The reason I never yap about my romantic or sexual orientation headcanons for Danganronpa characters is because I literally headcanon almost every single character as being some shade of pan-demiromantic or pan-demisexual.

Maybe it’s some sort of projection, but it just feels so correct and right to me.

Himiko Yumeno is the proof of every good and beautiful thing written into V3's story. She's the combination of every endearing quality a gag character could have, with the depth and story quality of a leading cast member. Despite spending most of her time as a supporting cast member, her arc blends her seamlessly into the surviving cast, while still remaining a beautiful story on its own merits. Himiko is the annoying kid from your elementary school class that no one liked because of how insistent she was that her favorite fantasy series was real and she was actually a faerie hiding in the human realm, and refused to talk about anything else. Himiko is the kid that loved her favorite convoluted magic system more than life itself, and she grew up to love that magic so much she made a successful career out of it, succeeding in immersing herself in her passion completely. Himiko is immensely lazy outside of that magic because nothing outside of it has given her any meaning. The real world is dull and harsh and unforgiving and cruel. Real people tell her that which she holds most dear isn't real and never was, and that she's stupid for believing it, for loving it. Himiko meets someone like her, someone at a school of dull machinery and harsh cruelties, that loves something beautiful and divine that everyone else calls delusional and false. Himiko holds something in common with someone, and that feels real, too. Himiko is invited into something bigger than herself, and it feels comforting not to be alone anymore. Himiko meets someone who admires her devotion and makes every effort to show her that that devotion, that love, and reality don't have to be separate. That she can bring that same love to reality and share it the way she does in her shows. She puts it together too late. The game pulls them both away, says they were both wrong, tries to push her back down. Himiko is reminded that they were real. They both stood next to her, and they loved her, and they were real and tangible and no one can take that away so long as she doesn't let them. Himiko decides to keep them. Himiko embraces reality with magic hands and a magic heart. Himiko finds the magic of the real world, which is the people within it. Himiko is beautiful. Himiko is whole. Himiko started as everything Tsumugi wanted to be but felt nothing outside of it. Himiko became everything Tsumugi never could, and is antithetical to Tsumugi's philosophy. Himiko was right. Magic was always real. Just not in the way she thought it was.

❝Nanami takes a step forward. The distance between them is now so scarce that she has to tip her head upward to account for the height difference. She raises a hand to his face, cupping his cheek with her petal-soft palm. He breathes her in, memorizing the way she smells of marzipan and pink Starbursts.

“You’re not a disappointment or a waste, Komaeda-kun,” she avows in a low, half-exasperated whisper.

The sentence sends a tremor up Komaeda’s spine, and he restrains himself from pushing further into the softness of her touch like a needy cat.

“Such sweet praise, coming from someone such as yourself…” he trails off, momentarily distracted by the caress of lithe fingers along his jawline. “You shouldn’t waste it on no-good lowlife garbage like m—”

Komaeda’s oncoming tirade of flagellation is cut short by the touch of velvet-smooth, glossed lips on his slightly chapped ones. Shock and warmth flood his system, and he intuitively squeezes his eyelids shut, feeling caught off guard despite all preconceptions. The kiss all but trips a breaker in his head, and by the time it resets, Nanami has already pulled away.

“D’you remember what I said to you by the fountain during our sophomore year, right before Summer Break?”

Nanami’s abrupt question catches him by surprise. However, it isn’t long before the memory of a lazy Thursday afternoon floats to the surface of his murky mind:

“Most people don’t know this, but a big part of being a gamer is calculating the risk-reward ratio, and I’m positive being your friend has a greater reward than risk, Komaeda-kun.”

After months of keeping Nanami at arm’s length, hoping to distance her from his vortex of death and destruction, those words were a catalyst. They gave him the courage to let Nanami in.

“I remember,” his throat tightens, and he finds himself suddenly unable to meet his class rep’s intense stare. “Nanami-san, I—”

“You don’t have to respond to that, actually.” Nanami placates him, her hand migrating from his cheek to the side of his neck. “This is what I want. What about you, Komaeda-kun?”

He nods jerkily, not needing to give the question another thought.

“Alright, then.”

This time, he hears the smile in her voice and anticipates the incoming kiss.❞

I might get in some hot water for saying this, but my least favourite pairing —at least in V3— is Kokichi x Shuichi.

And before anyone tries to misconstrue me, I’m not anti-OumaSai because I ship Kokichi with Miu. Honestly, I’m a huge multishipper — I ship Kokichi and Miu with many characters besides each other. This ship, in particular, is just not for me.

Shuichi is so ambivalent toward Kokichi that it's not even funny 😭🤚🏻 Kokichi is basically out here saying, “I’m a sexy puzzle. Come solve me”, and Shuichi struggles to even put together the edge pieces, lmao.

A few months ago, the user lockpickingliar made an excellent post here which had a section explaining Kokichi and Shuichi’s dynamic so well:

I’m presuming the [character] you’re asking about is Miu, so I’ll answer as such.

Overall, I headcanon Miu’s clothing style as a mix of the McBling and pastel goth aesthetics. I have a whole “Miu-Would-Wear Outfits” Pinterest board I constantly update.

When it comes to a piece of clothing that Miu is particularly fond of, I must point out her button pin. It’s evident she’s a big fan of the blue mouse on that pin. She goes so far as to add them to her inventions as a sort of trademark. So, I can imagine her wearing that button with every outfit.

On that note, I think Miu would also own a best-loved pair of pyjamas with her favourite cartoon character on them. Maybe even a blue mouse onesie 🤔

Additionally, I’d say she has a bunch of different styles of stockings besides the plain white pair we see in-game. Not to mention owning a wide variety of leather garters and harnesses. Those are her most frequently worn changeable accessories.

(Adjacently, Miu’s favourite make-up look is going bareface except for Rose Tyler-style clumpy mascara and cinnamon-flavoured lip gloss, lol).
