I always hear myths about sailors stealing a selkie's skin, and the selkie marrying him even though he stole it. I know that it's because they had nowhere else to go, and he usually hid the skin, but I wonder what would happen if a selkie fought back?

This was made for art class, and my teacher wanted us to redraw a scene from a fairytale. I couldn't find any selkie myths where the selkie was aggressive, but I really liked the idea of a selkie fighting back and forcefully taking back what was stolen, so I kinda just bent the rules a bit, but it's still good. I still might get at least a B on it.

It was also my first time doing a color study. It's interesting seeing how much different the concept looks vs the final piece.

My children and I lived under bombardment and aggression. We had a safe home full of dreams and a bright future for my daughters.

But everything changed when the war on Gaza began. Our house, which we built with strength and effort before the war, was destroyed.

We lost our job, which was our only source of income. The journey of displacement and moving from one place to another began without the minimum necessities of life. We faced difficulties in providing healthy food and clean water. We lived in fear and terror. My daughters could no longer sleep from the intensity of fear.

My mother-in-law suffers from serious lung infections and chronic diseases, and we find it difficult to provide appropriate treatment for her, especially in the winter and the bitter cold. She is part of our family after losing her husband. We are now without shelter, moving from one place to another, and struggling to survive. Today we have no income, no life, and no work. We are determined to rebuild our dreams, secure our future, and rebuild our home. We cannot do this alone and we need your help in building our lives. Your support, no matter how small, can make a big difference. Thank you for helping us find hope on our journey.

I know that you have felt bored towards us, but we are also dying every second from the oppression and woes of the merciless war. The war has lasted for almost a year and a half. Imagine, as a human being, living under all this pressure and suffering, food, drink, displacement, and fear, and you do not have anything in your hands. Please, I am a mother with two children. I am not important. What is important is my children. You are needed. You can help me with anything. Please, I speak to you with your conscience and humanity. Everything has become more expensive than ever before, and we can barely get it because of the severe siege on us. My children have lost a lot of weight due to the lack of nutrition, and on top of all this, they have been deprived of their childhood. We no longer have a life. We could die at any time. At least your help can enable them to do what they need and to buy them what they want before anything bad happens. Do not be lenient. I know that you are fed up and bored, but at least you can help me and be a support to me and my children.

Bombs are still falling on Gaza, and the situation only worsens. Dina and her children have been living in these conditions for over a year. She deserves better, her children deserve better. Please help my friend, I don't want to see her family continue to suffer. It breaks my heart hearing the fear and danger they live in every day, and I only hear a fraction of what is their reality.
