My alters' presence and voices fluctuate from being completely there to completely silent and I can't even feel them. Their presence isn't triggered by anything; it's completely random.
I tried to do research and apparently it can be OSDD, but a mutual on here told me that I was more likely to have partial DID, and they gave a bunch of reasons and a list of symptoms matching mine. So I believed the same.
Right now, I can't go to my psychiatrist and it's killing me, so until the end of summer, I'll have to stick to my own careful research and help from other system friends on here.
Please give me advice.
I don't know if my alters are going to be quiet forever. Last time, it was two years ago, and they went quiet, and it took me literally two years to hear them and feel them again. And like I said, they have no trigger. They just come and disappear.
I don't know what else to say.

I'm infinitely grateful for people such as yourself/selves🙏🫶
HELLO SYSBLR!
Question time‼️
Do you have a good communication between alters?
Was it always like that, or did you work on it?
What did you do to strengthen communication?
Thank you<333

Thank you so so much, this made me feel so valid<33
I just wanted to thank you again for the resources and advice. Looking into it, what I experience is infinitely closer to PDID than OSDD. I'll definitely make sure to bring both of those up to my psychiatrist and go over them separately too, just to be sure. :D
Now, the thing I wanted to say is, I don't know if I have trauma. All I remember is memories from ages 6 til 12 of me staring into a mirror or at my hands, repeating "I'm me" like a mantra and feeling extremely detached from my body, my surroundings, my emotions, etc. I don't know what would cause a 6 year old to feel like that, and I don't know if it can just happen irrationally, but I don't remember any trauma.
And I do know that dissociative disorders are traumagenic, and that's what makes me feel like I'm faking. Because since my dissociation started young, I don't think I'm endogenic, but at the same time, I don't remember any trauma either.
I don't know why I'm typing this. I just feel like I'm being dramatic whenever I see the word trauma attached to my symptoms, because I'm I'm traumatized.
I don't know.
just a gentle reminder that the point of the disorder is to not remember trauma and that whats traumatic for a child may not be traumatic for a teen or an adult!! honestly, DP/DR at that young of an age seems to have been traumatic enough considering the response that you recalled and the response that you’re currently exploring
kinda to repeat what i said in that ask, dont look into trauma until youve developed your coping skills and safety plan. it would suck to go searching for it and end up flashing back or making dissociation worse or even splitting because you werent ready to pull yourself out or you didnt have a safe place/person to explore with
also, some kids are more prone to dissociation than others! dont discount anything if thats the only coping mechanism you had/utilized at the time. not to mention, part of dissociative amnesia is “filling in the blanks”. i know that pseudomemories are treated weird in the psych field and that people online are generally dickish about them, but theyre there for a reason. if your only memories from that time (or if most of your memories from that time) are of that particular event with those particular words and actions, its probably repeated enough without trauma/consequence attached to be the only “safe” memory and/or was the only memory from that time that was “safe” enough to fill in those blanks/cover up trauma. again, dont look into it, but those are just a couple reasons why that might be happening!!
i get feeling weird about the word “trauma”. i feel the exact same way whenever i talk about that sort of stuff with irls or people who dont have a CDD because its just so embarrassing to admit that something happened. i mean, part of having PTSD/CPTSD/a CDD is denial, and that discomfort (and the “im being dramatic” response!) sounds like it might be coming from a place of denial (conscious or not)

back with resources!!!! :D this ask is gonna be super long so this is your warning
ok first and foremost: as you're figuring stuff out and exploring system stuff, get off sysblr/systok/systagram/etc. im being so serious. turning to social media spaces when you still aren't sure can serve as a MAJOR detriment to this process if you don't know what you're doing or where you're going.
given you already have an account and have already introduced yourself to these spaces, i greatly encourage you to slow down and focus on development outside of social media (more resources and stuff below). obviously social media has its pros and cons, but the cons can easily overpower the pros (talking specifically about syscourse) (do NOT get involved in syscourse its not worth it and it doesnt matter irl or in system at all please save yourself).
i know that its easy and feels good to build community and find similar people online, but system communities put so much importance on what your syscourse stances are and it's just not helpful for newly discovered/potential systems. falling down the syscourse rabbit hole will fuck your whole journey up and put emphasis on the wrong discoveries. you could lose yourself in it and feel worse off than when you started. just don't engage.
also, some of the resources being shared online are not beneficial for traumatized individuals and could actually make dissociation worse or promote heavier barriers instead of integration. talking exclusively with systems on the internet opens the door to parasocial relationships and an unhealthy reliance on social media.
my advice is to find a small handful of safe accounts (i highly recommend accounts such as "___ culture is", CDD system help compilers, a couple mutuals, etc. be aware of who you follow, what they associate themselves with, and why you follow them) and stick with those.
filter syscourse tags and filter system/plural tags that dont pertain to your system. at least until you have a firm grasp on coping skills, "media training" (self restraint, being mindful of how you come across and what language you're using, separating logical arguments from emotional responses, etc), and critical analysis/research.
tldr dos and donts:
DO:
explore yourself outside of social media
establish a safety plan (emergency contacts, coping mechanisms, anything else you think is necessary)
think critically about online resources
research the things you read
practice counteracting trauma responses (especially dissociation/DP/DR management)
DONT:
restrict this process and your interactions to social media
engage in syscourse
force your system/other parts into being something they arent
limit your tumblr to CDD/plural content
before i actually start with resource sharing:
FOCUS ON SYMPTOMS, NOT ON THE LABEL.
IT'S OKAY IF YOU END UP NOT BEING A SYSTEM.
IT'S OKAY IF YOU'RE WRONG.
it'll suck and feel like you're starting from nothing, but acknowledging it is infinitely better than clinging to a label that doesn't fit.
now!! we stuck a little closer to P-DID stuff because, upon further review of your account, it definitely seems to be more like P-DID as opposed to OSDD-1/1b. HOWEVER the majority of things i talk about are useful regardless of system type (and regardless of whether or not youre a system at all!)
as you seem to still be somewhat questioning your systemhood, try to put more of your time, energy, and focus into symptom management and collecting different coping mechanisms instead of part discovery and development. if you think an inner world would help, try putting some energy towards building that as well! remember that you don't need an innerworld and that it may be difficult or impossible to access yours if you are a P-DID system. reminder that its ok if you cant access it and youre capable of functioning without it!
building an innerworld
coping skills, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 NOTES FOR COPING SKILLS: -sometimes you won't be able to do them in moments of extreme duress. THAT IS OK. focus on harm reduction in those moments and getting yourself to a safe place instead of forcing the "ideal" solution. -this shit takes practice, don't expect to have it down right away. -not every coping skill works. find the ones that do. take elements that work from skills that don't and implement them into a different one.
therapeutic toys/play
PTSD/trauma info sheet, for parents of teens, for parents/caregivers/teachers/loved ones,
"We All Have Parts" (IFS book)
once you have those foundations established, you can start moving towards internal communication and safe trauma work outside of a professional setting - though if you're able to find and connect with a therapist who specializes in trauma, parts work/IFS, and dissociation/dissociative disorders, i highly recommend doing that instead.
while we don't support using definitive labels (1, 2, 3), it can help narrow down your search for coping skills and system help. feel free to look into the various CDD types, but try to avoid picking one for certain! (added specifically P-DID links since you seem to be aware of OSDD and its subtypes already)
communicating with alters (basics), 2, 3, 4
mapping the system/mapping the self, 2
was i supposed to know that?: a non-definitive list
P-DID stuff, 2
what are the dissociative disorders? (doesn't include PF/C/HC-DID)
DID fact sheet (includes treatment & how loved ones can support you)
formation and functions of alters (study)
innerworlds for systems, 2
logging switches/switch support, 2, (should be easier since dissociative amnesia is low for you and you tend to experience parts through passive influence and co-consciousness)
we also made a post helping another system with part discovery and development!
i saved system specific things for last because the above gives you enough time and space to really dig into your brain and what's happening instead of jumping to conclusions and disrupting the natural healing process. below are links that cover communication between alters, development help for alters who need it, inner world help, how to tell who's who, accepting loss of identity/the collective self, and more!
pinpointing parts
controlled switching
making friends in the system
types of alters
finally, here are some sys accounts i love and recommend going through!

Ty, I'm glad it's not just me, but please be as careful as you can when you feel it coming on🫶
Is it normal to feel bodily weak near switching? Because whenever I feel close to switching, I feel like my knees are gonna buckle and I'm gonna fall, but it feels dramatic, yk?

I suppose I need to make an intro post since I thought this was a temporary blog just until I got answers for my questions on systems, but since I've actually interacted with blogs, ig I should make an introductory post!
Hi. We're the Star system and we have 8 headmates/alters.
Our host is named Elijah, and he's the main person who fronts. The rest of us are simply internal, and we've only co-fronted like 3 times since discovering we're a system. We've never fully fronted, and for the most part, we're front-stuck.
So, here we are;
1) Elijah, he/she, host, owner of the body
2) Ashton, he/him, co-host, protector, 16 y/o
3) Kyra, she/her, co-host, 19 y/o
4) Jax, he/they, co-host, protector, 17 y/o
5) Elias, he/him, 21 y/o
6) Roxanne, she/her, early 20s
7) Audrey, she/her, 15 y/o
8) Alex, he/him, child alter, 6 y/o
Collectively, you can refer to us as Moony, Star or Starry, and use he/she pronouns. Our asks are always open, and we look forward to answering questions.
We could not care less about syscourse, and we believe fake-claiming does more harm to the community than good.
Thanks for reading.
