jeanpiku hc office au; jean in commercial/marketing and pieck is in supply chain. they never see things eye to eye, constantly in argument, and during monthly meeting and both had to be present you can expect the meeting to end later than scheduled.

“if your team did their job we could’ve grab all the potential sales and had higher number this month” “well if your team did more accurate forecast and better at communication we could’ve helped” and their team members would be like um guys should we do something

until one day jean’s mom came into town. jean had to stay at work late and his mom got bored at his apartment (he told her not to go anywhere without him due to safety reasons) so she decided to go out for a walk and do some groceries and surprise him with his fav food, but then on her way to the grocery store someone tried to steal her purse and that’s when pieck came to the rescue and basically kicked his ass (mind you she actually holds a black belt) then she and jean’s mom had to go to the police office for questioning and such. and when jean’s mom called him he immediately dropped everything he was doing - didn’t even got the time to explain to his team and ran as fast as he could. and boy was he surprised to see pieck with his mom and he swears he’s never seen pieck with such genuine smile.

going home, jean’s mom insisted pieck to join them for dinner. pieck looked at jean; they weren’t exactly friends and as much as she wanted to say yes (jean’s mom is lovely and she misses home and home cooked food) she just wanted to make sure if he’s okay with having her along - they weren’t exactly friends to begin with. and jean was like ‘you literally saved my mom why would i mind??’ but he only replied with a short “sure, that’s the least we could do”

during dinner jean’s mom and pieck kept talking about so many things as if they have known each other for years, in which jean felt very left out. then jean’s mom asked “what is my son like at work? do you guys work together?” jean was about to say “mom pls we don’t really—“ when pieck opened her mouth and say “your son is very hardworking, he’s actually considered one of the top talents. he takes care of his team very well and his team respects him a lot, so you don’t need to worry” never in his life he ever expected that coming out of pieck’s mouth but he’s thankful she did that.

after a wonderful dinner and full stomach, jean offered to walk pieck home eventho she didn’t feel it’s necessary ‘i have a black belt i can take u down if i wanted to’ ‘can u just pls help me and my gentleman image in front of my mom’ so she agreed.

it was a quiet walk, awkward even. years of working together they never really had a conversation. “so… did you really mean it? when you said i did a good job?” “well i never said you’re horrible; your temper, yes. your work, no” and that night they decided to call truce.
