Ellie Goulding - Lights
Analysis and Opinion
I must admit that this song has proven difficult for me to analyse
Lights..
Assuming one may see, vision is the most important sense to one's life. Superficially, light provides one's eyes with the ability to spot the shadows lurking beneath both animate and inanimate objects; allows one to observe and travel in a particular motion. Metaphorically, a radiance of light often signals support, optimism and grace.
In the circumstance of this song it appears one may battling depressing thoughts - one is not sleeping nor has the strength to overpower the overwhelming self-loathing ideas. The light appears to symbolize a white-house or a form of infrastructure produced to guide those/things that observe the rays from all different angles and magnitudes. Indeed, the light is calling an individual home.
Apart from these physical bursts of luminescence that resonate in the song, it's evident that family members may also provide a shed of optimistic sunlight to those derailing. Being with family is the only instance where the individual feels safe as mentioned in the song. Perhaps, the family represents the light that shines and redirects the individual mentioned within the song.
When one tends to steer off dangerously at a tangent, this song demonstrates family may act as a guide to be redirected on a more stable path - just as a shed of light allows our eyes to walk without crashing. It may be inferred that very close friends could potentially possess these powerful qualities to radiate others in need.

Lyrics
I had a way then losing it all on my own
I had a heart then but the queen has been overthrown
And I'm not sleeping now the dark is too hard to beat
And I'm not keeping now the strength I need to push me
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine It when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone
'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home
Calling, calling, calling home
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine It when I'm alone
Home
Noises, I play within my head
Touch my own skin and hope that I'm still breathing
And I think back to when my brother and my sister slept
In an unlocked place the only time I feel safe
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone
'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home
Calling, calling, calling home
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
Home
Yeah, hee
Light, lights, lights, lights
Light, lights, lights, lights
Light, lights, lights, lights
Light, lights
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone
'Cause they're calling, calling, calling me home
Calling, calling, calling home
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
Home, home
Light, lights, lights, lights
Light, lights, lights, lights
Home, home
Light, lights, lights, lights
Light, lights, lights, lights
Home, home
Light, lights, lights, lights
Light, lights, lights, lights
Home, home
Light, lights, lights, lights

Daughter - Human
Analysis and Opinion
Humanity at is the centerpiece of every discussion to every living being by default, due to an integral, intangible and intrinsic connection with life holistically. Daughter have raised awareness of the awe-inspiring effects and thoughts of mankind - particularly mortality.
Humans are animals and located at the top of the food chain, due to our outstanding cognitive ability which allows logic and reason to take precedence through evolution as opposed to instinct. Albeit, our animal instincts are certainly still present, sometimes one wishes to act instantaneously and perhaps viciously, similarly to any animal in colloquial terminology of fight or flight. It may be these heritages which either endanger or rescue an individual from particular circumstances... But there is an ultimatum which it may not overpower - which the song thoroughly addresses.
There is one particular section of the song that stands out...
"Underneath the skin there's a human
Buried deep within there's a human
And despite everything I'm still human
But I think I'm dying here"
Observing the lyrics and listening to the tone of the voice and melody, a dichotomy appears in regards to a stance on this song.
Optimism and pessimism. Irrespective of how one acts, thinks or feels emotionally, every person is a human - and this fact alone unites mankind. In contrast, one is trapped purely by being human and demeans the meaning of life. As touched on prior, the only line connecting these two interpretations is the notion of death... and essentially the cycle of life.
One has choices to make all the time, which will impact life with minuscule or perhaps drastic consequences. Pessimistic or optimistic, disabled or physically fit, mentally ill or mentally grasped, one may find closure knowing that there are immutable parts of the life cycle - mortality, that link humanity with every being that has lived or is living.

Lyrics
Woken up like an animal
Teeth ready for sinking
My mind's lost in bleak visions
I've tried to escape but keep sinking
Limbs lost to a dead weight stake
Skull cage like a prison
And he's lost faith he'll ever see again
So may he once thought of me then
Underneath the skin there's a human
Buried deep within there's a human
And despite everything I'm still human
But I think I'm dying here
Woken up like an animal
I'm all ready for healing
My mind's lost with nightmares streaming
Woken up (kicking screaming)
Take me out of this place I'm in
Break me out of this shell-like case I'm in
Underneath the skin there's a human
Buried deep within there's a human
And despite everything I'm still human
I think that I'm still human [x3]
Underneath the skin there's a human
Buried deep within there's a human
And despite everything I'm still human
But I think I'm dying here

Of Monsters and Men - Love Love Love
Analysis and Opinion
Powerful and intense, albeit soothing. These 3 words (no pun intended) are how I would describe my emotions and thoughts throughout the song. There is a contradiction with my choices; how can it be intense, powerful and soothing simultaneously - It's paradoxical? Superficially, the flow and melody of the song are slow and emit tranquility. However, the lyrics demonstrate a sense of sadness, anger and remorse. In addition to this paradox, it appears evident that the hatred in this song is a bi-product of love - yin and yang philosophy.
Assuming this song is written post-relationship; the song is written in retrospect about a former significant partner. Unfortunately, the aftermath of this particular relationship has left the author/ artist with self-loathing and extremely poignant thoughts about the past - which are used to attack the opposing former lover in the relationship.
The song is fumed with anger and regret because this independent member of the relationship could not love the other for reasons unspecified. However, this hatred is fueled by unearthing heart warming emotions that were present within the relationship. Love and hate in this case merely follow an equation, with hate being the product. The sentimental nature of the song is seemingly only one sided (this happened and I hate them for it) but in reality, the only reason as to why this occurs is due to the relationship being prosperous at some point.
Hence, any relationship eliciting positive results to two independent parties that diminishes instantly or over a prolonged period of time will produce a form of sorrow and even despair.
Mysterious Sounds
Lyrics
Well, maybe I'm a crook for stealing your heart away
Yeah, maybe I'm a crook for not caring for it
Yeah, maybe I'm a bad, bad, bad, bad person
Well, baby, I know.
And these fingertips
Will never run through your skin
And those bright blue eyes
Can only meet mine across the room filled with people that are less important than you.
All 'cause you love, love, love
When you know I can't love
You love, love, love
When you know I can't love
You love, love, love
When you know I can't love you
So I think it's best we both forget before we dwell on it
The way you held me so tight
All through the night
'Til it was near morning
'Cause you love, love, love
When you know I can't love
You love, love, love
When you know I can't love
You love, love, love
When you know I can't love you
All 'cause you love, love, love
When you know I can't love
You love, love, love
When you know I can't love
You love, love, love
When you know I can't love you

Seth Sentry - The Waitress Song
Lyrics:
And there's a place I go for breakfast every afternoon
the coffees rubbish and the bacons always hard to chew
an the toast is always soggy
but I hardly notice
the food takes such a long time to get made
even when I'm the only person in the cafe
and the tables always wobbly
but I hardly notice
You probably thinking why would I even bother reading their rotter daily basis
there's heaps of other places
but I'll change to another place if their bacon is rubber
and the taste of the cuppa makes peoples faces all splutter
it's the waitress I love her
the way she cleans plates with a clutter
makes my heart race race with a flutter
I know it's crazy to love a lady that basically just a stranger with an apron down her front
I don't need to ask her name and number
cause this relationship is built on breakfast
I'm waiting on her just to wait on me
and there's a place I go for breakfast every afternoon
the coffees rubbish and the bacon is always hard to chew
and the toast is always soggy
but I hardly notice
and the food takes such a long time to get made
even when I'm the only person in the cafe
and the tables always wobbly
but I hardly notice
she says hi to me bye to me that'll be 5.95 to me
I don't really mind that's alright wih me
I just smile and eat
sometimes we mightn't speak for like a week
she knows that in my quiet time I Ike to write a poem
with my headphones newspaper, bacon, fried or poached eggs, slice of toast, a long black
but the beans are always burnt
and if the cup is dirty she just cleans it with her shirt
I wonder if she's my ideal girl
and what would happen if we date in the real world
na, I don't want to risk what we have
and have to tip cause of that
besides this relationship is built on breakfast
I'm waiting on her just to wait on me
and there's a place I go or breakfast every afternoon
the coffees rubbish and the bacons always hard to chew
and the toast is always soggy
but I hardly notice
and the food takes such a long time to get made
even when I'm the only person in the cafe
an my tables always wobbly
but I hardly notice
and it don't matter that the bacon I eat is cold
and it okay that their newspapers are weeks old
no I don't mind, no it's fine cause she is all that I'm there for
and it don't matter that the bacon I eats cold
and it's okay their newspapers are weeks old
no I don't mind, no it's fine cause she's all that I'm there for
and there's a place I go for breakfast every afternoon
the coffees rubbish and the bacons always hard to chew
and the toast is always soggy
but I hardly notice
and the food takes such a long time to get made

Analysis and Opinion
Upon first listening to this song, my mind began to wonder at the peculiar distaste Sentry has for the cafe, albeit he stays and returns periodically and his absent mindedness manifests. Evidently the food at this specific restaurant is not superb... so why would one venture to such a place - and even potentially on a regular basis like Sentry?
Obviously there is a girl, a waitress, that attracts Sentry's desire and he even returns continually to the poor restaurant seemingly to observe his waitress again. Whilst the thought about dating this particular girl has been unearthed, Sentry negates this idea due to their relationship which is "built on breakfast". This phrase perplexed me as I could not understand his reasoning for not pursuing the relationship or his strange obsession with the lesser cafe. However, it resonated with me recently whilst killing time with procrastination whereby I was listening to music and probably singing...
He doesn't pursue his attraction with the waitress because he doesn't have to nor does he want to. The restaurant, waitress, wobbly tables and breakfast are all little intricate and profound aspects of something much more important for Sentry; every line in the song illustrates Sentry's singular tradition that he takes pride in.
One's hobbies that are enjoyed independently are traditions that need not reason. To appreciate and be thankful of these little and perhaps strange obsessions we have with certain hobbies or interests is the message inferred for me. One's poignant or sentimental habit does not need to be recognized officially nor does it need to make sense to all.
Cherish the strange habits you have as they put you in better moods and catalyze your day positively.
