I know this will not solve every problem but I figured it was worth a try and any bit of help, even sharing makes a difference to me! Thank you🤟🏻
Anyone who knows me knows that reaching out for help is my weak point, so this was very hard for me to make, but it is harder to think about not being able to finish my dream of becoming a teacher.
I thought the hardest part of this year would be recovering from my knee surgery after wearing a knee brace for over a year, but the financial aspect of school and medical bills causing stress on me and my family has been even harder.
I worked hard to graduate in the top 6% of my class in high school and was involved in everything I possibly could be because I’ve always strived to go to college and become a teacher. I found my calling in the Deaf Education field and knew it is exactly where I am meant to be and how I will help do my part in the world through education. I still keep up my GPA and grades and work hard to become the best teacher I can be.
Converse has a wonderful ASL based Deaf Ed program and I have had many opportunities, but as a small, private residential women’s college it is expensive. I receive scholarships and grants but they are not enough to cover housing and I was unable to receive the loan that I have in the past to cover the housing bill. You can read more about my situation in the gofundme and it contains a video assignment I had and photos from this past semester.
