On April 19th 2001 I received my first #livingdonorkidneytransplant …. From my mother @marcela.espina . . . 21 years later and this gift continues to be a celebration. We take time to remember this beautiful miracle and the journey that was that amazing day. . . . This amazing act of kindness, love, strength and generosity provided me with 10 years of life. . . . A life without dialysis. . . . Life without limitations. . . . A fighting chance at staying alive. : . . 💚9 Years💚 ✨January 4, 2013.✨ . . . My cousin @maubouey stepped forward and joined a group of hero’s known as organ donors. . . . Through the #livingdonorpairedexchangeprogram at @ajmeratransplantcentreuhn @uhn.foundation, Mauricio helped complete a chain of 8 donors, and 8 recipients traveling across Canada for kidney transplants. . . . 9 year ago I was blessed to receive a second life saving kidney transplant. . . . Not a day goes by that I do not feel overwhelmed with emotion of the act of kindness that Mauricio did. Beyond kindness, beyond generosity, beyond heroism. A true blessing. . . . 🤍I love you🤍 . . . ✨Covid-19 Vaccination Round 3✨ November 1st 2021 I received my booster of the Covid 19 🦠Vaccination. Unfortunately, as a drug induced immunocompromised person, the vaccine does not have the same success as it would on someone who is not on drug therapy. 📌Example: being put to sleep for a surgery then receiving 10 cups of coffee. The effectiveness of the coffee would not be great as you are drug induced sleep(anesthesia). For those on immunosuppressive medication it is similar. Our medication 💊 keeps our immune system nearly shut off. By introducing a vaccine 💉 the idea is to boost your immune system and create immunity against viruses. With a “healthy”adult this effectiveness is approximately 90% or greater. For those who are on immunosuppressants it is approximately 30%. With each does my body is able to slowly reach a higher more effective immunity to help protect and fight Covid 19 🦠! So, on November 1st my sleeve went up as I sat in a room surrounded by medical teams trying to find a safer tomorrow. ❓Did you know❓ A person living with disabilities often spends three times the amount of time on medical care, daily routine, and tasks! . . . ✨ morning example✨ . 🌞 Wake Up🌞 . 🕵🏻‍♀️ Check For🕵🏻‍♀️ Pain, mobility, discomfort, and medical mishaps. . 🚫 Disconnect🚫 Medical drains, IVs, overnight treatments, dialysis, feeding tubes and more! . ✅ Reconnect✅ ports, catheters, IV, oxygen, feeding tubes, pre-medication prep and more! . 🧼Change and Clean🧼 Medical dressing, access sites, wounds and more! . All before that first ☕️ or 🚿!! . . . We all have daily tasks that we choose to do. Tasks that spark joy, help us feel better, allow us to ease into our goals for the day, and set us up for success. . Hitting snooze, watching some Netflix, working out, or just not having any plans! All that is amazing! . At the end of our day we often feel accomplished and exhausted of our many tasks. . . . Now consider this... A list of tasks that are NOT optional. They are not a choice, work, goals, self-care, wellness or pleasure. They are a must. . . . Every person living with disabilities (and their caregivers) has a list of daily musts. These tasks are often LIFE SAVING and a NECESSITY. . . . When a someone shares of the exhaustion they feel even on a day off, it is not to compare or out of laziness. It is because the tasks they have are in addition to the “normal” packed day we all have with self care, life, work, routine and more. . . . Be kind, be understanding, and know that we all face different struggles that are not always seen. . . .
