I have zero clue if anyone's done this concept before for an Akumatized!Marinette, but I think a Spider-themed Akuma based around the Greco-Roman myth of Arachne (Arachnette?) just works too well not to try and sketch out myself. Especially in the wake of the Season 5 finale, where she a.) was forced to weave an elaborate web of lies about her confrontation with Gabriel, the Wish, and his death, and b.) was unable to stop Monarch from accessing the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous to make the Ultimate Wish--the mission she's had since the very beginning of the series. I can only imagine how miserable girly's feeling in the aftermath and the potential Imposter Syndrome that comes with her involvement in all of it.

So, an Akumanette who believes her Akumatization to be divine retribution for thinking that she could have ever been strong or special enough to embody the traits of the gods? It seems rather fitting here imo. :)

The design is a bit busy, I'll admit, but I was having way too much fun trying out brushes that I don't normally use. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out all things considered!

Been working on College/Uni designs for the main girls! The computer that I regularly use for digital art is out of commission though :/, so I've been unable to work on Bella or Emma. But for now, here's Cleo and Rikki!

MerMay got me thinking of the (totally real and not at all imagined) lost scene from S3 of H2O: Just Add Water where Cleo admits in an offhand comment that she and Charlotte are actually quite close now that they’ve put their petty feud aside and frequently send each other pictures of their art. And honestly? Good for them.

i KNOW ive said it before but h2o really missed the ball having their only foray into vigilante justice be the one time where they said rikki you cant kill people :((. those girls should have been superheroes. they shouldve been terrorising the gold coast with their cool mermaid powers by night (full moons exempt). cleo would have epic heists in pet shops where they dont give adequate tank space to the fish. rikki would have lightning strike suspiciously close to dodgy people who need a serious vibe check. emma would ensure ash's body was never found

In an alternate time, S3 still has Emma on the show and Cleo still gets the same character arc of maturing and becoming more responsible, something that Emma initially approves of (while Rikki sarcasticly makes jokes out of the fact that Cleo is no longer her "Sloth buddy" and is now a "Study bee" like Emma of course), however, over time as Cleo's grades improve and it becomes easier for her to grasp concepts, Emma starts feeling Jealous and threathened by Cleo, and starts studying obsessively in order to ensure she is number one, her jeaulosy reaches a breaking point when Cleo gets better grades than her at a SCIENCE- related subject (subject that cleo historically was always bad at) at which point she does active recall (flashcards) obsessively thinking that way she will be able to "win" Cleo, whilst Cleo has developed better study methods by using more than one in order to learn better (i'm aware this doesn't happen in S3 and Cleo is still sloppy at study methods but we need Emma to be interesting ok?), Emma's jeaulosy makes her eventually despise Cleo as she views her as everything she wants to be and is not, causing her (and not Rikki) to keep the Water tentacle encounter in S3E16 a secret.

Emma's (and Cleo's) arc reaches full circle in S3E26, as Cleo receives her dux in science, Emma is visibly upset but tries to hide her discomfort as the trials and tribulations of S3 made her realize she can't always be number 1.

(Rikki can be the person that shows Emma how to be comfortable not being numer 1 i guess, she was always the more laid-back person of the bunch)

TL; DR:

Emma:

Want: To be perfect, number 1 at everything in life using the same study methods that have historically worked for her.

Need: To understand that she won't always be number 1 in life, and that she needs to step out of her comfort zone if she wants to be better in life.

Okay no but seriously...this question has been haunting my dreams for years. I’m still of the opinion that a graphic novel series would be the best way for them to continue the show. Literally all the barriers that would make a Season 4 unrealistic could be solved this way: 

No need to reconstruct old sets or design new tails. 

Any character is fair game to appear since they wouldn’t have to rely on the actors’ availability to reprise their roles. 

No ludicrous budget for CGI = potential for more magical plotlines and hijinks. 

There wouldn’t have to be a large time skip. The story could start right where it left off and allow the girlies to still deal with teenage shenanigans (Cariba Heine mentioned in a Yahoo interview that she felt a reboot wouldn’t work because adult mermaids wouldn’t be as relatable to a preteen/teen demographic). 

And, if it did turn out horrendously, the graphic novels would be considered level-two canon that fans could just ignore and pretend that it never existed. You know, like Mako Mermaids.

if h2o was renewed for a fourth season back in 2010, what do we think it would have been like? would jonathan shiff et. al have stuck with the season three trio, or tried to bring claire back to play emma, establishing a mermaid foursome that contradicts the theme song? would we get a whole new trio of mermaids, even? what other characters might they want to leave behind, and would they bring any back from previous seasons?

would the overarching plot be most similiar to the season three water tentacle's magical fantasy elements, or would they return to previous seasons' depictions of the main plot tying back to the ancestral mermaids? would jonathan shiff commit war crimes against the jewellery industry once more like he did with the blue crystal lockets? would ronnie the dolphin take centre stage? what do we think h2omies (h2o homies)

I have a sudden, primal, and insatiable urge to read a fanfiction where the gang is playing DND together. 

Like, I wanna see Lewis getting immersed in his role as the Dungeon Master, spending weeks before their first session carefully crafting the lore of the world and weaving together everyone’s backstories seamlessly (he plots it all out on a murder board with all those multi-colored strings). I wanna roll my eyes at Emma being a die-hard minmaxer and strategist who plays to the most optimal win conditions, even if it takes out some of the fun. I wanna laugh at Rikki diving fist-first into combat, only to be held back by a chagrined Emma who is just tired of her antics. I wanna relate to Bella, who has no clue what she’s doing, just in it for the story, and having fun regardless. I wanna shake my head in amusement as Cleo attempts to befriend literally EVERY NPC, even if they’re not essential to the plot, because it’s just common courtesy. I wanna see Charlotte watch on the sideline while drawing elaborate art of everyone’s characters to give to them at the end of the campaign as a surprise (they end up loving it). 

I wanna see Zane get roped into the whole mess because of Rikki, hate it at first, then become the most invested and highest leveled character in the campaign.

But that means I would have to write it myself and it would stay in my drafts for all of eternity collecting dust without satisfying said sudden, primal, and insatiable urge. :’)
