After Jane decides to stay in the jungle, the jungle accepts her as one of its own. It teaches her magic while Tarzan teaches her how to communicate with the animals. Jane has always wanted knowledge, craved it, and now she has a whole world to explore.

after wonderboy saves her from the underworld, she finds that she brought something back with her. meg now has more friends than she can handle: the dead now love to stop by and chat. it’s handy sometimes, having ghosts she can talk to. they teach her magic, real magic, spells and potions to protect herc and phil, teach her to talk to pegasus and other creatures. and yeah, the dead can be too chatty sometimes, know what i mean? but she has trouble sleeping after the ordeal, after hades and his river. and sometimes the dead sing to her, sing to her like the muses sing to heroes. and meg’s no hero, so she takes the songs she can get.

it’s not like halloweentown is ever peaceful. the next time there’s trouble, sally saves the day. “you always save the day, sally!” jack booms with pride. but sally doesn’t always feel that way- sometimes she feels limp and invisible, like Before jack saw her. it’s on these days where she works hardest on her magic, filling herself up with magic she creates, magic she fabricates, magic from her. jack loves her even on her most invisible days, she saves the town again with her quick fingers and her visions. halloweentown isn’t peaceful, but it’s home. and sally saves her home and her jack, again and again.

after escaping the horned king, eilonwy works to perfect her magic. she learns to manipulate her bauble even more, control the power of light, and begin to cast spells and potions. it annoys taran, which is a plus, but she thinks he’s secretly proud. magic is the first step into becoming herself, and she’s ready for the next one.

after neverland, the pixie dust doesn’t wear off for wendy like it does for her brothers. flying still comes as easy as breathing for her, lifting off. magic follows, spells and potions and whispers to animals. she misses peter, but wendy makes her own magic, her own neverland.

abilities: travel to other worlds through mirrors, potions and spells to change her size, telekinesis

the white queen teaches her magic before alice leaves. “don’t you want to come back?” she asks, “and go to other worlds?” and alice does, very much! so she learns to jump through mirrors to other worlds, strange and beautiful worlds where nothing makes sense! she learns to make the teacups float (which makes the hatter absolutely mad!) and to brew her own size-altering drinks and desserts. and if she brings her magic home with her to startle her sister and to play with the cat, well, she has a wonderful alibi. she tells them, “that’s impossible, after all. are you sure you saw what you think you saw?”
