itself to be a good contender along with the more popular airlines we are all used to.

Nightmares and mushroom-shaped houses not included.
There’s nothing ground-breaking about seeing our cult classics printed on shirts nor is it new that we consider it a trend. We’ve seen people wear our favorite movies, bands, even iconic brands, proudly on their chests ever since; May it be a loyal fan or–in my case– someone who just thought the graphics go well with their brand new overcoat lol, these vintage shirts are your definite go-to piece that will never go out of style. We’ve seen this trend evolve throughout the years, and like a good ol’ bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, it just gets better with age.
Along with the t-shirt movement that’s making the reins, comes the cropped trousers + socks & sneakers combo that’s been a staple on the instagram feeds of every pseudo/streetwear grammers and style aficionados alike. A nod to the skater culture with a normcore influence, this trend puts all your dad’s hand-me-down trousers to good use. Whether it be altered or loose, the hems frayed or sewn, in brushed cotton or pinstripe; the key is in achieving a relaxed fit and laid-back vibe that screams ‘I don’t give a single fuck to the world’

Coat, Zara
Freddy Krueger Shirt, Vintage
Pinstripe Trousers, Thrifted
Leather Tote Bag, Acne Studios

Hello from the countryside.
Dropped the eastern influence for a while, and took a left turn towards the west in this latest entry. A less direct interpretation but still a nod to the cowboy culture, I spent our second day in the summer capital, channeling good ol’ Yosemite sam sans the stetson hats and leather chaps.
Western calling, perhaps? Gave my classic Straightforward button down a ‘country’ flair with this season’s fad, the neckerchief. Yes, that thing tied around on everybody's necks nowadays. To take it more on the casual side, and somehow add color to the neutral scheme, I threw in my favorite denim jacket--which is fyi, thrifted, and paired the look with my white sneakers from Mr. Monkies. To top it off, I did a subtle take on the usual stetsons and wore a wide-brim fedora from the SM store, and added in my Daniel Wellington watch to finish the look.

Buttondown, Straightforward
Chino pants, Uniqlo
Sneakers, Mr. Monkies
Fedora hat, SM Department store

Go for gold they said, so I did. literally.
I have always heard about skin care products and treatments that involves using Gold. As fancy and promising as it sounds, It never occured to me to get in on the trend and test it for myself; nor did I bother doing a quick research on how this compound can contribute to better results. Although I admit, It always kept me intrigued.
Last month, I was invited by Orogold cosmetics to test out their line of Mens skin care products infused with--you guessed it-- Gold! 24k Gold to be exact. As a grooming buff, I had to seize the opportunity and break my curiosity over this latest sought-after skin care innovation.
Branches:
Century City Mall, Kalayaan Ave. cor. Salamanca St. Brgy. Poblacion Makati City 1210 63 917 527 5373
Robinsons Place Manila Midtown Wing, Level 2, Pedro Gil, cor. Adriatico Streets, Ermita, Manila 63 917 624 5218
Newport Boulevard, Newport City, Pasay, 1309 Metro Manila, Philippines 1-877-554-1777
I arrived in their Century City Mall branch fresh from hell that is Edsa traffic so you can bet I looked haggard and very much stressed; Thankfully though, the kind folks over at this branch were very accommodating, and the interior and overall vibe of the place was very pretty and soothing which helped me forget about the chaos outside. Also, the free treats and the bottle of wine on their lounge definitely put me on a better mood.
The treatment started just a few minutes after I settled down at their lounge. I was brought to their treatment area and got oriented on what I was about to go through as I lay on their comfortable reclining beds. It was more of a pampering session, in my opinion. The whole process was very relaxing but informative as well, since the representative talks me through further details about the products while they applied it soothingly on my face. I swear, I could be there the whole day haha

Orogold 24k Men’s series: Men's Deep Pore Cleanser, Men's Aftershave Balm, Men's Hydrating Moisturizer
After the session, I could immediately feel subtle results. My face was moisturized, but not oily, more energized, but with a lighter feeling. Products rarely impress me, and Orogold’s 24k Men’s series is definitely one of that chosen few. I now don’t wonder why most of my friends swear by Orogold’s products. It might not be as affordable compared to the usual brands on the market, but I do believe you get your money’s worth with their products, and I think that’s a good investment, don’t you think?
