So yeah, my efforts are leading to throwing the the default, over exposed, and under exposed settings version of a ring of standard dimensions on a build plate, spend 6 hours printing them all, and throwing them on a ring mandrel to figure out which one is closer to the correct ring size. Which i should have done months ago, but my fellow classmate was able to get it to show right on his printer so i have no idea what I was doing wrong.

So I belive i finally have the right setting for both the temp of the castable resin and the exposure setting; I just need to have time because everything got busy in the personal life. 😵💫
But I shall soon have one major inhibitor for getting work done efficiently: a new car! Or at least a new to me, only mine, car. 🥳
Will it likely try to melt me because it's painted black? Yes. But that is only motivation for me to work towards saving for a wrap with my business information on it!
Also, I'll be spending the summer working on product for the christmas crush, but I think I am going to sell some things sitting in my parent's storage unit at thrift markets till they are gone. They take a lot of space, so I'm going to keep working on getting pictures up of the product that I have so I can try and get movement there, but at least someone will be ae to appreciate those dresses and ceramics.

So anyone following my Instagram knows that i have been trying to figure out what settings i should use for my resin and mostly come up with mixed results for calibration results.
I have done the calibration print with normal resin and the printer z height is fine, it's ability to run exposure is fine, and it is not defaulting to punching the bottom of the tray out. So the issue is with my resin. So I now have a little hot plate and a lazer thermometer to test with. And, after making sure the resin was at 26 C, did a print with the default settings. Nope. Going to try 35 C next time with default settings for that resin and then go from there.

I hate that I am expecting phone calls and have to pick up what ends up being spam calls.

No more moisture overnight, so everything is mostly normal up here in austin. The cleric/rouge duo appears to be stuck in Houston though. Stay safe!
While nothing approaching the big freeze a few years ago, the fact that there is any ice sticking is an indicator that the only people going to be out driving are northerners who don't know what the big deal is, and idiots who drive like it's the end of the world in mild rain conditions. This is why we stock up beforehand, and make fun of ourselves for it when often this doesn't happen even when predicted. And why this is enough to trigger a snow day for school systems.
Stay safe y'all.
And don't kill the power grid!

To forward to the bakers in my family

Lembas Bread (Lord of the Rings “authentic” Elvish bread)
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups of flour 1 tablespoon of baking powder ¼ teaspoon of salt ½ cup of butter 1/3 cup of brown sugar 1 teaspoon of cinnamon ½ teaspoon honey 2/3 cup of heavy whipping cream ½ teaspoon of vanilla
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425F. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Add the butter and mix with a well till fine granules (easiest way is with an electric mixer). Then add the sugar and cinnamon, and mix them thoroughly.
Finally add the cream, honey, and vanilla and stir them in with a fork until a nice, thick dough forms.
Roll the dough out about ½ in thickness. Cut out 3-inch squares and transfer the dough to a cookie sheet.Criss-cross each square from corner-to-corner with a knife, lightly (not cutting through the dough).
Bake for about 12 minutes or more (depending on the thickness of the bread) until it is set and lightly golden.
***Let cool completely before eating, this bread tastes better room temperature and dry. Also for more flavor you can add more cinnamon or other spices***

I'm the sort of neuro divergent that tries to a) rescue $100+ of acrylic flowers beads because i already lost the storage furniture to the cats, I ain't loosing the contents, and b) purposefully goes through and sniffs small hand fulls of the acrylic flowers post full decontamination process to ensure they realy don't smell like cat pee in the cat free room that had been flower candle bombed previously for palette cleansing purposes while watching air disasters.
But hey my cleaning proccess is successful because only three of the acrylic peices is going to be needed to be burned out!

After christmas I will go back to updating my website with individual pictures of different items and venture away from mystery bag style of order form that works when in person but not online. I will also reformat my crochet placemat and coasters to be individually purchased because I was lied to and no one wants sets. Not even the grannies.
Otherwise, the austin market scene just proved that being a native austinite who has lived in austin the majority of my life is not austin enough to make sales when direcrtly competing against buy/sellers at a craft and artisian market.
#small business woes#small business#austin texas artists#may the dude who said the items i marked down 50% were still too high for an item liked that be infested with fire ants in their living room

My last show of the season @vibeartisanmarkets @distributionhall ! And then I shall sleep for a week or two before going back to posting everything online.
I will be having, in person, on Lihirielle's pendants as this time next year the goal is to be able to have all her work on pendants I've designed and cast myself, as well as her mini flower pots as we have learned that this is not the decorative pot size people want for flowers despite being toddler and cat resistant. Tossed around, knocked a table onto a hard surface, have the entire display slip off a table, these flower pots are great for small plants where you want the soil to stay in the pot. They just happen to be shot glass size!
Also, bundle and save on crochet kitchen sets. The sets I made as sets because of course, people still buy sets like that. I should have known better.
See you Saturday!

First up BlackFriday and Small business Saturday with @originalaustinflea @stillatx.
(If anyone is going to be at @accdistrict highland campus on Wednesday the 4th, I will have a limited selection at a table near the @accjewelry @accfashionincubator departments as apparently of the ACC student and alumni craft sale)
On December 7th I will be @oldtaylorhigh with @taylormarketdays pictures with Santa will be avalible
Rounding off will be with @vibeartisanmarkets @distributionhall after which I shall enter myself into a coma and will emerge again sometime in the new year.
I am also starting a sale on the painted pendants as Lihirielle is transitioning from the mass produced, mystery metal pendant bases to small batched pendant bases produced by me! Though full new inventory for that will likely be some time nearer to next christmas as I am using either myself or local casting houses that are smaller casting operations.
And remember, i am happy to do custom peices in general, but that will be something for after the new year, now.
See you soon!

If it sounds like the composer is trying to blast you with the orchestra until you're as deaf as he is, it's Beethoven.
If it sounds like the composer might be a vampire, it's Bach.
If it sounds like the composer is trying to set the violins on fire, it's Vivaldi.

So I'm on a fast moving train to a town called burnout. May I last till the christmas markets are over. But I'm no longer going to stress about having every weekend day filled with markets though I have a pretty full plate.

So what is the deal with people not wanting to pay sales tax? Sales tax pays for schools and stuff. Your vendor has to pay sales tax regardless. just because you don't want to doesn't mean that there arent some of us fall on the line of lawful good and neutral good and have the fear of prosecution related to taxes because of family members and just want to throw the paper work at peeps at the comptroller and IRS like they were the hounds of hell because if I keep track of everything this first tax year and a trustworthy CPA says cetlrtains things I don't need to keep then I won't keep track of it next year.
But this year, having to pay taxes to state comptroller is an acomplishment!
#small business#austin texas artists#small business woes#death and taxes#taxes#i know my moms issue was probably triggered by going to work for a military contractor#after she worked for a company that split her between two states.#that one aunt brought it on her self by not listening to the tax preparer.#my tax preparer might this year might be the one who told that aunt she was doing it wrong since everyone says h&rblock has gone down hill

I don't remember adding this, but the blue is the cad print in the castable resin, and the top are what they look like after a quick shake down after being cast. I didn't cast the pendant and standalone ring as there was a design issue appearent after printing that there wasn't in the cad program.
Valuable lessons learned: see if I can get away with fewer supports, use clippers to detached unless octopus is the theme, make the central spru lengths so it will easily fit in the 4 inch and not have to require the giant grumpy caster, make the ring sprue longer.
Updating all of the ring sprue lengths is a pain but I know it works so much next print will be an experiment of how many supports can I take away before it doesn't print right at all, but if I can get this so I can just pick which size and style of ring I need to replenish and just print and go, my education would be worth it.
